It is very sad. But all things must end. Overall it had been going downhill since season 4.
i dunno, i loved season 5 and 6. season 7 sucked ass mostly, except for a few episodes that i actually rank in my favourite episodes of all time (eg selfless, conversations with dead people)
Yeah, I think Dawn killed Buffy. Her character was just never a "fit".
The final few episodes of season 5 were so amazing - Joyce's death and then Buffy's death. But I didn't love the Dawn line. Season 6 - well, the musical episode and that one where Buffy was in the alternate universe. Amazing. But overall - I think they pretty effectively killed Willow's character. Although I thought it was Tara's best season. It took me until they killed her to get over Oz. Season 7... the only thing I liked about it was that they didn't end it with Buffy's death. They found something new. The final episode was good. I was so moved by the scene where Buffy, Willow and Xander walked down the hallway.
I used to watch Buffy every weekday because the WB would play 2 hours of it a day and go through all 7 season, then start back at the beginning and play it all over again! I love Buffy!
I still love the last Buffy and Spike scene where Spike is about to die where Buffy says "I love you..." and Spike says "No you don't, but thanks for saying it."
Gah. Heartbreaking.
i loved that scene too, i love how they brought it back to the absolute core characters just for that moment.
i really liked season 5, because i thought glory was an amazing villain and buffys death was carried out so perfectly, but yeah i agree that dawn was a crappy character. i never liked her at all.
i enjoyed season 6, but i think that's cos i'm a mopey miserable little thing and i enjoy watching the really dark depressing stuff. i loved hells bells, entropy, normal again, once more with feeling... i didn't like the whole willow using magic as a metaphor for drug addiction story arc though.
I only miss the movie. I should dig it out tonight :D
I miss Buffy! I don't know if I liked it because I thought SMG was hot, or because I liked the show in general, but I miss it regardless.
Never watched the show, but David Boreanaz and his hot "fivehead" (LOL) makes me want to mash my vagina all over him. "Like the mish of an angry Goddess!"
fivehead, hahahha.
Loved Buffy. Bu liked Spike MUCH better when he was a bad boy. When he fell in love and joined the good guys he became soft and not as hot.
I liked Angel too...crap series, but David Boreanez....hot. His dad was the weatherman in my area when I was growing up(maybe still is I dont know) Still hotter as Angelus
i agree cam. i liked badass spike better than lovey-dovey spike. i liked him when he was in love with buffy and still trying to act bad, that was funny. but i didn't like crazy season 7 spike at all.
and oh man, angelus was so fucking hot.
Yay for Buffy appreciation! Best show evar.
Though as far as the Men of the Buffyverse go, I'll take Spike, Giles, or Oz over Angel any day of the week. Just my personal taste. I pretty much feel the way Spike puts it in this little monologue, even if it is from the Angel series:
SPIKE: [as Rachel] How can I thank you, you mysterious, black-clad hunk of a night thing?
SPIKE: [as Angel] No need, little lady, your tears of gratitude are enough for me. You see, I was once a badass vampire, but love and a pesky curse defanged me. Now I'm just a biiiiiiig, fluffy puppy with bad teeth. No, not the hair! Never the hair!
SPIKE: [as Rachel] But there must be some way I can show my appreciation.
SPIKE: [as Angel] No, helping those in need is my job, and working up a load of sexual tension, and prancing away like a magnificent poof is truly thanks enough!
SPIKE: [as Rachel] I understand, I have a nephew who's gay.
SPIKE: [as Angel] Say no more. Evil's still afoot and I'm almost out of that Nancy boy hair-gel that I like so much. Quickly to the Angelmobile, away!
My favorite season is the 3rd, due heavily to the awesomeness of rogue Slayer Faith and the badass/goodytwoshoes Mayor. I agree that things went a tad downhill after season 5 (I had issues with Glory, though the season as a whole still worked for me), but season 6 still had plenty of gems in it. Once More With Feeling, of course, but also Tabula Rasa (just TRY to watch it without bawling at the end! I dare you!), Normal Again, and so many others.
It's season 7 that still chaps my hide. But I LOVED the finale - and it made it all worth it. Jenny, I totally agree on the moment where the original Scoobies walk down the hall together. Giles (quoting himself in S1): The world is definitely doomed. :)
I am a huge geek. I could go on about this for hours. And have (ask Mast).
tabula rasa is heartbreaking. it's that michelle branch song that does it. i can't watch half the episodes in season 6 without having a cry.
hahaha @ that spike monologue
i HATED the 'potentials' arc of season 7. really, really hated it. most of them were really annoying characters. i did not like willow/kennedy... give her some time to get over tara!!! most of season 7 irked me. 'selfless' is one of my favourite episodes ever, but i just love anya. 'him' was another good s7 ep.
Oh, Faith was my favourite Buffy nemesis ever. I thought the schmoopy Spike was interesting - I think in part because you see Angel in his post-redemption phase. You don't see him in the beginning of that journey. With Spike you get a better idea that... it's not easy.
I can't really think of Angelus and Spike as "bad boys" - I mean, they are really more psychotic killers and serial rapists who sublimate sex into violence, right? Or did I watch it wrong?
I spent the a month in the summer watching every single buffy episode. Well, I finished almost all of them...I only watched half of "Jonanathan" (4th season) because the file was wonky. But other than that, I've seen every second of the series. And it's really amazing. The show's so strong that even when they have a massively annoying character such as Riley, it's still watchable.
I miss Buffy. I really need to go buy the DVDs or something because it's been so long. Then I could have a Buffy marathon with my mom and some wine and maybe some cheese too.
My moms the biggest Buffy freak, all thanks to me.
I have a confession. I think i have watched every single Episode of Buffy possible.
But i don't read the comics. They are different?
Well, you MIGHT be semi-interested in the comic series that just came out. Instead of being sort of obliquely related to the actual show, this one WAS written in its entirety by Joss himself, and plotwise IS an extension of the series. He refers to it literally as Season 8. It's much better than the others, I think (though some of the individual "Tales of the Slayers" were pretty fun).
But it's true, like Darcy said, that it's still just not the same.
Although still quite enjoyable! I think the dialogue is spot-on and the art is fantastic. We eagerly await every new edition.
I'm with you, Rose--I could chat Buffy all. day. long. We just finished the marathon through the end of the show and are redoing Angel right now, but it's totally not the same. I'm actually just waiting to get to Wesley, especially when he gets dark.
WESLEY: (to phone) Sorry, Lilah, midnight might not be— Uh-huh. Oh, you did? That is my favorite pair. Are you sitting at your desk? Take them off. (to guest) Why are you still here? (guest leaves, then to phone) No, not after your meeting. Now. Pretend you dropped your pencil. (sits down) Very good. Now...
Yes, the sex/violence/sex/violence thing is always good for me.
Fave villain: Angelus, though Mayor/Faith is close behind
Fave episodes: Already mentioned above. Season 7 has a lot of them for being such a disjointed season, as well as my...
Fave scene: Andrew, Giles, Xander and Amanda playing AD&D and coming up against Trogdor the Burninator. Okay there are a ton of others (Andrew in a surprisingly large number of them..."We are GOOOOOOODS!" anyone?) but that one just makes me :rotfl:
I'll pause for now.
Confession: I still haven't made it all the way through Angel. Seen a good chunk but not the whole thing. I'm sure I'll watch it eventually, and it might be a good choice for when I'm housebound with the wee bairn, but . . . yeah. Not the same thing. Connor just gives me a migraine, for one thing.
Still, allow me to share the funniest 42 seconds of Angel ever.
:O
:eye-poppi
:rotfl:
^^ I remember that,awesome!
You all know Wesley and Willow got married in real life right?
I know....I don't know who to envy more! I keep popping on Craigslist hoping to find an ad from "a witch and a Watcher looking for a third to keep locked in our closet," but alas, no such luck thus far.
