Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
Not a pleasant subject.
The dancer has been in jail for 10 days and the arraignment is on the 22nd. There is a chance, maybe a good chance, that the charges will be dropped at that time. However, if the charges aren't dropped then I'd like to be prepared. Bond is currently set at $10,000 and my experience with bail bonds fortunately is zilch. I spoke with friends and those with experience were like be CAREFUL.
An positive experience dealing with bail bond companies especially in the Miami area? I'm not even sure the type of bond that I'm looking for exists i.e. no collateral or guarantee required just pay the non-refundable 10%.

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
^^ This comment has none of the relevant info at all. Arrested for what?
If you are supposed to help this girl, you need to talk to a lawyer, not a stripper forum.
PS: you let her sit in jail for 10 days? what kind of friend are you?
PPS: Just looked at your posting history. I won't waste my time replying to this thread anymore...

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
No. I don't need to talk with a lawyer. I *may* need a bondsman and I won't even do that if can't be done with my losses to not exceed $1,000 i.e. the 10% fee.
I actually put my money where my mouth is unlike her "real" friends. Also, I think there is some rule that a customer is not allowed to be a dancer's friend. The sad thing is this dancer is too nice and she expects her "real" friends and other people to also be nice people. I hope someday she finds those nice people.

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
Well do you know how to use a phone book and telephone?
Call a bondsman and get her out of jail.
Whats the matter with you?
-
Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
Well, I do have friends with experience with bondsmen. Their opinion is to let her rot. And, if I was in jail they would let me rot.
Also, I have spoken with bondsmen. One was engaged in false advertising. The other seemed like a nice lady, but she wanted to deal with the dancer's family and worse than that she wanted collateral. Her brother seems like a nice guy, but I don't know him at all. Her mom and dad don't approve of her dancing and want to take her child (according to her).
All of this doesn't do anything positive. Positive is a dancer says YES there is a bondsman and he is fair and doesn't require collateral or guarantees or other bs. I think the charges will be dropped, but I'd like to be prepared to help if it is within my budget. I've already spent almost $200 trying to help her. Yes, I know it's pocket change to wealthy dancers. Hey, at least I do try.
If I didn't think she was innocent, then I wouldn't waste a $1 on her----AND, if I didn't know that she was first in line to help other people, then again I wouldn't waste any of my time or money. It is cruel world, but if you know of a different world then wonderful for YOU.

Random interjection: I'm highly amused by the fact the two people currently arguing in this thread are both people who asked to have their accounts deleted in this thread two years ago, but neither were deleted due to oversight.
That is all.

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
I thought my request was DENIED.
And, yes it is amusing.
But, hey maybe there is a 1% chance that some dancer here has positive experience to share. Actually, I think it is less than a 1% chance . . . however, if you don't knock on the door you don't even have a chance.

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
FWIW: The reason that the bail bondsman (bondsperson?) needed to contact the person's family is to have contacts so that they can find the person if they skip bail. Perfectly normal.
-
Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
Doesn't the Jail have some info you can use, or perhaps the jail ministry people? I'm not from FL, but maybe it's a lead.

That wasn't a problem as far as contacting the family. The problem was that that particular bondsperson seemed to only want to do business with her family. And, that shouldn't be a huge obstacle in that her brother *seems* willing to help. When I say *seems* it means that he is definitely interested in his sister's well being, but he has his own problems. So, if I could raise the money the brother should be willing to at least show up and sign papers.
Her brother says he has raised $200 so far, but I will believe that when I see the money in his hand. Also, his is of the opinion that maybe this lesson will teach her not to be so nice in the future. I hate to say it, but I hope that in the future she isn't so willing to help people.

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
OMFG....
Not all dancers are wealthy. Not all customers experiences are terrible.
If you were a true friend, you would help this girl out, especially know if she was innocent. I can round up $1,000 to help a real friend out, especially if you've had almost 2 weeks to do it.
Its one thing if my friend was thrown in the drunktank for a night or two for DUI. But this girl is going to be sitting in jail for a month because no one can scrape together a grand?
Can't you put it on a credit card? Either this girl is really an asshole, or all of her friends are.

Thank you, for the suggestion. This whole thing has just made me sick. I mean really sick. I had a nightmare last night, which I haven't had in decades.
The jail here in Miami does everything in its power to keep you from visiting or contacting inmates and vice versa. Everything from rip off phone charges and needing credit to limiting visitor passes. I waited in line about 40 minutes during visiting hours with a letter in my hand to her. As I approached the window I was met with NO MORE PASSES. I didn't even know what that meant exactly. It meant that me and all the people in line behind me were basically screwed and weren't going to be allowed to visit because the jail has only a limited number of passes. I asked if I could at least drop off the letter (so she would know there was money in her account and she could call me) and the answer was a firm NO. It has to go thru the U.S. postal service. Another problem is the inmate has to know enough to place you on her visitor's list or you again will get the big NO! Then there is the moving the inmate around willy nilly. So, I go to Women's Detention and it is like oh, she was transfer to TGK. Now, I need to learn TGKs rules, and then they will move her again. TGK, just lets their phone ring and ring.
Trying to get in contact with her government attorney? Another mess whether you are family or not. I was promised a call this morning and of course there wasn't a call.
I just talked with her a half-hour ago and she is very upbeat saying that she knows as soon as the judge knows the truth at the 22nd she will be free. Anyway, she is going to write a letter to the judge---it probably won't make a difference one way or the other. I saw the judge briefly. She was concerned about people she didn't recognize being in her court. It created a buzz when I said that I just wanted to drop off a letter. From what little I could tell the judge seemed pleasant enough. I'm just praying that this judge is one of the good judges.

I already have a $1,000 to help her out and have already spent $200 that I will never see again. However, I'm not 1) going to risk more than $1,000 and 2) that will only be after the government decides if it will proceed with its case. So, if the government is going to hold her in jail for six months or more so she can wait for her "speedy" trial, then I will lose $1,000 to a bail bondsperson. I doubt it works like that based on what my friends with experience say. And, I don't trust the court system or I would go further out on the limb financially. Thus, if the government decides to proceed she may be stuck in jail god knows how long until she gets her "speedy" trial.
The only positive is that hopefully taxpayers will get reamed NO END. Yes, I'm a taxpayer.

Did we ever find out what she was arrested for?

Will that help find a dancer who has positive experience with bail bondspersons here in South Florida? That is what I'm looking for right now and I don't even think it will be needed because on the 22nd with any luck the charges will be dropped.
It wasn't for drugs or prostitution if that helps any.

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
You seem really interested in your dancer friend's sticky situation, you sound like a pimp to me. But um... hey good luck with everything.

A pimp would already have her out and working the streets. Hell, if she was a prostitute I could get her out. Given her dire situation she might very reluctantly agree to submit to that if she has to sit in jail waiting for her "speedy" trial, but it isn't anything I would want any part of.
I'm a dummy who actually cares and tries to help. I just hope that she learns from this experience NOT to care or help people in the future. And, yes that would include me or anyone who has tried to help her. She needs to look after just herself and her child. Everyone else can go to hell.
A buddy who is Mr. Postive and who believes in rushing to the rescue of those in need even told me to forget about her and let the system run its course. It might be positive i.e. she is released on the 22nd or she may do real hard time and lose her child. To think I can do much of anything is absurd, but heck there is always a very slim chance. Her "real" friends are smart to run like rats and roaches---that is just part of the game. And, really I don't judge them that harshly even though it sounds like it. If I was in their shoes, then I probably do the same thing.

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
I'm going to try yet again to visit her tonight. I don't know anything about how it works other than do whatever you are told and do it quickly.
At least she is being strong which is a huge surprise and I'm grateful for that.

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
Arrested in a club here and held on $10K bond?? Must be a really serious charge.
I've nevber been arrested, but know several girls, and several of their loser bf's here who have and they were always bailed out by friends within hours.
If she's still there 2 weeks later...either nobody will ante up bail for her or the charge is so serious they are determined to keep her.
Good luck..Miami courts are nothing to fool around with

It ain't a hotel and the people hired there are not for the service industry.
You are way out of your league in trying to help this person. Either you don't have the money or you don't have the guts. Just fess up to yourself what the problem is and move on.
(And just to be wicked, I think you kinda like a girl in a cage or else you would have gotten her bail by now. It ain't hard.)
$10,000 bucks sounds like a drug charge and my radar is ringing "dealer." No wonder no one wants to get her ass out (or has the money to do so - they need that dime bag more than they need her.)

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
From my experience from bailing someone out. I went to bonds place. I gave them money. I signed a couple of papers. They went to the jail and got them out. I picked him up. The end.
There must be a missing piece from this puzzle because its not that difficult to bail someone out....

What the FUCK? I wasn't being rude, I just found it slightly amusing when I read back on old posts. No need to get all bitchy at me.
It's not like I was saying 'oh my god these two people should've been deleted'. I meant it more as, 'huh, that's funny.'

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
Doesn't look like I'm going to need any advice. She was very upbeat telling me all her big plans. (She thinks really big and I think really small.) She is going to make this money and that money and she sure as hell had me believing her. I kept being negative. I told her horrible stories. I asked if there is all this money that she can earn then why in the hell is she paying 20% a month at a pawn shop. She had all the answers and some I actually knew to be true.
She was so cute telling that she is tougher than me, which in many ways is true. But, having said that she is very scared of being physically abused due to her small size and lack of strength.
She still hasn't learned her lesson about helping people and if she ever gets out of this mess, then I'm going to be yelling my fool head off that her money is for her and her child ONLY. I don't want to hear any shit about how if people need help she doesn't have a choice. Will she listen to me? Nope and that is fine, but I'm going to make it very clear that next time I ain't doing jack if she continues to help people who completely turn their backs when she needs help. She was telling me how easy it was to get a bail bond. OK, fine that isn't what I've been hearing and yes I believe when her friends or family needed bond it got done, but she is willing to sign her life away and do whatever it takes to get the job done. Like borrowing money at 20% interest a month??? That is insanity. She says that is because I can't earn the money like she can. I say fine, but you need to be saving this money for when you are in trouble. She says she thought her friends and family would come to the rescue like she does for them.
I am just shaking my head. She says you don't know everything and besides I can make a lot more money than you. I may not know everything, but I know she needs to think more of herself and her child. Yes, she does take good care of her child, imo, but there is nothing for a rainy day.
OK, rant off. But, if she isn't killed or severly injured prior to her arraignment in 11 days then even as bad as I believe the system is, I think she will walk.
Oh, she also was telling me how she another huge advantage over me. I'm all ears because truly she has these wild ideas. Her answer? The Bible. She knows that God isn't going to save her one way or another and she just has to endure the pain and he will provide. Yes, she is right. That is a hell of an advantage she has. I've seen a different reality. And, it scares the living daylights out of me.

Re: Arrested At Club--Experience with getting bond, etc.
Wow, this thread makes no sense.
I have no clue what is going on.
AND, I read the whole damn thing.
