For me it's an of the Panic! At The Disco songs because they're usually humorous :P
Jellyfish
Mexican Banda & Ranchero Music, Mariachi Music
Tenacious D
Bloodhound Gang
Follow Me - that old house song
Buffalo Soldier - B. Marley (anything off that album actually)
Zion - Lauren Hill
ALMOST anything Fatman Scoop, Ludacris, and/or Timbaland touch - (gets me hyped)
The Cure, Benny Benassi, Poe.
Anything Beatles-related.
David Bowie!!! "Let's Dance"...makes me smile everytime!
Anything by Social Distortion
Cocteau Twins (very relaxing)
Stellastarr*
early Cure (79-85)
some techno/dance stuff
Killers
Mike Ness' solo stuff
Big band tunes
The album 'Places Like This' by Architecture in Helsinki. Too upbeat to resist the temptation to dance around my apartment...
I have a "Happy" playlist in iTunes. I tag any song that has upbeat positive lyrics or otherwise makes me smile and feel like dancing. Here's the top 10 from that list:
- "Ruby Sees All" - Cake
- "Terminal Annex" - Harvey Danger
- "Holiday" - Green Day
- "Guitar" - Cake
- "Common People" - William Shatner
- "Stickshifts and Safetybelts" - Cake
- "Just Wait" - Blues Traveler
- "Last Night I Dreamed" - Blues Traveler
- "Run Around" - Blues Traveler
- "Hotel Yorba" - The White Stripes
The one by William Shatner is awesome. I could be in the deepest darkest funk ever, and hearing that song will still put a smile on my face. Might just be me, though.
There's 93 songs on the playlist. That's out of an almost 5000 song library.
Next couple of songs are by the Blues Brothers (man, I miss John Belushi) and one by Bad Religion - heh. Bad Religion's cynicism almost always makes me feel better, even though that seems counter-intuitive.
Young Love
The Zoolander Soundtrack
I used to listen to a lot of glam rock music in high school to lift my spirits.
This is embarrassing! Lol!!! Aqua...
Rufus Wainwright, Neko Case, and Cat Power. I feel like they're talking to me and sympathizing.
Rick Astley.
Seriously, how bad can life suck after hearing anything from his first two albums? =P
Dude is a legal upper! XD
Moody Blues. Very uplifting lyrics (well, not all of the songs but) and dreamy. I really should have been a hippie. Also, any songs that remind me of dancers I adore. :D
Oh Lord, can't believe I'm admitting this but....
Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch or Will Smith
Something about "Good Vibrations" and "Gettin' Jiggy With It" makes me really happy and I start dancing wherever I am.
Fuck yeah! Barbie Girl and Candyman are happy songs for me too. ;D
I love anything by 4strings too (it's techno/trancey stuff) esp. Diving and Take Me Away.
And I know this one is really reandom, but Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash. Almost anything by Johnny Cash perks me up, even Hurt though it makes me kinda EMO. :P
Blondie and the Scissor Sisters, totally. Can't be in a bad mood when they're on.
It's usually 'bubblegum rock'... i.e.; Lifehouse ("Spin"), The Goo Goo Dolls (especially "Slide"), and Matchbox 20 ("3 AM"). :P I can't help it... I love me some bubblegum tunes. http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/ima...ons/icon10.gif
Disturbed - Land Of Confusion (Genesis Cover)
I like it better than the original too.

Yay, so I'm not the only one! ;D Johnny Cash fucking ROCKS!
Yeah, I have a "morning mix" I listen to on my Project Playlist account. Wicked Game by Giant Drag and Perfect Exceeder by Princess Superstar are a couple I just added. They all get me on the right vibe for my day I guess you could say.
Float On by Goldspot, its a cover of the Modest Mouse version, but it makes me so friggin happy:).
Yes he does. I made a CD of my fave songs by him and it's one of my "driving" CD's.
Some other things that put me in a good mood are New Wave hits from the 80's; like Missing Persons, the Go-Gos, some B-52's and stuff like that.
Although that might be because I was a teenager when that type of music was popular.
