Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
Hi Guys!
I'm a moderator on
We help people get their internet fakers deleted and keep track of the fakers to stop people getting fooled by them.
I just found this community and wondered if some of you might be having problems.
Is anyone here having problems with fakers?
On fakersbusted you can:
- Ask our members about anyone you suspect of being fake
- Ask our members if they've seen any fakers of you
- Set up a page to keep track of fakers as you try and get them deleted
- Get site-specific help on getting fakers deleted
- Get related advice like help writing DMCA complaints and dealing with stalkers.
Now, some of the things we do are only really useful if things get bad. Some girls have thousands of fakers. The most common use would be to come here and find out if someone you know online is really a fake.
My two golden rules:
1. Don't post anything online that you don't want the world to see
2. Don't get emotionally involved with someone you meet online until you've met them in real life.
Brad :great:
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
heh, i've had quite a few myspace fakers now. some of them completely steal my pics, name, persona, everything, and pretend to be me. others just take my pics and use a different name etc and tell people that my photos are of them.
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
That's pretty cool you guys are doing that. Another reason I don't indulge at the "Look at Me" trend of such public forums. They're awesome, but I can't deal with the madness.
So, Darcy do you confront them or do you just let it ride?
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
i just send a salute to myspace admin and they get it taken down pretty promptly. the first time it happened i freaked out a bit, but now that it's happened more often it doesn't really stress me out. i just think it's kinda lame.
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
Hmm. I always wondered what people did in those cases.

That's pretty much it, although some websites out there are more difficult to deal with than others and many have slow response times. Some like to have a lot of members so they don't like to delete ones because it makes the website smaller. Crazy! ::)
And some people get hardcore stalkers stealing their identity and faking their friends to make them seem real.
Other people get really emotionally involved too. One guy was ready to propose to a girl after talking to her on the phone for months and months, but she was fake and he never met her.
Then there are the attention-whores who pretend to have cancer etc. It's hard to believe that people get sucked in to it, but I did once too :O
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
I wish someone was pretending to be me, I'd feel loved. Lol.
Hell I'll even supply the pics for them!
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
Nobody ever pretends to be me... I guess psycho bitch just isn't cool these days.

Many fakers pretend to be bisexual or gay. Would you be cool with that? :D
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
OMG i am the queen of myspace fuckin faker shit! My pictures and all. I blamed all of this on a former bf...only to find out yet again i had another profile going....for phone sex no doubt!
My daughter has an account and finds my pics. ALOT. One was phone sex and wanting money OUCH..i contacted myspace. Another was an escort service, and a private profile that had my pic. as the main pic.
Myspace is cool about taking them all down, oh they know me now!
But it's bullshit...that crap has got to stop.>:(
Some dumb fucks (yes they are too) actualy believe it's me...well myspace can do an IP check....it's not.
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
Heh, there's a lot of escort/phone service/adult dating MySpaces that have stolen my pics. I'm a bisexual 19 year old from Texas, a lesbian 21 year old from L.A... and so on, and so on.
I only ever had one really creepy one though, someone was using my pics, both my real and stage name, and was posting detailed descriptions of photo shoots I was doing with many different photographers. They were making friends and posting as me. They knew way too much personal info about me to just be a random, so it definitely had to be someone who knows me quite well, but I never found out who it was.
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
How can you search for your own pics to see if people are stealing and using them?
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?
I've started having problems with the imposters recently, I had two pop up in the same week. Normally my friends will come across the profiles and let me know. I also had someone steal a blog. I've been turning them into myspace when it happens, but I've encountered it on other sites as well. I have a blog up right now on dealing with spammers and imposters.
Re: Internet fakers - Anyone had problems?

Join the forums there. You might need to make a post in the Introductions forum first to see all the forums.
Start a thread in the "Have you seen me?" forum:
Girls:
Boys:
When you start the topic, include at least one picture of yourself and a link to your myspace / whatever you use. Title your thread something like "Kaylinn @ myspace"
Lurk a little or ask questions if you need help ;)

Any publicity is good publicity.

you can't, really. i just have thousands of myspace friends and occasionally one of them will happen to come across a profile using my photos and they'll let me know.
