I took my son to his very first concert last night. We saw Bon Jovi at the new Prudential Center. What a beautiful venue. I got the tickets from my boss so we were in his luxury box. Big & Rich opened and they were ok, not my kind of music but entertaining.
G had a blast. The first thing we did was go and buy him a $40.00! friggin' t-shirt, but hey, it was his first concert so what the hell. Then we went over to my friends stand, On The Boardwalk (shameless plug), and got a cheese steak and some cheese fries ate as we walked over to check out the Ice Bar where the bar is actually made of ice. Pretty damn cool. Then we went up to the box and he got himself a coke and a hotdog sat down and took it all in. He danced, he sang, he played air guitar. It ran late for him, I could tell he hit the wall around 10:30 PM. If he could have found a quite spot, he would have gone to sleep. I had two glasses of wine and enjoyed every minute of watching G enjoy every minute.
Bon Jovi was good. I like his old stuff better than his new stuff, but he's turning into a middle aged rocker and so is his music.
The only thing missing was stopping at a diner and have a tayor ham, egg and cheese sandwich, fries with gravy and a slice of pie at 2:00 AM. Ahhh the good ol' days.
We go again next Sunday, Daughtry is the opener.
