Who the fuck needs that many guns??? :-\
ETA: the original story:
some people do collect them. But he's not allowed to own them and who really needs silencers? Are those legal? I don't know anything about guns.
Ummm...well..it only looks like 8 or 9 which isnt a lot for a collector. Between my husband and me we have 6 I think.
And silencers? You dont NEED them...they are jusy cool to have. Again..a lot of collectors have stuff like that not because they need them or plan to use them, but because they are cool accessories.
But if he isnt allowed to have them in the first place, I'm betting it wasnt collecting or hobby that made him buy all that.
I know people collect guns, but they do it legally. Maybe he just wanted some street cred, lol.
"On Saturday, wearing a hidden wire and cooperating with federal agents, the bodyguard met Harris at a pre-arranged meeting place in Midtown and handed over the three machine guns and two silencers, the affidavit said. When Harris was told about one of the silencers, he said, "no flash, no bang," and later asked for the "change leftover" from the $12,000 he had given the bodyguard for the weapons, the affidavit said." ()
Whoa...his bodyguard wore a wire! Hope he joined the witness protection program.
Ditto here ! He might have been just wanting to buy them to have..That's what I do and then go to the firing range. Lots of people in the South have big arsenals..I know a couple who have rocket launchers.
But, I agree they probably were going to be used for something they shouldn't be used for..I've heard that his body guard was actually working with the ATF because he was busted earlier and turned informant.
Poor TI, his boy set him up..but he should've never done any of this stupid crap in the first place. Who is going to support his 4 kids when he gets locked up ?? And believe me he is going to jail for this. His career had been put on hold for years because he's been in and out of jail. You'd think he'd be happy with the life he's living and be mature enough to not get caught up.
I wonder what his felony conciction was for (that made it illegal for him to own a firearm)?
"Harris was convicted of drug distribution in June 1998 in Cobb County and has additional arrests and a probation violation for unlawfully possessing firearms." (from the article I linked to above)
His real last name is Harris.
^^I think if you're a felon, you are not allowed to own a weapon at all, no matter what the crime. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Exactly..I don't know if he's still on probation or parole. But if he's not, he should've filed to have the felony expunged from his record then bought the guns legally. Now he's got even more legal drama to deal with and each gun, silencer, bullet, etc. will most likely count as a charge.
I beg to differ. Silencers are fantastic, they help prevent ear damage.
I suffer to this day from some of the hearing damage I received in the military due to weapon fire indoors.
When I go to the ranges today, I often use them so I don't have to be as careful about my hearing.
It is illegal for a felon to have a gun. This is the law:
"The banned classes include: convicted felons; fugitives;
unlawful users of controlled substances; adjudicated "mental defectives";
illegal aliens; dishonorably discharged service personnel; those who have
renounced their U.S. citizenship; misdemeanor domestic violence offenders
or those subject to certain restraining orders in domestic violence matters.
The maximum penalty is five years imprisonment."
See I.A.1.
There are also additional charges for multiple guns and previous convictions.
Interesting to see how this one plays out...
Yeah, but as a Georgia girl I must say that I learned early in life Southerners LOVE their guns, and they feel that is their God-given right to have them.
And he was finally getting out of trouble too. :/

Yeah, more jail time is always more street cred too;)
Hard to imagine someone with all his $$$ and celebrity going to jail, but it can happen. Think of Michael Vick.
Any Rapper doing shit like that is retarded. Nobody believes TI is a gangsta.
I sure don't.
Which is unfortunate, the idea for this comes from Hollywood action films and not reality. Silencers, which are actually mufflers were developed by Hiram Maxim at the turn of century. The silencer as it is now called was so that one could enjoy shooting without causing permanent damage to your hearing, or disturbing the neighbors.
The silencer as it is now called is actually encouraged and easier to get in such countries as the UK, Switzerland, and Norway for that very purpose.
As for T.I. aka Harris, being a felon had to be no surprise. That he negotiated a purchase through another person ( the definition of a straw purchase) implies guilt, and it is not going to go well for him in Court. The problem I have with this though is the BATFE, and the use of a paid informant facing the same charges. That is were T.I. is going to get off, as this smacks of entrapment, and casts doubt on the Prosecution. If T.I buys a great Lawyer I see him getting off.
and his girlfriend "tiny" (from the group Xscape) was arrested with him for possesion of a illegal substance...(weed and e) which that is what it is, but she's PREGNANT, the hell you doing with drugs if your pregnant? SAD Story, T.I. just couldn't leave the old thug life alone, and now he's gonna prolly be locked up for 10 years.
I think it's pretty lame felons are denied access to firearms. Once you paid your debt, it should be over. Assuming you owed a debt in the first place, a lot of felons are because of victim-less crime and politics.
who the fuck is TI? wow... i must be hiding under a rock. and i supposedly live in 'da lbc... yo... :-\
