WTF? I want to push my car off a cliff.
I just paid over $700 to have my car fixed. I know it needs more, but nothing I could do at the time or that was urgent. I got the major probs fixed. And now, a week and a half later, it is doing the SAME THING. It is pretty much almost undriveable-clutch probs. This would not be so bad if I were making the stripperbucks, but I am not. The club is dead-I've basically been breaking even the past few nights. I could scream. I have no money and I need a new car and I can't even GET to work. Tomorrow I get to take my barely driveable car to some evil car dealership and attempt to buy a new car with somewhat improved, but not good credit, a crap trade in and about $500.
Please send good thoughts my way. And if they won't take a trade-in, any suggestions for a cliff to push this thing over?
Re: WTF? I want to push my car off a cliff.
I'm sorry. Positive prayers for you...
Re: WTF? I want to push my car off a cliff.
I had a mechanic that was so shit he once tried to fix my car with tinfoil and said it was working (hell I have uploaded a youtube video about this issue because it was so bad. My car was RATTLING AND STALLING). Seriously, I blame your mechanic. Some mechanics are terrible, just awful.
Now I'm having the opposite problem though, because apparently my 'UV filter' on my car is cracked. Yup. (why on earth he thought I'd believe that was a legit repair for $300 I have NO idea).
Time to go back to that one mechanic I DO trust. Maybe you should try the same?
OOOORRRR... buy a GPS... within a week that damn innacurate thing should take you to a cliff or a bridge and tell you to jump your car off it. Then, blame the GPS and sue the company for monies.

Oy. UV filter? Tin foil is awesome. I had a car fixed with electrical tape once!
I had my one reliable mechanic tell me nothing was wrong despite the engine racing even though I was slowing down and the one side (well, not it's the other side too) getting all wobbly over 40 mph. This new one 'fixed' the clutch cylinder, the throttle...um thingy and the bearing in the right side wheel. And now it's still racing. And wobbling.
Re: WTF? I want to push my car off a cliff.
Throttle Position Sensor?
My car is 'racing' too. I think its slipping out of gear :-/ But mines automatic, so I dunno why your manual would do that.
Maybe your wheels need to be balanced if the car is wobbling? Or maybe you have a bad tire.
Good luck tomorrow!

YES! That's the throttle thing. Somehow that and the cylinder were making my engine race. And are again. :( It would be nice if it were just a balance, but there's so much more to be fixed on the car that I think it needs a good push at this point.

LOL> I had a garage tell me once that they could replace the TPS because they thought it was the problem, for $800. But that they weren't SURE ,so I could spend the $800 and then go from there....
LOL, no.
I just live with the 'racing'. I've let it warm up before I drive it, and it seems to lessen when the car warms up.

Oh noes! They told me it WAS the problem. Damn damn damn! Oh well, wish me luck using jedi mind tricks and stripper mojo on the car people. God, I hope my credit looks better.

Yup. And looking hot doesn't help either ;)

Argh, mine worsens after it warms up. Can I just get a horse and buggy or something? Stupid cars.
Re: WTF? I want to push my car off a cliff.
You live in Jersey, and from the sound of it, your car has a manual transmission. You don't know any mechanics?
I have people who know what they're doing lined up to work on my van, after I mentioned on LiveJournal that I got a $700 estimate for a tune-up.
Re: WTF? I want to push my car off a cliff.
I've had a lot of car trouble before, it sucks going through all that uneccesary shit.
Re: WTF? I want to push my car off a cliff.
I wasn't suggesting you didn't know you have a manual. I was making sure I was reading the thread right.
So wait, a friend was who messed it up in the first place? That sucks.
Re: WTF? I want to push my car off a cliff.
My fave mechanics in that part of the state are at All Tune and Lube nearby Kinko's in South Plainfield. They fixed my car so good I sent them a pic that said "THIS car made it all the way to Albuquerque, NM...thanks, All Tune & Lube!"
as far as cliff recommendations.....the falls at Paterson should be nice and iced up right about now!
sorry to hear about garbage ass bullshit car troubles and make sure yr smarter than me and don't leave yr CD's in there!

Good to know! My life long mechanic has really screwed up, as has the guy who picked up the slack. It's pretty much not worth repairing at this point-anything done may break something else. But it's good to know where to take the new car.
Re: WTF? I want to push my car off a cliff.
lol.....they were so cool that i took my car there even when i moved back to north jersey! at first there was a georgia guy who i guess went back to georgia, and now it's indians, who were still always up front and honest with me
