What's a Dragonfish? I googled it and it came back with pics of lionfish, and silver Arowanas. Post a pic of the critter!
I hope its ok!!!! I wuv fishies!! This thread is traumatizing!
almost every fish can jump out of an open-top tank ime. this is especially true if there are other tankmates (i.e. bullying can occur).
the best defense against this is a cover or a screen. a lot of people in my aquarium hobby (reef tanks) use "eggcrate", the plastic checkerboard-like screens people use to diffuse lighting in offices and such. you can find this in home depot or lowes. you snip the screen to size/shape and place it over the tank. it still allows over 90% of the light to get into the tank but usually prevents jumpers from carpet-surfing.
what exactly is the "dragonfish" you're talking about? is it a type of lionfish? dragonette? or something else? just curious.
................Thats what their faces look like
that is an ugly mofo...a face only a mother could love (on pay day)
................... and thts the closest pic I can get to the way it looks all around .My camara isn't working so I cant post pics .
I had an Oscar jump out once. I had a habit of showing it off and hand feeding it. He came flying right out, big sucker. Never did that again.
I had the lid up. It had to be held down with a couple rocks, they are smart buggers...he would see people and jump up alot trying to get a hand-out.... Funny.
That's a crazy deepwater saltwater fish in those pics. Hmm. I'm intrigued.
Is it one of these?

um kind of looks like it but no. The one I have is black, and is just ugly that one looks kind of pretty.
Hmmm. I'm on the case. I'm assuming it's freshwater?
I might have missed this part, but did it die or did you get it back in water?
Can you poke it with a spoon or something into the garbage disposer?
That's one freaky fish.
Oh my god it is alive .God I suck im scared to fish it out so I have the water faucet running so it can have water.
take two paper bags or dark plastic trash bags, place one over the head and use the other to grab it's tail. the head bag is to prevent it from nipping at you and calm it down (it won't be able to see you). then dump it back intot the tank.
running the faucet water may not be the best idea although keeping it moist is a good idea.
you can also try using a stick to loop under the body while grabbing its tail. kinda like handling a snake.
Im seriously sad right now I feel like crying. My fishy hurt itself trying to jump out of the sink hole. Just when I got the balls to try to save him he died
awww poor fish
