Places to hand out business cards
My friend and I decided that we are going to do some self promoting because our club is really crappy at it. Also we're going to get the club cards that you can put your schedule on and all that and hand those out. I was also thinking we could leave some at some places but what kind of places should we hand them out/leave them at?

Re: Places to hand out business cards
I always have my cards on me. Printed on them is my myspace address and the websites of the two clubs I work at. If I am at the bar and meet someone, I just say "Hey this is where I work as a dancer. Drop in and say hi sometime." I hand them out like candy. It also helps to give them to anyone in the club who is spending money. I give them to anyone who gets a dance. Maybe you could also leave them at porn stores, adult toy shops, lingere shops...

Re: Places to hand out business cards
That's a good idea actually!
I am getting posters made up to promote me and will send them via the post to adult stores especially those in the rural areas as I don't mind the travelling
Hearts - a question for you, has anyone actually come in and got a dance from you handing out those cards?
I think it is a really good way to get regulars as they can follow you from night to night and always have the reminder of you in the back of their wallet
Do you find that a majority of guys throw out the cards in fear that their wives or girlfriends will find it?

I'm curious about this also. A friend of mine who was a dancer 10 years ago used to go out to an upscale country dance place (yes, such a thing exists down here) and hand her cards out. She figured rich cowboys were her best customers and that was where to find them. She claims it worked really well and I always thought it was a cool idea. Never done it myself though. I try to be incognito about my dancing, since I have a dayjob that would be majorly compromised if anyone knew what a filthy whore I am.;D

Re: Places to hand out business cards
When I went promoting last, yes, at least 2 custies did come in and get dances. one said he loved seeing me in my street clothes and then without clothing. he said that was the sexiest part. Nat, great idea!

Re: Places to hand out business cards
I wouldn't leave them at porn stores. Seems like you might attract some real creepy pervs. I'd hand them out whenever guys hit on you at the grocery store or the gym. And take them when you go out clubbing, cuz you KNOW there's going to be 65486164 guys hitting on you there. Anywhere you meet people, that's a fantastic place. Just carry your cards with you in your purse.

Re: Places to hand out business cards
Okay, my customer is always the middle aged married guy, so I could see guys not wanting a card with my dancer name and the club name. :-\ I wonder if they'd think it was funny if I made up a fake biz. Holiday's Plumbing or something...

Well if you're always using the name holiday, maybe your card should be holiday-themed. lol. Your catch phrase could say something to the effect of "Spreading Holiday cheer year-round" or something like that. I'm not good at coming up with creative ideas, but you get my drift..

Re: Places to hand out business cards
is this in any way illegal?? or dangerous perhaps?
has anyone out here have any experience doing this??
I"ve been thinking of doing this for a long time..

Haha. No actually my name isn't Holiday, but that's a cute idea.

Re: Places to hand out business cards
my club gives "free admission" and "free drinks" cards to us. there's a blank for our dancer name...
the free admission one says "come see me at thee dollhouse"
the other one says "i invite you to have a complimentary cocktail" or something like that.
we also have cards we can write our scedule on.
we only just started really doing it, but i have seen a few people come in. however, i haven't been randomly handed them out. i'm with my boyfriend 95% of the time, so it might be awkward.
i mostly give them to guys in the club who bought mutiple dances from me. a kind of "come back and see me again" thing.
if they spend a lot of money our club is good about letting us give VIP for a month cards, which means they get free admission and a free drink every time they come in. we have to ask the manager on duty for those when we want them, but ive never had anyone say no.

I hand my business cards to clients that take me to the CR. I made up a fake "real name" and put on it that I'm a professional dancer and model. I said this because if this card got into the wrong hands, you don't want to deal with any drama of a jealous girlfriend/wife knowing thier man knows a stripper. Also in some places it's considered solicitation for a sexual service if you title yourself as an exotic dancer. On my card I have my website, myspace( with my dance schedule and dancer names), email and phone number. That may be too much info but to me it's my way making them feel it's personal, not just business.
Please be careful where you hand these out if you decide to go to places to promote yourself. Many cities/places will see this as solicitation and can have you kicked out or worse arrested. Discretion is very important.
I have made a $200 investment for 1000 cards. They are great quality with front and back art and a studio pic of me.
I must admit that handing out cards doesn't bring much business 80% of the time. I rarely hear from many of them again. It could be the Vegas clientele where they forget about you when they fly back home and/or they're wives/girlfriends found out or might find out so they toss it. Either way, it's a tax write off so it's not going to hurt to make the investment.

At my club we have the same cards except we are not allowed to give them inside the club or to regs. I have yet to give one out. It is just to awkward. "Hi I don't know you but I'm a stripper. Come see me and I will grind on your lap. kbye"

I use to think it was great to tell guys all the time I was a stripper untill my friend and I got held up by a guy that knew she was a stripper.
Now I dont tell anyone what I do, I think its to dangerous!

Re: Places to hand out business cards
Weird, one of the girls was talking about this today at work. She said that she did this and the club found out and she got in big trouble. Apparently they felt that it was soliciting unlawfully or something stupid. Huh.
-
Re: Places to hand out business cards
thats exactly what I would think also! If the club started finding all these cards laying around they would know they would have to come from me - who else would hand out cards with my name on them?
I wouldn't want to be done for solicitation or something - I was thinking about making 1/2 size business cards - something that can be slipping into someone's hand that only includes minor details and only give them to a small selection of people - but I don't really want to take the chance of accusations of solicitation - kind of seems like a big risk for a small payout..

Re: Places to hand out business cards
If you have the clubs name and your schedule then it's obvious you're trying to get them in the club, and not otc for extras/private parties.
i think that's a safer bet

Re: Places to hand out business cards
I can't see it being a problem with your club info and schedule on it.
www.jakprints.com is a good place for cards. great quality and great price.

Re: Places to hand out business cards
Well we have a club website that is on the card, and on the website they have a chat board and also all the schedules listed. The card has like a check box for M-S Day or night shift so I'm assuming they want us to tell guys when we work. And at the top it says experience _______________ which is where I put "veronica." My boss gave me the cards so I'm assuming it's ok to hand them out to club regulars.
I gave them to a guy that comes in alot to try to coax him to come onto the website and actively check my schedule and email me on the board. I think he's going to!
Lol Chrissy--- there was a thread on the club board about how guys love seeing us in our "street clothes." (Like when we walk through the club to leave or if we stop in the club. The boys are so funny haha.)
Now I'm worried about this soliciation thing though I don't want anything like that to happen I'll have to look that up. Good ideas though!

Re: Places to hand out business cards
Coffee Shops. Particularly those close to large business hotels ( chains like Marriot , DoubleTree , Hilton ect. ). You wouldn't need to hand them out, just stick them on the board or leave them where there is other info .
VistaPrint.com has very affordable cards and even free ones if you let them put their logo on the back of your card.

that's ridiculous that you can't give them to customers (in my opinion). my club is pretty good about letting us deal with some of the marketing/cultivating to possible regulars in that aspect. they don't mind us giving out some free drink or admission cards. most of the time i give them to people who don't "need" them, it's just a nice gesture and can get them to come back.

Re: Places to hand out business cards
oh and, as to if it's legal or not, i don't see why it wouldn't be. our clubs cards have the club name and number on them and, aside from our dancer name and scedule, they have no personal information about us.
stripping is not illegal and neither is advertising for it. the only time you -might- get in trouble is if you put the cards somewhere that is clearly not accepting of that sort of advertising.

Re: Places to hand out business cards
Sorry to interrupt, but for those that want to try giving out cards...
How about a coupon, to save a few $ off of a dance?
 :twocents: dance dollars?
