never mind
I have a bunch of them in a box somewhere but I's gots to find them. But I wanted to let you know that I read your thread and am planning on adding to it!
Not my fave I guess but since I memorized it cuz it rhymes...it's from when I was 14.
Light a match and watch it pour
Flunk life with the highest score
Wander about lonely downtown
With all those people who hang around
Go back home and watch TV
*bzzzzz*
*bzzzzzzz*
Grab the antenna and sting that bee
God damn that was an annoying sound
Now what was the weatherman saying about rain?
Before I stung the bee that made the TV go plain?
Well it's not raining now and the TV is broke
I can't seem to open this can of coke
Probably for the same reason I couldn't light the match--
I just couldn't figure out how!
Aha! The water pouring from my brain is visible now!
Same stuff that charred out the match and diluted the coke
They're not kidding when they say that life is a joke
*yawn* I'm tired I think enough's said
But I seem to be melting on my way to bed
Down the ground--the dust really chokes
But of course I can't cough, now that I'm dead!
Geez. I have a book full.
The two I've written most recently are my favorite. Here's one.
"Dance with Me"
At some point, death comes courting.
He is a gentle lover
of unimaginable cruelty.
Before that demon dance,
there is time.
We spend it frivolously.
We spend it wisely.
We spend it.
This intangible currency
flows like a river, unseen
until it wanders to destroy.
freedom to the gecko
is cagelessness
but he didn't know we had a cat
^awwwwwww!!! :-\
^^^and sadly inspired by true events...:(
Good god. I had an albino frog once named Maxine that mysteriously went missing one day. A full year later, as I was reading on the floor in the space between the bed and the wall, I noticed a dustball and picked it up. It was squishy and it was horrifyingly my precious Maxine!! (Along with about 10 other similar events involving cats and lil critters. We should have a thread. Awwww.)
I'm sorry and that poem was beautiful!
Sorry for the threadjack!
This what my ex-boyfriend sent me years ago.
I don't think he wrote all of it himself but I really like it :
Have you ever been fascinated
by someone whose words just seemed to
penetrate you?
You find yourself looking
and you can't look away
and the more that you try
the more that gaze stays
riveted here
where you want it to be
cause you know that there's something
you just have to see
as you listen so close
and you start to wonder
what would it feel like
to be falling under
A spell, mm...so magic
being spun by the sound
of a voice whose rich warmth
was spreading on down.
Have you ever experienced
instantaneous connection
To the point where your thoughts moved in
mmm....
Just one direction?
People sometimes ask,
"Please...just a kiss!"
Funny how you find yourself
WISHING THE SAME WISH
Your mine is amazing
when you really
Let it go
As you find yourself picturing
mmm...you know?
As the warmth of that voice
takes on a glow
spreading and pulsating
where you want it to go
I will tell you all you desire...
ME...I know.
You step out of what was
Invited, slipped inside
Feels like warm rain
Between your sighs
And it's not important
that you find
every inhibition
is left far behind.
As you recall how it feels
To be SO IN LOVE
And you SEE THAT IMAGE of us
(point to it) Up above
You see at last
who you've finally found
what you've looked for
and longed for
has finally COME round.
Journey
We are only here for a little while and at times it seems as if we live for an eternity.
Blinded by brightness we enter this enormous small world, knowing nothing, able to do almost nothing, depending on others to guide us, care for us and love us.
We speak no words yet we are understood.
We barely move but can cause a commotion.
What will we be? who knows?
What will we see? who knows?
What will we like? who knows?
What will we hate? who knows?
Answers to these questions are given to those who ponder, but certainty can never be expected, for our journey can change in an instant.
We are only here for a little while and at times it seems as if we live for an eternity.
We grow.
We smile.
We laugh.
We cry.
We get frustrated.
We get upset.
We feel pain.
We feel joy.
We live! and at times we barely hang on.
We are only here for a little while and at times it seems as if we live for an eternity.
Things change. What we like changes. What we used to like no longer entertains us or perhaps it does but do not want to admit it. Interesting things may occur, amazing things can happen around us but we may not see them as such.
Out side of this box it does not really matter,
Deeper and deeper we dwell on what we want and make a fuss when we don't get it and sometimes if we do get what we want we dwell on how we wished we never got it.
We are only here for a little while and at times it seems as if we live for an eternity.
The choices, the amount of choices, the lack of choices, the obstacles, placed in front of us can become the only things we place our focus on because we no longer have that which we had before, the depending on others to guide us, care for us and love us. We must move on.
We must move on merely to do it again and again.
We smile.
We laugh.
We cry.
We get frustrated.
We get upset.
We feel pain.
We feel joy.
We feel alone.
We feel surrounded by many things and nothing at the same time. Looking for the answers to the questions others before us have asked themselves at some point with out ever getting the response that is wanted.
We are only here for a little while and at times it seems as if we live for an eternity.
-Sigh-
What happened?
Where did it all go?
How?
-Sigh-
So soon? Memories come back. Old choices seem obvious. Regrets can taunt. Validation can be given.
New ones who need guidance in this enormous small world arrive to depend on us.
What will they be? who knows?
What will they see? who knows?
What will they like? who knows?
What will they hate? who knows?
But the new journey is sure worth watching. As long as we always remember,
We are only here for a little while and at times it seems as if we live for an eternity.
