Still, allow me to share
the funniest 42 seconds of Angel ever.
You only think that is the funniest 42 seconds because you haven't seen Smile Time yet. I was not particularly enamoured of the line that apparently launched a thousand ships ("I'm going to rip you a new puppet hole, bitch!") but the fight scene between puppet Angel and Spike was the funniest ever. And it made for an awesome strut scene.
The last season of Angel was everything the last season of Buffy wasn't. I think I recommend above all other seasons.

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
I loved Angel, too and am in agreement about that last season (though anything that gets Nathan Fillion on TV is all right by me). Total bummer that they were on different networks at the end.
I'm enjoying the comic books, but yes, not really a substitute for the show. And I would like to apologize for ignoring Buffy until the summer before season 7 when a friend with impeccable taste finally recommended it and I spent, like, four weeks watching tapes and DVDs of all 6 seasons bought off eBay. I could have had years of enjoyment!

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
I liked Buffy, but I felt like it was getting bad toward the end. I felt that the show eventually focused too much on Spike and was becoming too Cartoonish.
Now Firefly on the other hand... THAT is my favorite Joss Whedon show off all time.

hahaha. andrew had some classic lines. "scully wants me so bad"

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
Ummm...this has to be the best thread ever.
I'm actually one of the few who got more into Buffy as the seasons progressed, I think. Season six affected me deeply--probably because of the witchcraft/drug abuse parallel which occurred as I was watching several loved ones throw their lives away doing/selling hard drugs.
I could never come up with a favorite character though Andrew and Oz are easily the two who made me laugh the most. I could spend all day listing favorite episodes, all for very different reasons. Season 4 was probably my least favorite--I know Adam was absolutely my least favorite villain.
I love Angel as well--though I never thought the show was the same after Doyle was gone. I actually liked the 5th season though--even more surprisingly because I didn't think I could go on after Charisma Carpenter left the show. The Fred-Aleria transformation was pretty incredible. And my favorite characters were easily Lorne and Wesley-especially dark Wesley. So god damned hot. Angel himself is a tad annoying and whiney though--I have no problem agreeing with that.
I have to stop myself now or I'll go on for hours and hours and hours.

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
Joss needs to stop messing around and write more TV shows. As much as I like the movie Serenity, Whedon's always did his best work while writing for TV shows. What I loved about both Angel and Buffy were the complicated story arcs and the evolving character development. You can't really get into the subtleties and nuances of plot or character in a two hour movie.
And Firefly ended for too soon. Damn you Fox network!!

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
I could not get on board with the Angel/Cordelia ship. I just couldn't deal. And while Charisma Carpenter sold the hell out of her character transformation, I really didn't think there was much left of Cordelia by the end.
I also liked Fred/Gunn way better than Fred/Wesley.

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
I always though the best was Spike/ Drusilla anyways. The couple that should have been, but never happened was Buffy/Faith. Or maybe I''ve been reading to much fan slash. Have I just outed myself as an uncool fanboy? ::)
-
Re: the buffy appreciation thread
Fred/Gunn was definitely adorable, but it the relationship between Wesley and Aleria (I'm so not spelling that right) made the relationship between Wesley and Fred okay, if you ask me. Denisof's acting completely haunted me towards the end of Season 5.
And Jenny, I couldn't agree with you more about the Angel-Cordelia-ship. And Cordelia/Connor was just plain creepy. I wish he'd never taken the story line in that direction. But I suppose, if he hadn't, Season Five wouldn't have been what it was.

I also believe that Souls are fattening.

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
I hated "Angel," but G-d do I love "Buffy." Season 6 was my favorite - OMG, so much depth in that.
LMAO at "We are as gods, we are as gooooods..." :rotfl:
Although I have to admit, when I saw this thread title I didn't know if it was in reference to the TV show or the super-duper-excellent-awesome Lush product!

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
LOL! True, although it would have more likely been in BB then.
I haven't heard anything new about Dollhouse, so I guess it's still on for 2008? Hopefully? And hopefully won't be cancelled after 1 season?

The picture is from some bizzarro Russian site. Apparently a Russian couple had a Fishing Cat living in their Moscow apartment. I guess in Russia there are no zoning laws. Here's a link:

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
Oh my god, I saw the fishing cats at the Memphis Zoo years ago and it was hands down the COOLEST ANIMAL EVER because it was a CAT that DOVE INTO WATER. I watched them for an hour.
-
Re: the buffy appreciation thread
^^^ I once spent three hours just watching those same cats!

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
Also, I loved when Giles hotwires his own car during the zombie attack.
-
Re: the buffy appreciation thread
I love when Giles does just about anything. He can hot-wire me any day. Mmm, Giles.

Re: the buffy appreciation thread
Thought it was a nice little throwback to his badass Ripper days. And yes, he is pretty sexy.
Buffy: But when I kissed you, you know I was thinking about Giles, right?
Spike: You know, I always wondered about you two.
Buffy: What? Oh, gross, Spike! He left, I was depressed, ergo vulnerability and bad kissing decisions.
Spike: (referring to Giles) Did your life flash before your eyes? Cuppa tea, cuppa tea, almost got shagged, cuppa tea?
-
Re: the buffy appreciation thread
Psychic!Buffy: (Reads Joyce's mind.) You had sex with Giles. You had SEX. With GILES? . . . On top of a police car? . . . TWICE?!?
Later that day . . .
Giles: "Feel up to some training?"
Backtonormal!Buffy: "Sure. We can work out after school. You know, if you're not too busy having sex with my MOTHER."
Giles: (Walks into tree.)
