It didn't die.I am a fishy saver.I got a chopstick and got him to jump out again put a drain stopper and now he's living in the sink hopefully my hubby comes soon so he can put it back in the aquarium .

Do you have a pair of kitchen tongs???? I would gently "tong" him back in.

Yay fish saving! I had a betta fish that leapt out one time while I was trying to clean out it's tank and before I thought I grabbed it off the floor with my hands and threw it back in! Ewwww. Maybe you can use a colander or gravy ladle to get him back in? Tong s shouldn't hurt him either-especially not if he survived this far! Sounds like a hearty fish-looks like one of those awesome deepwater fish from The Blue Planet series. I sort of want one.
I would not be able to sleep with that thing in my house.
