As a new client you should be able to get a discount on your first micro, $150 sounds alittle high. Most dermatologists have $99 specials. I only paid about $80 for mine and my dermatologist came highly recommended.
Usually with micro you need a series of treatments. Most skin specialists recommend at least six. One micro generally doesn't yield dramatic results, but everyone's skin is different and I'm not sure what your skin needs are.
Good luck with the procedure, be sure to have a consultation and skin care analysis before any work is done...
Can you tell me about your results and what kind of changes follow the treatment?
My skin just looks ashy and listless recently. Also I am having acne attack on the jaw line for about 2 months, and it stays scabby and gross. I hope this will help.
It might make the acne a little worse in the beginning, but it will definitely help the ashy and listless part, also it makes your pores look smaller.
If you are getting it in canada thats a pretty normal price. You really should think about getting more than one, I usually buy a package of 6 and do them once a month.
Also don't tan your face after.
I've heard good thinga about the do it yourself kits that are $50 at stores like walgreens. Haven't tried one myself, but the reveiws were great. Just a thought if money is an issue. I know it is for me, so I will try this kit.
I have a lot of experience with microderm due to working at european day spa for a long period of time. I loved it, though $150 is pretty steep. I was lucky enough to trade services for my treatments ( I do massage therapy). At our spa, the first time price always included a skin analysis and every treatment after this was significantly cheaper.
When I had my microderm, I typically got it done every two weeks. My pores are HUGE and blackheads are a real issue for me. Microderm works great for these problems. How is your skin? Maybe you can get something out of one treatment, but if pores are a big prob for you, future treatments will most likely be recommended and needed for prolonged results. The first time I had professional microderm, I was AMAZED at the results. For the first time in years, my pores were truly clean! It also reduced the appearance of fine lines.
Expect your skin to be a lil sensitive after the treatment. The crystals are a lil abrasive, but this shouldn't be a painful process. Sweating can really sting, but I only noticed this on the day of the treatment. My estetician always gave me some cooling phyto gel to reduce any redness. Staying out of the sun is a good idea after a treatment. You are having an extreme exfoiliation, revealing a sensitive new layer of skin which tends to make everything a lil more delicate.
Good luck with this! I think you will love it. Your skin is yours forever... pamering it will reward you in beauty.
It has changed my skin. I get it done every 6 weeks for maintenance and my skin is almost perfect and glows. It also stimulates collegin (sp?) so your skin looks younger too.
I used to have lots of comodones and breakouts and it has cleared that up.
Definately worth the money. Facials don't do what micro does.
Update:
I did the microderm last Saturday, 5 days ago. First it was really flaky and made my acne crust stuff worse.
Skin looks a lot better today, especially on the parts that were not acne prone before the treatment.
I paid way too much, there is no way it was worth $150... Anyone in Toronto forget LaFontain Cosmetic Clinic, the prices are rediculous (and no parking).
If I could get a bunch of sessions for like $50 each, I would keep it up, but for now I will not repeat because results are very temporary and do not justify the cost.
Yeah $150 is a lot! Usually there are places offering promotions. I've had microdermabrasion done at PureMedSpa, and some other place in Toronto and wasn't thrilled with the results. I find the results comparable to what I get with Oil of Olay's Microderm and Peel kit.
Will microdermabrasion get rid of freckles/sunspots as well? If so, I'd definitely try it.
