How would you interpret this?
Okay - so recently I've lost about 25 pounds. But I mean...I wasn't that big to begin with, just needed some toning up, etc, and to feel more healthy. So I have this friend whos really loud and her mom is even louder. They never EVER think before they speak and they don't ever think they could possibly say anything wrong.
So the other day her mom sees me and hadn't seen me for a while and is like:
"Omg! You've lost so much weight! Last time I saw you the baby hadn't even been born yet and you are already starting to get your girlish figure back!"
She proceeds to die laughing and skip off to inside the restaurant.
I blink a few times and wonder if maybe I just interpreted that wrong? Cause it sounded pretty fucking rude to me.
No?

Re: How would you interpret this?
what....Wait, she was saying you looked pregnant before?!
-
Re: How would you interpret this?
was she serious or being sarcastic??? i'd have told her to keep her rude comments to herself and go play with her insecurities in the closet. well.... ok, maybe not.

Re: How would you interpret this?
Yeah, I would interpret that as pretty fucking rude. Not even my closest friends would say something like that. Some friendships might be like that- kind of talking shit- but this doesn't seem like it. She probably didn't mean to offend you, like you said she is just loud and didn't think before she said it.
whatever, I'm sure you look great, and more importantly, you feel great.

Re: How would you interpret this?
This type of comment has been said to me too. A few years ago I was 20 lbs heavier and an acquaintance smirked and said "when are you due?" I almost cried. Then I left the bar where we were hanging out. OUCH--way harsh and REALLY rude.

Re: How would you interpret this?
Yeah - well it was her mom that said it not my friend, but both have been known to make really rude comments without acknowledging the fact that it was rude.

Thats what I got out of it.
And I quite politely did NOT point out that her family isn't exactly thin. UGH.

Re: How would you interpret this?
Yeah that's definitely the implication.
-
Re: How would you interpret this?
Pooka I'm sorry- I say ignore them/ Congrats to you for getting healthier and feeling good about yourself!!!!
I say let this one slide- they ARE rude and obnoxious- and some day they will make the mistake of saying this in front of the WRONG person. Unfortunately, if you say something, they just may chide you for being a poor sport and failing to take it in stride. It'll catch up to them, don't worry. But good for you.... until then, ignore them- you're better than that.

Re: How would you interpret this?
Well you already know she's rude so I guess this is just another example. Based on how hot your old pictures were, I don't know what she's talking about anyway.

Fugeddaboudit, Pooka!
That spiteful hag will choke on her dessert one day... ;)

Re: How would you interpret this?
she's just being jealous bec. she wishes she oculd lose weight and be as hot as the pooka.
dont let it get to you. you took the high road in not saying shit back.
-
Re: How would you interpret this?
Did she mistake you for someone else possibly?
My friends mum did that once, my friend had 2 other friends with the same first name, one was mean and one was lovely, though they didnt really look alike her mum confussed them once and made a very embarresing scene!

Re: How would you interpret this?
How would I interperet this? I would take it as a statement from someone who obviously doesn't have the adult capability of censoring their speech. And I'd feel bad for them because they probably alienate other people from their lives with that attitude.

Re: How would you interpret this?
Oh I can't believe that! That is just so rude.
Don't worry about them Pooka. Some people are just rude (and possibly insecure) and it always makes them appear badly.
*Hugs* I'm sure from your avatar pic you are way hotter than them anyway :)

Re: How would you interpret this?
Totally rude coming from someone who doesn't know any better
-
Re: How would you interpret this?
Sounds like she made a comment out of jealously and her intent was to hurt your feelings. Is she a big/overweight woman? My guess is yes.
-
Re: How would you interpret this?
i think it was totally inappropriate to choose the words she did to congratulate you on your weight loss.. i definitely believe she is insecure about her own figure and thats why she said it....

Re: How would you interpret this?
Downright rude and nasty. She's jealous.

Re: How would you interpret this?
What a rude nasty classless bitch!
And Pooka...I cant IMAGINE where you found 25 pounds to lose without looking skeletal. Dont change too much...you know I have a crush on you!!
How did you lose it though?

Re: How would you interpret this?
Sounds like a hater to me, Pooka. I wouldn't stress over it. Rock that new body, girl!

Re: How would you interpret this?
Awww, geezzz, I am getting you confused with everyone else on here that's pregnant. I'm not jinxing you I promise.:) So, awww, I see, you weren't pregnant and she said you were. What a narrow-minded cunt.
