MySpace for stripping personas?
So I was thinking about making a myspace for my stripper persona, Kitty. My club doesn't have any real means of advertising, so I was wondering if some self-promotion was in order.
All I would post there is my schedule and the like. No facial pictures, I don't think that would be advisable. No meeting offline, except in the club.
What do you think? is that a bad idea? I do see the downsides, but if it could increase my revenue and get me some regulars I would enjoy it.

Meh... I have a myspace for my stripping persona. I don't really use it (since I am damn lazy) but I think it's a good idea.

Re: MySpace for stripping personas?
Yeah the myspace in my signature is my stripper page. I also don't post face pics but it's where I go to blog about dancing and other sexual things that I don't want everyone knowing. I haven't been dancing long enough to where I'd use it for regulars and stuff--probably wouldn't be worth it in my current club--but I might try it later when I'm more serious about dancing.

Re: MySpace for stripping personas?
I think it would be good for self advertisement, go for it! But of course, be safe and cautious about how much personal info you post on it.

Re: MySpace for stripping personas?
And expect it to be deleted if the administrator's come across it.

Even if I don't do any nude photos? Just... provocative. }:D

Yeah I was thinking about asking my computer savvy friends to help me so they can't trace my IP or anything. Plus I'd have a special e-mail address set up for that account only.

Whattt? If Jenna Jameson and Tera Patrick can have myspaces... why not dancers?
If you keep things PG-13 you should be fine... maybe even PG-19

This is where backing it up comes in handy. I'm lucky in that mine has never been deleted out right... just the coding has been deleted... the profile stayed the same.. plus various pictures disappearing out of nowhere...
so yes be careful what you do and do not post.
if you keep it basic. put up a permanent away message. only allow access to friends only and those over the age of 18. you should be okay. it can be as much or as little work as you want your page to be.

Re: MySpace for stripping personas?
You can check my page out if you want, it's in my siggy. I keep mine private and over 18 so I haven't run into any problems with weirdos. Send me a friend request and I'll add you and help you with your page if you want :)

Re: MySpace for stripping personas?
MySpace can be good for networking, but they are cracking down hard on adult entertainers.

Re: MySpace for stripping personas?
There was that myspace type site out there, Stripwatch? Stripperwatch? something like that. Same thing as myspace, but adult...and there were some creepy guys that posted pics on there of their little buddies....
Just a thought though.

Re: MySpace for stripping personas?
I've had a myspace for my stripper persona for almost 2 years now. It's brought me a lot of business when I was in Baltimore. When someone would ask for my phone number or how to contact me, I would always give out that site. People would check it out to see my schedule and come in those days to see me. A lot of people would come in and be like "I saw you on myspace!" My stripping though isn't really a secret and a lot of people that I knew outside of the club (like friends of friends of friends) have found my site fyi. I also get a lot of emails like "I need you to send naked pictures of yourself before I come to visit you and tip you lots and lots of money" and a lot of people trying to hook up with me and not understanding that I will not meet them outside the club. You can check out mine at myspace.com/kaoskylie

not if you're careful to keep your pictures tame.
i've had my work myspace for ages now. i have two myspaces, a private, personal one for my real life, close friends only, and my work one which only contains my stage name and the limited information that i'm comfortable with the general public knowing.

Re: MySpace for stripping personas?
My MySpace account is both my regular account and stripper persona account. I've had it for a while now. I just put it on private due to all the random asshats wanting to be my friends and chat. ::) I keep all of my pictures tasteful. Since I've had it set to private, I have dealt with WAY less more BS. I would've set it on private in the beginning, but was trying to attract business. It certainly helped me get started with the modeling, though, which is good... but as far as attracting clients for the club, it didn't work for me, and wasn't worth the constant hassle of fighting off all the MySpace PLs. I guess it has worked for others, though.

What I'm putting up is really the information I give to customers... so it's not 100% true. :)

Thanks a bunch! I have set mine to private for the over 18 too, but I might change that to get some friends. I haven't got any pictures up yet and I am debating putting pictures of my face on there. My family knows that I dance, but I'm not sure that I'm completely comfortable with the idea yet.
Everyone who said they have stripper MySpaces, I've friend requested you! I'm Kitty. ;D
