Schedules?
How many of you ladies are required to follow a work schedule? My manager keeps changing my work schedule, and it seems that whenever we work out something that suits both of us, she goes and changes it again. I've worked at this place for a month and a half, and not only has my sched. been changed 3 times, they also seem to have a hard time keeping track of what days I'm supposed to work. For example, I was working Monday, Tuesday, and Friday for about 2 weeks, which was perfect. Then the other day my boss tells me that I owe fines for not showing up to work on the past 2 Sundays. I was like, wtf?? "You told me to come in on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, and that's what I've been doing. I wasn't aware that I'm supposed to be in on Sundays." And she said, "Well, maybe that's what I said but according to the schedule you're supposed to be in on Sundays." (A schedule that she didn't write, and I've never seen!!) "But I won't fine you for those days since you didn't know, but you need to be in on Sundays from now on." Ok...I HATE working Sundays, and I really don't want to work 4 days a week. It's too hard on my knees and by the 4th day I usually call off or leave early anyway because I DON'T want to be there. I told her that, and she said that after business picks up/more girls are hired, I can go back down to 3. Riiight.
SO, I guess my point is, the main reason I started stripping was so that I could make my own schedule, and avoid this kind of dumb BS. Now it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Is this common? Do most of you have to follow a schedule set for you by management, or do you get to make your own hours?
Sorry it took me so long to get to the point, I had to vent a little.:)

Re: Schedules?
Nah man, that's some BS alright. At my club they just require girls to commit to one day shift a week, but if you miss it there aren't any fines, you just gotta work a day before you can work any more nights. I think that's kinda unusual though- the club I was at before, and most other ones around DFW it seems, have pre-set mandatory days, usually Sat-Mon- ya gotta work a shift on one of those days to work any other days. I've never encountered a club around here that fines girls for missing days.
Anyway, sorry they're givin you flack- can you maybe bluff em, like threaten to leave because club blah-blah down the street won't make you work Sundays?

Re: Schedules?
Our club fines girls for missing days but its usually only £20 and if you need to take the night off one of the other will usually cover you and they're fine with that. We make our own schedule tho, 1 month in advance. It can be a hassle deciding what your going to work in 1 months time but I'd rather that than work somewhere that determined my schedule for me. There's no way I could do that. Is there no other clubs in your area you could work at that aren't so strict?

Re: Schedules?
The club tells when to work? That's a bit effed up. We put in a schedule at my club and you can get fined for a no call/no show but you know what you're working because you requested it, there are no surprises.
If you started stripping to make your own schedule and it's not happening at this club find another one.

Re: Schedules?
I worked at a club for about 2 weeks with a schedual. 2 full 4-1 shifts a week, and you cannot pick them, and 1 sunday double (1 in the afternoon to 1 in the morning!) a month. I don't mind sticking to schedualed shifts, but one of my favorite things about stripping is being able to choose when I work, or take time off if I want to, and I live and snowy new england and was basically told if I called in because of the snow I'd get fired. eff that.

Re: Schedules?
The only "schedule" I've been given is that I can only work Sun/Mon nights and whatever day shifts I want. But I've taken off for over a month at a time and there's no penalty or anything. I don't know how I'd feel about a schedule--on one hand, I'd definitely be in more than I am with it left up to me, which means I'd be making much more money. But your situation sounds pretty unappealing. That's a big reason why I got out of "legitimate" jobs that set your hours for you!

Re: Schedules?
Not anymore. My old new club where I got fired required me to make a schedule for four days a week. And that's why I got fired, cuz I am really bad at sticking to a schedule.

Re: Schedules?
I've worked a cpl clubs that made you have a set schedule, butyou chose the days yourself. The only exception is one or two clubs that made you work at least one midweek day in order to work a weekend.
But I would never work anywhere that had a schedule now. I cant. Between webcam, shoots(that can come up or get cancelled at the last minute) and going out of town..I never know when I'm going to be there and when i'm not. So I can really only work at a club that lets me show up whenever I want.

Re: Schedules?
They get the right to hold you to a strict schedule when they pay you to be there. I get pretty irritated with managers who expect me to act like an employee but don't want to give me the paycheck or benefits that an employee would get. You don't get to have it both ways. Either I'm your employee, or I am self-employed, and as long as I'm self-employed I will show up when it suits me.
I understand ASKING us to make a schedule and stick to it, because it does make everyone's life easier. But I get to make my own damn schedule and if I just can't make it in on a particular day, that's my prerogative since I work for my own damn self.

Re: Schedules?
My old club was pretty Nazi-like with the schedule. You could design it monthly pretty much exactly how you'd want it, but if you missed days off of the schedule you made you were in trouble. They'd also tend to go aroung asking girls to fill in shifts, and even if the girl would say no they'd still put them on the schedule for it and try to fine them for not showing up lol.

Re: Schedules?
You bitches better fit my house into your schedule.

LOL!! :rotfl: Corny trolls!! I love 'em!!

Re: Schedules?
My club doesn't require a schedule at all. The only requirement is that you work a 4 or 5 hour shift depending on the DJ. I can't imagine working with a schedule. I'd find a new club asap.

Re: Schedules?
My club requires the dancers to schedule themselves for 3 shifts per week, missed shifts will get you a $50 fine or a "make-up" day shift, your choice.
SundayMorning: why are you only allowed to work nights on Sun and Mon?
-
Re: Schedules?
Definately !
The club I'm within you have to roster on the next week on Monday and the sooner you do so the better your chances to get the nights you want to work. Dancers who have been at the club longest get priority of the shifts they desire (if they submit their roster in early enough). I nearly had to work VDay next week because I nearly missed out on getting the nights I wanted to work......... it's really not that easy at my club at present because there are just so many dancers !
I'm used to it now. I like it. At the same time, there have been plenty of times I have wanted to go into work when I have been on reserve (this means I'm given preference to be allowed to work that night if someone cancels) and missed out so it can work against me as well.
So it is a bit of both: we make our own hours yet at the same time only if there is enough room to fit us in on that night(s).

Re: Schedules?
Man...that sucks. Because I really like working at this club otherwise.
Yek, I was wondering about that...the fact that I'm supposed to be an "independent
contractor," yet I have to stick to a schedule. I thought that was fucked up right away, but wasn't sure how to bring it up. I mean, is that even legal? I don't think they should be able to force us to pay fines when we don't come in on days that they want us to, since we're not on any sort of payroll.
There are other clubs here, but I just started dancing and don't want to switch clubs already. Plus, I've gotten a couple really nice regulars that i don't want to lose. Hmm....I guess I should bring this up with my boss. Bleh.

Re: Schedules?
At my old club we had to set a schedule with 4 days a week, and a mandatory Saturday and Sunday a month. My new club requires no schedule whatsoever, I drive an hour to work there but it is worth for me.

Re: Schedules?
Ive had to schedule, but I do it myself and its only a fine for a no show/call. other than that its bullshit

Re: Schedules?
At my club, we have a set schedule, but all the girls get to say what days/times they want to work. I can't imagine a manager just changing it and then having the audacity to try to fine you if you were not aware of the changes! That, and why can't you see the schedule or have a copy if they want it followed? I would definitely work on finding a new club with better management, good luck!
