Full spectrum lamps?
Does anyone use these lamps/bulbs? I know they are supposed to help with seasonal depression when used in a light box, but do they help if you just use them in your room as everyday lights?
I realized that daylight savings switching is coming and it always messes me up. Not that I generally see much light anyway, except between classes. I was thinking of not using my ceiling (florescent) light anymore and switching to a proper lamp or three.

Re: Full spectrum lamps?
here is all the info you could ever want on them, easy to read cuz its kinda a sales pitch!! http://mercola.com/forms/light_bulbs.htm
i dont think the bulbs are high enough to help with true seasonal depression, but they cant hurt. if you get the compact florescent you will also be saving energy and $$ over time

Re: Full spectrum lamps?
I got one and I thought it helped..(I used to suffer from seasonal depression too and would tan to help me with that.) Anyway, I put them in all the rooms for a while..But, after sometime I really didn't find them THAT useful.. If you decide to tryone, I suggest buying it from Home Depot or Target, it's a lot cheaper than the one I got from Whole Foods. Put it in the room you're in the most and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Full spectrum lamps?
Yep, the mercola webpage is the one I was looking at. I know a light box helps a friend of mine, but that's a whole different method of going about it. I already use the energy saver compact florescents, I just hate the over head one I have now!
Yeah-the ones I've seen at Whole foods are so expensive! I want to get one of those torchiere lamps to replace the overhead-maybe I'll try the cheapy full spectrum ones in it. Thanks!

Re: Full spectrum lamps?
I have one and just set it by the computer ( on for about 15 minutes when I have coffee in the morning ... a little longer in dec. and jan. ) ! I feel like it works pretty well. I get so drained of energy in the winter ( except when I lived in a mild climate ). Utah winters are harsh.
You are supposed to sit close to them. Using the lamp as a light would barely help .
I paid $200 for mine . It seems expensive, but I think mine has been worth it.
I have noticed though that a little is good to start . Do small doses each day .

Re: Full spectrum lamps?
I use the lightbulbs throughout my house.
It might help. I know I get a blah feeling when I'm in fluorescently lit buildings.
