What system do you have?
I technically challenged, lol. I just have a desktop with Microsoft Windows XP 2002, Home Edition.
what browser do you use and what antivirus are you using?
I am using Internet Explorer and Norton Antivirus but sometimes I disable it because it slows things down but I still get the errors.
Now it says I am low on "virtual memory"?
Try this first: Right click the start button > explore > documents and settings > yourname > local settings > temporary internet files and delete all of them. You'll have to sign back into SW, but it should help.
Update your antivirus, check your task manager, use firefox.
Yeah, I deleted all my temporary internet files and update my antivirus daily. I just got another it said "Internet Explorer encountered an error and needs to close". Should I try another browser?
I am going to defragment my files.
Can't you add RAM though?
virtual memory most likely is a problem with a program that is running. Restarting computer seems to be by far the best computer advice ever given. Try firefox or opera and see if you have any problems or if you only have problems with a particular website. No need to defrag.
Go into the Task Manager and on the Processes tab take a look at the "Mem Usage" column. What pocesses have the highest value?
Also, what is the exact error you are getting?
Try repairing/replacing the video card drivers. You'll need to know what you have for a video card. I've seen this error on a few computers.
However, there are gazillions of these, so a screen shot or some of the error message would help.
Next time I get an error message I'll post a copy of it. Mem Usage is svchost.exe 18,308, iexplore.exe 18,216, explorer.exe 10,816, ccApp.exe 10,608, regscan 7,648, ccProxy.exe 6,412. Those are the top few. Physical Memory total is 523,244and available is 245,608. I don't know how to find out about virtual memory or replace video drivers.:-\
You have a bug. A rather nasty one at that.
Do this:
close all your applications that use the internet.
go to start
click on run
type in:
cmd
and hit enter.
A black screen will come up.
Type in netstat -a
the normal computer should be able to fit the information all in one screen. My assumption is that yours will run a bit. Does it?
I can help you in removing it if you'd like.
that's actually a VERY good thing. Have you tried windows up dates? In IE under the help button, click ABOUT. What version of IE are you running.
I'll pm you the next step.
running 6.0
You might try going to tools > windows updates and moving to IE7. It may be worth the shot and get rid of the error.
