Upcoming election, what will come of it?
I've noticed lately that our club is starting to crack the whip a little. One of our housemoms (who I love to death, she's the nicest lady:)) has been going around the club and making the effort of cleaning up the dances by saying things to the girls when they're doing something they're not supposed to do. I learned last night that all nightclubs not just SC's will be under close watch ensuring all ordinances are being followed. I personally like the fact that the club is cleaning things up but what it has done is put fear in me. The fear is, with the upcoming election if a dancer does some extras, we all could get in trouble for it. I'm not sure what to think. This is my first "election time" as a dancer and am wondering what I should and should not be worried about. I'm sure we might see some loss in customer spending because we're technically supposed to be an airdance only club (but you know we're not living in a perfect world and people get away with things). I'm not scared so much though of loss of money, just scared of going down if someone else f*cks up, basically, guilty by association. Please give me your thoughts and/or experience on this. Melonie?;)

Well, Election Day was the 6th. I don't know what sort of people got elected in your area, but it might be wise to find out. It would depend on their various platforms whether or not they intend to worry about strip clubs or not.
From Wikipedia:
Quote:
The United States general elections of 2007, to be held on Tuesday, November 6, are off-year elections in which no members of the Congress are standing for election. There will, however, be three gubernatorial races, state legislative elections in four states, numerous citizen initiatives, mayoral races in several major cities, and a variety of local offices on the ballot.
Gubernatorial elections
Main article: United States gubernatorial elections, 2007
Three states will be electing governors in 2007, although only two of them will vote on November 6, namely Kentucky and Mississippi. Louisiana's election dates do not coincide with that of most states: Louisiana held its open primary on October 20.
State legislative elections
Four states will be electing state legislators in 2007: Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey and Virginia. All but Louisiana will hold their elections on November 6, 2007. Louisiana's general election will be held on November 17.
Municipal elections
Numerous cities, counties, school boards, special districts and others are due to elect members in 2007. Of those, some of the most high-profile include mayoral elections in Baltimore, Memphis, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Salt Lake City.
If you are working in a strip club you are at least 18 and should be voting in every election. It is wise to know what is going on in your area and to cast your vote.
Re: Upcoming election, what will come of it?
A lot of federal money is flowing to local governments to help fight white slavery. I am staying away from clubs that have a lot of Eastern European dancers. I am also staying away from asian massage places. I don't want to deal with women who have no choice about their activities anyway.
Re: Upcoming election, what will come of it?
Church, neighborhood and civic groups go after strip clubs about 90 days before a local election. It gives the challengers a basis for claiming that the incumbents have done nothing about spreading blight. Incumbents respond by demanding a police crackdown. After about three months of this--and the election--things go back to whatever was normal in your area.
Re: Upcoming election, what will come of it?
I really wouldn't worry. You can't get busted because the girl next to you is giving a flithy dance ;)
Re: Upcoming election, what will come of it?
^^^Oh yes you can! That is entirely untrue. Melonie will chime in soon and give you all the info you could possibly want, but you can never feel safe just because you are doing what you are supposed to do. If the club goes down, you go down with it. Incidentally, I'd venture to say that most of the dances we give are technically illegal anyway. Of course it depends from municipality to municipality but you'd be surprised how often the standard dance practices belie the actual laws. Should the local goverment ever decide to enforce them...
Re: Upcoming election, what will come of it?
in our area if one girl gets busted for being dirty everyone gets busted. we all lose our jobs and the manager is fined quite a bit. we have a 3 foot rule in our club and not only that we are not allowed to do lapdances. it's a rule that's supposed to be in all the clubs in my area but we're the only one abiding by it. i'm guessing the others are paying off someone since each violation equals a higher fine each time.

Not wanting to get political in this forum, but the answer to that question depends a lot on the economic policies advocated by particular candidates. In that regard you can probably go a long way toward answering your own question ...
A. - what is the demographic characteristic of the typical 'spending' customer in your club ? I'm not necessarily talking about head count since this includes two drink stage tippers as well as Champagne Room gentlemen. I mean what is the economic demographic on the type of customers who actually provide the serious dancer earnings potential in your club ?
B - how are the financial policies being advocated by the various political candidates likely to affect the amount of money those 'spending' customers will have to spend after the next election takes place ? Is a failure to extend GWB's income tax cuts and/or a failure to remove Alternative Minimum Tax liabilities going to take a lot of money out of their pockets ? Would an increase in the Social Security tax ceiling from $90,000 per year to $200,000 per year take a lot more money out of their pockets ? Will an increase in minimum wage / business taxes etc. reduce the profitability of the business the club customer owns or works for, thus lowering future bonuses and cancelling future pay raises ?
C - how are the other policies being advocated by the various candidates going to impact these club customers via unintended consequences. If gas prices are $1 per gallon higher than they otherwise would have been due to environmentalists refusal to drill for more American oil and due to a gov't mandate to blend domestically produced ethanol, how much money does that extra $1 per gallon 'siphon off' in terms of necessary expenditures for your typical club customer ? If property taxes are 25% higher than they otherwise would have been due to gov't mandates that communities must provide social welfare benefits to illegal aliens, how much additional money does that extract from your typical club customer ?
Ultimately, lap dances and VIP room sessions are a 'luxury' i.e. a 'discretionary expenditure' on the part of club customers. If the customer's after tax income is shrinking due to steep tax increases, and if at the same time the customers' costs for 'necessary' expenditures is rising due to gov't policies/mandates, this squeezes the available pool of customer 'discretionary spending' dollars from both ends. Ironically, many dancers who don't take the time to think through the consequences of various political economic policies on their 'spending' customers are often strong supporters of the very political economic policies that will reduce club customer 'discretionary spending' and therefore reduce their own earnings potential.

All too true. In the absence of 'hard evidence' of a dancer's innocence, if a local cop decides to bust every girl in the club it will then become a matter of credibility. A local jury will have to decide whether to believe that a well respected local cop may be stretching the truth, or believe that a lying, thieving, drug addicted whore 'stripper' is lying to save her own ass. Considering that your average jury is made up of pissed off dumpy housewives whose husbands 'waste money' in local strip clubs, plus bible thumpers, plus civil servants whose future job security depends on keeping the local mayor happy, they have little reason to give an innocent dancer the benefit of the doubt. And considering that the mainstream media has publicized the Duke Rape Case dancer, Anna Nicole Smith, the Kobe Bryant case etc. they have little reason to believe that a dancer might actually be innocent.
