I'm 18 now and have been wanting to dance for awhile now. There is a club about 30 miles from where I live that is hiring for topless waitresses and dancers. I just wanted to get an opinion from someone that has done it while still in high school.

Wow, that would be really high pressure. Do you live with your parents? What do they think? Will you be upset if your friends or your whole high school find out? Could you handle having to stay out really late and still get to school early?
I would only do it if my parents were ok with it if I still lived at home. It would be really stressful and difficult to hide it from them.
Unless your circumstances are perfect, you should probably focus on graduating high school with good grades. You don't want anything to jeapordize your diploma.
Why do you want to do it anyway, just out of curiosity?
Good points Lilylove. Those are def.some things you want to think about.
I started dancing (nude) a year after graduation I think it was. I know I was not
fresh out of high school when I started. You may want to wait until you are finished
with school.
I'm graduating early in December and until then I think I can do it part time.
I have had a waitressing job before so the late hours don't really bother me. I live with just my mom she works the late shift at the hospital and I all most never see her. As for why I wont to do it, I was on a dance team for a few years and loved exciting the crowds with my performance. This feels like the next step for me to take.
Try it out part time and see how you like it and how it fits with you. =D Good luck
I worked with a couple girls that started while they were still in high school, they were still around afterwards so I guess it worked out for them. I'm 19 and just started this summer (I also dropped out at 16) so you can be young and do this, but you have to make sure youre doing it for the right reasons and know its a job and not a place to meet guys and have a jolly old time (not that you can't have lots of fun). If you don't have to make too much of an effort to hide it from your family, thats good. Just think of what they'd do if they found out? My moms super open mided, so I just told her. I wouldn't do it living uncer the same roof as my parents if I knew they were super religious and would disown me or something like that, so take that into consideration.
Its also alot more than just dancing and performing, in a lot of clubs the performance part is a smaller part of your job. That doesn't mean you can't try it, if you don't like it you can quit. Just don't go into it thinking its all about the stage.
Good luck whatever you do!
I have an interview set up after school tomorrow with the manager, I guess
a woman runs the place. Anyways, I 'm not to sure what too wear. I think I will treat it as any other job interview I have had, just a little sexier. Probably a short black skirt and silk blouse that I have. She did not really say if I was going to audition on stage or not. But Just in case I'm going to stop off at Victoria's Secret and buy something new. Any idea's would be helpful, I have gotten some good information from this site I'm glad I found it.
I did it. P.m. me if you have any questions about it. I told my parents that I had a job in a bar (they both don't drink).
I was in school when I started dancing also. I was not living at home at the time and I had a little baby so I guess my experience was a little different. Try it out part time and see how you like it but if it gets in the way of school just wait until after you are done with school...there will be plenty of time to make money but get your education first (I learned the hard way).
Thanks for the advise, and education is important to me. I do well enough in school that is why I can graduate early. I do plan on going to college in the fall for nursing, which will involve a lot of work and money to pay for it. With dancing I heard I can make some good money and only work a few nights a week. That is partly why I want to be a stripper and start now to get some experience before I move to college.
I just got back from the bar I want to work at. The interview lasted for about 20 minutes. Of which I asked several question that I got from this site and it helped me a lot. She liked me enough that she decided to see how I danced on stage and that would determine how much stage time I would get or just waitress most of the time. They were closed so she took me to the main stage and she started some music for me.
I had planed a small dance routine ahead of time and glad I did made me more relaxed for what was to happen. When I started my dance it was just her in the building or so I thought. In the middle of my dance I had my back to her when I took of my bra, when I turned around there where two guys watching me (They were doing some beer deliveries it turned out) but I was so shocked that I cupped my breasts and froze. I just starred at them and they starred right back, they then reached into their pockets and started waving dollar bills at me. I recovered and from the slight shock and finished my planned dance I had made. My not sound like much but it took me off guard a little.
She liked the way I handled myself tho and offered me a job when we were back in her office and I was getting dressed. I start this Saturday I'm so excited and a little nervous to.
O and I made $20 in tips from those two beer guys
you made $20 and that was not even planned on...good for you! what a good way to start out. I am sure that you will do fine on your fist offical day. $$$Good Luck$$$
Thank you so much, I can't wait for tomorrow. It was fun having just those two guys watching me on stage dance and tipping me. I hope I get stage time, but I'll probably just serve drinks for a couple of weeks and learn how things work.
i started in high school too, i turned 18 in the middle of my senior year, so my advice is :have a good excuse ready for your parents, don't overwork yourself, i worked 4 days a week w/ my hs schedule and it SUCKED, don't drink, invest in real stripper shoes and outfits (2-3) right away, regular high heels and underware are a newbie giveaway, and finally :read SW religiously for advanced hustling tips
What a night,
I had gotten there at about four yesterday. The club has a sporty theme to it so all the waitresses wear a referee outfits. Very short skirt and tie front top. The good news is that I can wear normal shoe's while waitressing. It was not to long after I started I began to mess up drink orders, and my biggest screw up, I stumbled over some steps with a pitch of beer and spilled it all over my top. My manager came over to talk to me and I thought I was going to be fired all ready. But she just helped me clean up the mess I made and told me to take my top off (it was happy hour; all girls go topless then). She then wrote NEW GIRL in big letters with a black sharpy on my chest. I relaxed a bit ofter that and the customers stopped complaining as much.
Towards the end of the night I got to dance on the side stages out of the way, which is wear I got most of my money for the night; which was not much. She does not want me on the main stage until I get better and also buy a few outfits.
this is MY opinion. no one flame me for it. seriously.
YOU ARE A BABY. That isn't meant to be mean or anything, i can just see it in the way you type... still in high school? honey, wait til you graduate!
i guess a part of me is scared you will end up like a girl i met who still worked in high school. in a matter of months she dropped out and was addicted to crack and sucking cock to support her habit. all at 18. :(
i hope you find what you are looking for, and i feel like it would be wise for you to wait. but, if there is a reason you need the money, then whatever. but this will force you to grow up faster than you ever thought you would have to.
No I don't take it personally, I see your point. I have no intention of taking drugs or sucking cock to pay for my habit. I have done some work in the hospital with my mom and have seen first hand the outcome of drug use. I will have graduated high school in less then two months and I need a good paying job to help pay for college. Since my Dad died couple years ago I've had to grow up fast. That is just the way my life has been. As long as I'm doing this for good reasons I don't see why I shouldn't. Plus I've never seen what is so wrong about stripping anyways, its just a taboo.
^ i truly hope you do well for yourself. i really do mamita!
^ I started at 18 not still in highschool because I got my GED at 15 but still its really not a big deal .I used to do drugs when I was younger and stopped at 17 I see alot of girls always on drugs, offer me and nope I never gave into the temptation.I just like to drink, not all the time but on occasion.
I'm glad you got your GED and more so that you kicked your drug problem.
I am almost done with High School and dancing to earn some money for college. I am enjoying it so far, its been interesting working mostly on weekends and one or two days during the week.
I didn't know 18 year olds are allowed to serve liquor?
The thing is, high school students, and young girls just don't have the life experiences and maturity to know how to handle adult men in a strip club setting. A few high school boyfriends does nothign to prepare you for what you will encounter in a strip club. I started dancing when I was 21...and even then I was still very very naive at how things really are. I had been on my own since 18, but I still wasn't ready for that kind of life....being able to drink every night, needing to learn how not to drink, how to handle all types of men, where my boundaries are and how to handle people trying to cross them...not just men. Managers, bouncers, other strippers...they all test your boundaries in some way. Stripping can make or break a person, and I realyl think that the younger you are going into it, the better the odds are that dancing will break you....for the few sucess stories there are millions of other stories that are heartbreaking.
I wish you luck, I really do.
I did it as well. I started dancing when I was 17(under age.) It wasn't very difficult for Me at all. My Mom knew and so did My brothers because I lived with them at the time, all My friends knew. The only person who didn't know what My dad so it was alittle nerv frecking when I would see somone I thought My dad knew in the club. I started working where I grew up a town where everyone knows everyone so it wasn't hard for everyone to know I was dancing. My dad found out after and everything was find.
It worked out for Me, I'm still dancing. I just moved back home in Augest and started working at the club I frist worked at and they said "wow I guess this is really what You wanted to do, You started underage and You'r still doing it" :P
But as long as You are thinking of dancing for the right reasons like Taylorlila said it should be alright.
Hello everyone my name is AfoxWilson. I really want to start off in the exotic dancing industry. I would love to chat or AIM with someone possibly. I don't want to get in trouble with the site. I just really need some help starting off and would love to talk to a veteran on the job. Thanks a lot.:(
