can we have a positive money thread?
ok. maybe no one will like this thread but i need a positive money thread as opposed to all the negative ones out there. i know other girls feel the same as me, so i figured maybe our positive work vibes could rub off on some of the rest of you! :)
i'm frustrated about a lot of the "there's no money out there" threads because if you think negative, customers can read that. you're hurting your money by reading those threads. i feel like girls can build on each other's negativity or positive-ness. if you read a thread that girls arent doing well, its possible you'll freak out and think that you won't do well either. and then you don't, and that was a self-fulfilling prophecy.
so i'll go first. i'm not having the best month i've ever had, and the beginning of the month was rough. i had some shitty nights. but i'm also having some great nights, too. part of which i'm crediting to the fact that i won't listen to girls complaining about not making money, and bam! i end up one of the top girls. i'm focusing my energy at work on being positive, smiling, and making money instead of standing around and complaining. no, i'm not perfect. sometimes i complain. my manager and i have talked about it a ton of times - i complain because i have high standards, haha. a lot of girls would be happy with nights that i'm not thrilled with. so i'm trying to keep that in perspective, too.
if i get frustrated, i take a short break, and then i go back and talk. to. everyone. you can't get a yes OR a no if you don't ask. you can't make ANYTHING if you stay home because you're scared you won't. i always, always say that whatever i leave with, it's more than i came with, and that's what matters. i stay til the very last second, i dont leave early because it's not starting out great. i talk to people even if i've seen them turn down 5 girls before me.
anyway, i'm rambling now! :P i just wanted to start a happy thread so we can bounce some ideas off each other, share what works for us, and try and get a more positive vibe concerning money around here!
good luck to anyone that's working tonight! :)
(if nothing else, at least pop in and say hey, i'm doing great! or, i had a super night! even if its your first all month. it's not bragging, it's showing that it's possible. or even if you do a tiny bit better than you had been.. throw that out there. haha.. and dont talk numbers if you dont feel comfortable! i want this to stay a 100% positive thread, k?)

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
I have to be positive about money this year because I have so much to pay off...LOL!
I'm keeping positive by spreading out my options, keeping better track of my spending, and at work, I push my self much harder & it is paying off.
The doom and gloom I hate to dwell on...A pretty girl doesn't have to suffer through crummy economic times.

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
another way to think of it is to compare it to other things. for example..
if you're on a diet, or simply trying to revamp your eating habits even. say you have a shitty day and you pig out. that doesnt mean that youre never going to lose weight, or the whole month is shot. it means that day wasnt great, and you wake up tomorrow and you dont give up, you keep at it.
you know?

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
I had my best night of the month last night. I have been sick for the last 5 days or so and I didn't work. I still plan on making my goal, though!
Last night I think I did only 5 floor dances. I didn't go on stage because I was in the CR so much. So, today my toes don't even hurt. I am working tonight, too. And I am gonna kick sum ass!

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
I'm not ready to resign myself to recession just yet either. So far this month has been ok, but tonight I'm going to work my ass off and see if I can have my best night of the month yet.

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
I've really been feeling the negativity lately too, and admittedly contributing to it because I get discouraged so easily. But I'm going to try harder and attempt to hit every customer tonight. I wanna get back to what I was making when I started dancing and I'm going to do it tonight, dammit! Haha.

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
Despite the fact that I've just returned to work, I'm doing really well. I've had such an amazing week that Boyfriend is looking into getting his shift covered for his second job tonight so that I can work a 4th night and continue my streak. My confidence is at an all time high and I know it's showing. I approach people more than I did before. I have a great time at work. I'm always smiling. I follow the same routine when I start getting ready for work, listen to upbeat music (sirius sattelite 33 and 36) the whole 2 hours to work and greet everyone with a smile when I get to work. All of this helps me to get my mind ready for an amazing night at work!!
Wishing good money and positive vibes to everyone out there!!

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
I may not be making the best money right now-but hey, at the least I can GO to work! Now that I'm not pregnant and all chubby I have the chance to make some money so YAY for the oppurtunity! Hopefully the weather stays clear so I can go in to work.

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
Im not making the best money i've ever made but im having some kick ass nights.
Yesterday is the perfect example. My first two shows were brutal. I made a total of $5. Then BOOM I started pulling in the coin. My last two shows I made over $300 in tips 8)
It hasn't been regular money but its being consistent. Like say there are alot of crap nights but he good nights are super great so it evens out.

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
there's actually a very positive outlook for dancers working in the 'right kind' of clubs ... namely clubs that are frequented by FOREIGN customers. Keep in mind that from the point of view of a foreign businessman or tourist, the deteriorating US dollar makes all of his spending seem like a bargain in terms of his home currency (the Euro, the Yen, whatever)
For US clubs, I guess this would mean that the best opportunities will be found in big city clubs that are hubs for foreign businessmen (like New York), or are hubs for foreign tourists (like South Florida)

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
Melonie-Now that you mention it, the last few foreigners that I encountered (an Aussie on holiday, and an Eastern European gentleman to name a couple) actually spent more than I have had foreigners spend in the past. Thanks for the tip, I'm going to keep on a lookout for these types!

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
I have been working much more consistantly. I even worked the weekdays last week, something I never, ever do. Espicially Tues - Wed. I always refuse to work those days, saying there is no money, it's to slow. I made money every day I worked. Not a lot, between 200-500, but still, it's money. Now tonight is Sat. many more poeople and a great opportunity to catch up from the slower weekdays.
I'm confidant tonight will be a damn good night.

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
I did start one of the piss and moan threads myself a week or so ago - but I felt good doing it, and I mostly wanted reassurance from other girls in my area that I wasn't all alone in feeling like I was working in an empty club. So it helped and I'm glad I posted it, it didn't effect me negatively, it actually helped knowing that this town is just a little slow and it's not me personally.
This is a cute thread idea and I know when I read about girls making a lot it inspires me to get my butt to work! So to Portland girls: I made ridiculous money last night!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D True story.

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
I had a super night Thursday. I was top earner, and got 2 of the 3 VIPs sold all night. It was one of the best nights I've had in a while, and my best so far in 2008.
And last night, while not easy money by any means, was weirdly comforting when I found out that my total for the night was only $10 off from a friend's. She got 2 VIPs, I hustled myself sweaty and gross and gave one absolutely amazing stage set. It was a nice reminder that VIPs aren't the be-all and end-all of making money. (And I think I still made it into the top half of earners last night.)

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
Hrm, I've been dragging but last night I pulled myself out of it.
it wasn't luck either.
There is a club regular that comes in about every other month and he'll spend like an hour in the VIP.
Every time I talk to him he's so rude to me. He walks by like I'm invisible and tells me he's looking for someone else when I try to say hi. I didn't want to go through that again, but it was definitely going to be "one of those nights" if I didn't. Plus I knew his favorite girls weren't there (which was shocking because half of Philadelphia's strippers were.) It really required a lot of positive energy.
Well, I forced myself on him last night and did the whole "well, I want to get to know you and we can chat til she shows up" thing....and of course she didn't.
He caved out of guilt, but ended up liking me.... and I did a 2.5 hour VIP with him!
It would have definitely been a under $100 night without that. There were hardly any VIPs at all last night!

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
I am also glad you started this thread, some of the other ones are really depressing and we needed a balance. I did very well lastnight had a vip for 2 hours and was with a guy and his friend who had another dancer that I had never worked with and we had sooo much fun.

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
yay! see, i knew people were doing well! ;D i'm in a super happy mood for work tonight and i think it will be good!
-
Re: can we have a positive money thread?
and I think there's not very many positive threads because it's considered rude to talk about good nights and therapeutic to comisterate about bad nights.
-
Re: can we have a positive money thread?
^ thats why i said its not bragging, its just something i think we need right now! i mean, i'd rather click on a thread that says "yay! we're all going to do well! go us!" than one that says "grrrrrrrr just stay home there's no money to be made" you know? and then i have that positive outlook already in my head when i leave for work.
and also, as i said in my first post, you dont necessarily have to say you had a great night or whatever. you could post what motivates you when its slow, whatever :)
-
Re: can we have a positive money thread?
well, you might not consider it bragging, but I do. And I think it's rude, which is why I don't do it.
But I only wrote my story because I don't think it's bragging. It's about working hard, so I don't mind sharing.

Re: can we have a positive money thread?
^ ok ::) i work hard too.. i make bank by doing lap dances that i only get 15 or 20 off of. believe me, i work hard.
-
Re: can we have a positive money thread?
I never said you didn't. Calm down.
-
Re: can we have a positive money thread?
haha, im calm! i just know im not the only one who thinks a positive thread is helpful. if you dont, im sorry.
