I have naturally dark brown, thick, wavy hair.
If I were to go blonde, I am thinking it will have to be platinum, WHITE blonde too look okay b/c my skin is a fair/olive tone...
Any suggestions? Anyone w/ similar coloring?

Honestly, a pale platinum blonde will destroy your hair... naturally dark, thick hair is almost impossible to bleach to a pale yellow which is how light your hair needs to be before it can be toned to a platinum blonde. You'll always be a warm, beige blonde at best. If you had fine hair, I'd say it could be done- but I'd never promise platnium results on dark, medium to coarse hair.
Also, getting to blonde will be a long and akward journey. It will take at least take 3 highlights to start seeing the results you want.
i am olive (YELLOW REALLY) and lite blonde looked TERRIBLE but honey/gold tawny looks great on me
Oh dear.... don't do it.
Dark, thick hair + Bleach = Bad!
If you are hell bent on going platinum, know that you will have many hours of pain ahead of you. Bleach burns, you will probably have to bleach your hair more than once because results could be spotty, and aside from that you have roots to look forward to in just 3 weeks. Yay!
I went strawberry blonde years ago. It fried my hair and it was a pain in the ass to maintain. I had to get the roots touched every 2 weeks.
I would totally suggest highlights though. Not totally blonde, but a caramel color or something like that.
I've got a natural golden color and although the color didn't look BAD bad...it just wasn't as striking as my dark hair. It washed me out instead of making me look better.
Maybe try some wigs on and see what you think?
My hair is naturally black and I am tanned. I like it but my hair is destroyed after 14 years of home bleaching!
I have dreadlocks so its passable but if you have to brush your hair then definatly consult a pro!!!
I have a light olive skin tone and was a bleached blonde years ago. FASHION DISASTER. Totally clashed with my skintone, made me look green.... don't go there! A dark honey blonde - very light brown is a better approach. Try some wigs on first before taking the plunge. Or compromise and go auburn, which looks much better with olive skin. A platinum blonde permanent dye used on dark brown/black hair will lighten it to a reddish shade, which is less damaging than bleaching will be.
I have naturally dark dark brown/black hair and an olive skintone (which is hard to see in the pictures)
Il post a picture of me as blonde as I can physically go
Its more of a golden blonde with ashy flashes through it. More on top than underneath. Its taken me about 6 months of highlights to get here - (highlights done every 2 months, now more frequently to deal with roots) I go and habe a half head of highlights, 2 x blondes, one honey/golden/warm blonde the other a really ashy blonde, have them really scattered randomly so the ashy shows up but the golden is the powerful o the two. I used to have atoner but that would take the colour right back down to dull town! So stopped having toners and really like the lightness.
Be warned, it plays havoc with your hair. my hair at the front of my head now is breaking and weak as hell. Lots of treatments are needed, and you cant use straighteners too often, but then again need them to tame the frizz. As muvh as i love th colour, its a bitch to maintain too!!!
I love my colour now - it lightens up my face. I miss being dark lots but now I have lighter hair and lighter brows and a fresher look I love it! Ready for summer.

I have olive skin and went blonde for a few years. I did highlights that brought me to about Carmen Electra's shade. I also had the very front part of my hair highlighted platinum to achieve that super bright look but not destroy my hair all over my head. It looked really hot actually. I think all over platinum would have looked stupid.
And please remember to do your brows!!
ETA: be prepared for lots of maintenance. I had to get my hair done every six weeks on the dot or it looked trashy real quick.
Instead of doing your whole head blonde, why not just do really heavy blonde highlights. I'm olive skinned myself and the dark brown streaks within all that blonde will look phenomenal!
Going from dark brown to platinum blond is a big change. Maybe you could do the highlights instead.
This is pretty... her hair still has demension, it's light yet beleivable and complementing to her skin and features...
This is the opposite...

In conclusion, Babystripper good, Donatella Versace bad... don't be Donatella!
Donatella is awesome!
I think I know what you mean about going platinum - like Holly from the Girls Next Door who is naturally dark brunette. The only problem is the fact that your hair is wavy. Platinum hair only looks really good heat styled, and it'll stress out already damaged hair.
dude, you guys don't even know. Donatella is my hero... but only if she's like Mia Rudolph's inpersonation of her on SNL
The only blondes who should be offended are those who's blonde looks like crap on them, like Donatella... her haircolor makes her look even more leathery and aged. If you're blonde looks good, go on and rock it- celebrities like Gwen Stephani, Jessica Simpson, and Fergie are all different, great blondes...
thanks guys. im going to stick w/ my natural color but im getting a wig like Donatella's!! haha hopefully it wont make me look like shit but if it does i will just sell it on ebay right
I'm in the same boat now that you were. how'd it turn out?
I have kinda dark skin and blonde hair (my hair is thin though) but it can be done if you have a good colorist!
I usually do my eyebrows too.
It's just a lot of maint.
Yeah babystripper pretty hair sexy body!
I'm greek and I have olive skin, as well as naturally dark brown hair. Recently I cut it super short and decided to try my hand at being blonde. BAD IDEA. It did look cute (I suppose) however, the process hurt like a bitch. I actually threw up while I was getting it bleached, it burnt so bad. Ultimately I decided it just wasn't for me, and dyed it back 4 days later. Here are some pics, as blonde as I got in one sitting:

I hope you have a better experience than I did.
^ we have the same natural hair color! I'm taking this to my stylist to match!
Good luck. I'm not kidding, it hurt. However, once you get pass the first process, it's not as difficult to get the color you want after that. I just wasn't fond of the blonde, felt it didn't suit me. I also hate the short.
