Tattoo Help
Ok, so I'm planning on getting a back piece done soon, after I work my ass off for the next month. I have several already, so this isn't my first and I know what I'm getting into. I had been struggling for years on a unique version of the angel vs. demon theme that seems to be common on the shoulders. Well, this week, I had a moment of inspiration, and finally came up with the idea. Essentially, the tattoo will be a version of this picture:
Obviously, without the hole "11 x 14 Inces" thing. Although that would raise some interesting queries that I could easily attempt to entertain leading to minutes (or seconds) of disappointment, I'd have a hard time (pun intended) trying to figure out how to explain the "glossy" thing.
I digress.
That picture would be the center of the backpiece, with the sides of Two-Face's coin on each shoulder to represent the good vs. evil thing.
The trouble is, my tattoo artist is a huge Batman fan (I think he came when I told him about this idea), so he wants to do my entire back, meaning I have to fill out the imagery in that picture, or try to come up with some sort of background for it (he wouldn't charge me any extra for it, so it's worth doing).
My creativity is stretched to the max with all the writing and working I'm doing, so I can't think of anything no matter how hard I attempt to wrack my brain, and now I appeal to you folks. If you have any ideers, lemme know.

Re: Tattoo Help
Oh yeah. Forgot to add that you don't have to know a damn thing about Batman to help. I know there's artists in the crowd. Please, help a clown smile. :)

Re: Tattoo Help
So I asked the tattoo artist hubby and he says........
you could do shadowed city scape or skyline of Gotham City.
He says it's kinda hard to get really definate about what to do with out seeing the size and your back.

Re: Tattoo Help
That's a really cool picture, just had to say.
So what exactly are you asking, for ideas on a background? I like it as it is personally.

Re: Tattoo Help
Well, yeah, background ideas basically. Though I'm liking the shadowy Gotham-scape idea. I can add the Batsignal on the back of my neck, that would lead to the huge scene cleverly hidden beneath my shirt.

Re: Tattoo Help
I like the city idea. How about blood splatters? It would help me to know more about the meaning behind it, but it seems like a horror thing.
And how are you going to deal with the bottom of the dude? Is it just going to be abruptly cut off at the bottom with a big rectangle? I think that would look awkward with the shape of your own body. Maybe fade it out and have it going to sort of a point or slant, not a big black rectangle on your lower back.
Forgive my ignorance but is that the Joker? Doesn't he have purple and green colors in his imagery? That might be something to consider unless you are leaving it black and grey.

Re: Tattoo Help
Very cool idea & feedback here. I must say, the timing of that poster, given Ledger's death (I hadn't seen it before) makes me a bit sad. Not in a "wrong" way, just in an extra-poignant way.
Good luck with the piece! Tres ambitious.
