Hold Up, Now it's Tucson
Sooo......
After some discussion R, MIL, and I have decided to move to Tucson short term. MIL decided that she would rent in Tucson (rent is cheaper there than Houston) for 6 months to allow her more time to shop for a house. Also looking at projections in the Houston market, prices should come down very soon with all the foreclosures.
So....I will be home in 10 days!!!:D

Wah you got my hopes up in the POTW thread and now I'm all crushed again! ;) J/k, I'm just glad you'll have a home. And Tucson is lovely from what I hear.

Welcome home BG! Good luck navigating the I-10 widening project through downtown. Temps will be in the mid 70s by this weekend. :)

Fuck that dude, not unless I have to. I usually go all the way to Ruthrauff (where it ends?) or get off at Kino right before it starts at Star Pass. If you just go straight through to either end traffic moves smoothly, it's only when you get off where the construction begins and you have to take the frontage roads that suck.

Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson
Ugh I-10 with the stupid gem show is stooopidly fucked up right now. They've got the frontage road down to 25 mph through where all the gem show hotels are.
Grr.
Welcome back Tucsonan. There's snow on Mt. Lemmon today.

Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson
Ergh. Gem Show. I forgot about that. Definitely staying off the frontage roads...

Smart move staying off the frontage roads if you can, and HK is right about the 25mph limit due to gem show pedestrians crossing the road like stray cattle. I don't know if you've been here since the construction started, but basically, if you are eastbound on I-10 (coming from Phx), you have to exit at Prince unless you are willing to stay funnelled into two lanes with no exits all the way to 29th street (same thing in reverse if westbound).

What I really want to know is why have I never met HardKandee and given her copious amounts of money to entertain me??? Must be too much playtime in Phoenix, and not enough in my hometown....:D

I fly under the radar. :D
BG, are you all driving back down again? Caravan-style?
-
Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson
Yes azdd, I have driven through it since construction started.
And yup, driving back caravan style. Lakeport to Palm Springs, CA, then Palm Springs to Tucson the next day.

Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson

i'd rent for 12-18 months before buying in houston or anywhere, though. but i'm cheap that way.

Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson

Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson
I was in Arizona a couple years ago during the summer. I experienced for the first time what 120 degrees felt like. I would get ready and go out, only to step outside into the dry, smoldering oven and just go back in the house with the a/c on high. lol.

Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson
^It doesn't get that hot too often.
You really do get used to it. And at least its a dry heat. ;)
-
Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson
Yeah, 120 isn't the norm, but last summer when I was delivery driving there was one week straight where it was 118. Bleh.

Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson
I have never gottenused to summer temps. I always want to move once July rolls around.
-
Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson
I totally forgot about the gem show...we usually get them in PHX the night before they fly home...when is it over?

Re: Hold Up, Now it's Tucson
Now, I think, because I talked to a jeweler in Portland this weekend who had sent an employee down. We talked about how funny it is that some of the Hasidic dealers wind up at the strip clubs!
