Tipped for standing up for oneself??
Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Basically a customer is rude or condescending or cocky, and you call them out on it. This results in the customer realizing that he was wrong, and giving you a tip or deciding that you have enough "spunk" in you that you'd probably give a good lapdance after all, and he buys something from you.
Here is an example of this: The other night, I was selling shots and I approached a group of 3 middle aged guys. I cheerfully asked them how their night was, and before I could even offer them a shot, the one guy saw my shot tray in my other hand and started shaking his hands desperately and saying, "Ohhhh no, we don't want any of that! Keep that away from us." If you've read my post on the "Customer Pet Peeves" thread, you know how much I detest this reaction...
So I shot back in a rather salty tone, "Fine, but geez you could be a little friendlier about it."
The customer realized that I was right, apologized for being so rude, and handed me $5. Basically he paid me the same amount as he would have if he'd bought a shot, but I didn't have to go through the whole shot-giving routine and I didn't have to pay out the $2 to the bar for the shot(for every shot I sell, I tip out $2 to the bar). So the $5 he gave me was actually an easier $5 than if I sold him a shot! :)
I've had similar instances of this happening. It seems like these days, I am more assertive, self-defensive, and I sometimes smart off to customers that say rude comments. Although there's been a few customers that did nothing but get slightly more annoyed by my "talking back" to them, for the most part I'd say it's helped me more than hurt me. Or maybe it's just me, or maybe I'm not seeing things for what they really are?...
But anyway, has anyone else experienced this? I wonder if maybe my "talking back" and defending myself is a turn-on to guys, because it shows that I have self-worth and self-respect?
Re: Tipped for standing up for oneself??
Called a dude an asshole when he pulled the whole 'work for this dollar' bullshit. He gave me a twenty and apologized. His friends tried to have him kicked out just before that because none of the dancers would dance for them on stage because their friend was being an asshat.
Re: Tipped for standing up for oneself??
ive had guys tell me they like that im honest and buy dances. i dont give them a typical "oh hehe haha im a silly girl" answer, i tell them no, i do not enjoy being touched or whatever the situation is.
Re: Tipped for standing up for oneself??
Yes, I have had that happen. This guy pulled the whole "work for this dollar" thing, holding up a one dollar bill. I laughed in his face. I don't do the booty popping thing, never will. So I walked off after asking him if he had just gotten paid. When I came back around, he put down a $20. I simply raised an eyebrow. So he threw down another $20. Long story short he kept throwing down $20 bills until he reached about $600. I then I scooped up the money and said, "Thank you...next time, make it $100s..." and walked off.
Re: Tipped for standing up for oneself??
^ Oh wow that's evil!! :D I hope I can become as demanding as that someday. I love how you reacted...I think you are my new hero on how to be a bitch-in-a-good-way! :)
Re: Tipped for standing up for oneself??
Thank you. If you expect it, you will receive it. I demand respect so I get it.
Re: Tipped for standing up for oneself??
Yep. I belted a young fuck across the face who was being a douche during his birthday dance, and an old never-spends-ANY-money guy got up from the corner, walked over and tipped me. :D
Re: Tipped for standing up for oneself??
Yes, Ive had this happen a few times.
My favorites:
Once I was on stage and a guy sitting at a near by table was yelling at me and giving me the forks, (two finger salute.) So I lept off of the stage, grabbed him by the collar and asked him what his problem was. He was angry because strippers make more money than he does but I had him by the collar, gave him a piece of my mind and he appologised. As I walked back to the stage another customer stopped me and tipped me $50 for the way I dealt with the situation (-:
Another time a customer kept annoying me all night, grabbing me everytime I walked past and calling me over to him to waste my time with stupid questions when I wasnt walking past. On the 5th time he called me over I noticed that he had soft toed shoes on so I walked up to him, smiled and then stamped as hard as I could on his foot with the big chunky heel of my shoe. The guy immeadiatly bought a lap dance with me, lol.
Re: Tipped for standing up for oneself??
A guy was sitting at my rack blowing cigarette smoke in my direction. He kept waving me over but I just said "No thanks, I don't smoke" (sarcastically, I was referring to not wanting to breathe his second-hand smoke). He started griping, saying he could smoke wherever he wanted. "Only for another year!"I smirked. I explained that the smoking ban was going into effect in one year here in Portland. He says:"That's fucking stupid. Can't they think of more important things to do than ban smoking?" To which I replied: "I can certainly think of better things to spend my money on than a doctor's bill for bronchitis, which I got twice last year because of people like you!"
Not only did he shut up, he put his cigarette out and tipped me fives for my next three songs!;D
Re: Tipped for standing up for oneself??
Ha, this happened YESTERDAY to my friend and I when we were dancing together. He didnt tip me so I called him an asshole earlier and we were being complete bitches to him. He was literally throwing money at us.
I loved it.
