Priest who declares love for woman removed
If he'd chosen a discreet altar boy and kept his own mouth shut, would Rev. Sguotti still be ministering to his parishioners and hearing confessions? (Was Liberace gay? Did Monica Lewinsky blow Bill Clinton? Is the Pope Catholic?)

except... they totally fucked on that show.
Re: Priest who declares love for woman removed
I had a classmate in high school whose mother was a nun and her father was a priest. They fell in love and got special permission from the Vatican to break their vows and get married. They remained very devout Catholics, and their daughter (my classmate) became a Carmelite nun right after she graduated from high school; ever since then, she's been cloistered in a convent in upstate New York, never allowed to leave and also living under a vow of total silence for the rest of her life. I've always wondered if she was pressured to do that as penance for her parents' relationship.

Hey, what do you think Richard Chamberlain was thinking while he made out with Rachel Ward? }:D

It seems that she carried the burden of her parents' guilt :( ... That's fuckin' deep, Yek!

Yeah, if he'd been banging alter boys they'd have just transferred him to a different area ::) Way to go, Catholic Church!
Re: Priest who declares love for woman removed
I'm Catholic and I always hated this about the Roman Catholic Church, which is why I chose to go to the Reformed Catholic Church. Celibacy is optional, and all are welcome. E.g., my deacon at the Reformed Church is divorced AND gay, two humongous no-nos in the Roman Catholic Church.

^It's really nice to realize that some parts of the Catholic Church have woken up and realized that times have changed and that people tend to have human feelings like love. Thanks FD, you've restored some of my faith in humanity.

Wow. Until the Carmelite part I thought you were for sure talking about my cousin. Her parents are an ex-priest and an ex-nun who gave up their vows to marry each other. But she's an accountant sooooo probably not so much with the vow of silence! ;D
