The SoCal HanuKwaniChrismikah! (i.e. are you stranded, too?)
So! I dunno about the rest of you so-callies, but i sure as hell don't feel like spending the holidays with the rat and the bike. ;D I'm going back home to see my fam the day after christmas, but only for 2 days. I know yek and alexxa aren't originally from here... dunno about the rest, but I thought it might be nice if we could get a little something going sometime around the holidays. i know people have plans and money gets tight- this doesn't have to be expensive- perhaps just a fun dinner?? i was thinking perhaps this time we could meet up in Long Beach- the last time was in H'wood (i'm pissed i missed it, sorry!) and asking san diegans to drive to h'wood is LOOOng.... the LBC (and this is closer to OC) is driving distance. and yes, i would have space on my floor/futon if 1-2 people needed to crash. (not much more though... if anyone remembers my backwards webcam pics from 'old me'- uhh... the walls you saw are definitely the borders of the room. yes, i live in a prison cell).
But i think it would be fun to reserve a big-ass table at a pub or something w/ good grub (nothing extravagant) and have a good time! If we met up at my house, there's street parking, we can walk to a bunch of places as I live RIGHT on a really awesome street w/ a bunch of cool places, I'm close to freeways, and I'm 2 blocks from the ocean. And if we want to get really plastered we can have fun causing trouble at a nearby bar... err, right. :P Because people are planning shit around chistmas- what if we had a get-together around hanukkah???? it's EARLY this year... it starts the 5th. anyone down for some holiday cheer? :D
(and budai if you don't at LEAST drop by....)

Re: The SoCal HanuKwaniChrismikah! (i.e. are you stranded, too?)
That sounds like so much more fun than schlepping to Memphis to see my family. Unfortunately when you tell your dying grandmother that you'll come home to see her, you kinda have to go home to see her.
I'm down if we do something for Chanukah though. We won't be leaving until around the 22nd or so.

Re: The SoCal HanuKwaniChrismikah! (i.e. are you stranded, too?)
I'm leaving for Iowa City on the 23rd or the 24th, but I'd be down for something a little before then for sure!

^^ YAY!!! yeah, i was thinking more around hanukkah too... like, the 5-12th. i know i'll be busier around christmas and i know alexxa will be gone around the same time you will be. I have a menorah! we can light it and drink manischewitz! (shush.. manishewitz is good for ANY jewish occasion. screw pesach-only-wine tradition. :P )

Re: The SoCal HanuKwaniChrismikah! (i.e. are you stranded, too?)

We can light a menorah, I'll buy a bottle of manischewitz for me and another bottle of something else & BYOB for whatever else... we can make latkes and i'll get a headcount and get us a reservation @ some place around here... and you can watch my rat take all my clothes out of my cabinet and drag them into his cage. :P

Re: The SoCal HanuKwaniChrismikah! (i.e. are you stranded, too?)
Weird. I, also, am an Irish/Jew mix. Dad's southern Russian Jew and mom's Irish/Welsh. :)

Re: The SoCal HanuKwaniChrismikah! (i.e. are you stranded, too?)
My child will be a Chinese-Southern-Irish-Jew. Wrap your head around that one.

I'm almost exactly the same but reversed! Dad's irish, mom's latvian/hungarian.
