Swedish people and people familiar with Sweden...
I need your help!!
Ok, so I was in Stockholm this summer, and there was this little stand in a park that served these really delicious sandwiches. The sandwich I had had cheese, shrimp, egg, and I think tomato. It sounded gross, but this hot Swede convinced me to try it, so I did. ;D
It was deeeelicious!!!
Does anyone know the name of this sandwich. I think it's a Swedish thing, thats why I'm asking.
Any ideas?

Wish i could help. I am from Sweden, but raised in US, so i suck at names of Swedish dishes.
Try Google. ;)

No, it wasn't that. But they sold those there as well. Dammit, I called my friend I went with and she can't remember anyway.
Oh well, guess I gotta go back to Stockholme to find out! (I love that place.) :'(

No way!! (Jealous.) I loved everything, absolutely everything about Sweden. My first vacation house will be there. It's one of my long term goals.
Anyway, it was an open sandwich on knäckebröd (that crispy bread), but it was hot.
Re: Swedish people and people familiar with Sweden...
was in it Gamla Stan? :)
i love it there too...
Re: Swedish people and people familiar with Sweden...
I've eaten Swedish meatballs from Ikea before, a loooong time ago. It was good, I would love to try more Swedish foods.
Re: Swedish people and people familiar with Sweden...
I was really jonesing for the food when I went, but it was actually TOUGH to find the real Swedish food.
everywhere is tacos, italian, thai, etc!
but the further i got from Stockholm, the more authetic stuff was easier to find, and tasted better.

Well I'm swedish and I have never heard of it. Knäckebröd is a typical swedish bread, but with cheese and shrimp?... Hmm =)

I don't think she forgot, gamla stan is a place where they thrive in tourism - they call everyting swedish there just to sell it =) maybe it's a good invention though, I have no idea... Typical swedish food is as mentioned smörgåstårta and sill (herring), köttbullar (meatballs), älg or ren (moose or raindeer) etc

Re: Swedish people and people familiar with Sweden...
i'd willingly die my hair and wear blue contacts
but im swedish blood and in LA so close enuf? :D
Re: Swedish people and people familiar with Sweden...
The sandwich might have a name that was only used in that shop. Like, if you were to go to a certain local restaurant, you might have a "Thomas Divan," but if you went somewhere else and asked for one, they would not know what it was. You know what was in it, so experiment with the ingredients, make your own, and call it whatever you want!

Re: Swedish people and people familiar with Sweden...
I love Sweden and have gone there many times. Two of my boyfriends (Ex and current) have been Swedish. My first Swede boy was tall with blond hair and blue eyes, my current boyfriend is Swedish, born and raised, and is also tall, but is of 100% Mandingo/West African decent. Not everyone there is blond ;)
