selling multiple dances up front
i'm used to selling the next dance at the end of the previous dance.. or just saying "you tell me when to stop" during the first or things along that line.
but lately i'm starting to wonder if i should say dances are X amount for X amount(plural)... rather than "20 a song".
the problem is, we are absolutely NOT allowed to cut deals. i'm talking "fired on the spot" for doing so. so i can't, for example, give a customer the 5th dance free or say "3 for 50" or anything like that.
so at a club like that (20 a song) how would you go about suggesting multiple dances UP FRONT rather than trying to sell each one?
what amount would you start at and how would you word it?
Re: selling multiple dances up front
When I worked at a club where dances were $3O each and some girls sold 2/$5Os I'd think 'fuck that' and tell the customers that dances were $3O individually and I had a special of 2/$6O. They never did the math and always went for it. That way I got paid for a full two dances unlike the girls doing 2/$5Os.
Re: selling multiple dances up front
I just say it's $20 a song and sometimes I'll say something to imply that we are doing multiples like when the first song starts I'll say "What a great first song" or "Lame song... I hope our second one is better" and then I start dancing. I obviously won't say things like this during the dance but right before I start, it seems to work. I also make never show signs that I am expecting him to stop like moving away, stopping dancing, or looking him in the eyes like I'm waiting for an answer. I just keep on moving until he says he's done.
Re: selling multiple dances up front
Say 3 for $60 and see if they catch on?
Re: selling multiple dances up front
I would usually do a song for $20 and if they wanted another great.
After the second one, I would of course keep asking for more. If after the second one they said no I would do the 3 for 50 thing. It works. Money really adds up at the end of the night especially if you are a really clean dancer and they realize by your 3rd song your not going to do what the other girls may have been doing.
Re: selling multiple dances up front
Sorry my bad. Forgot u worked in a club where you couldn't cut deals. Well, I did work in a couple of places like that. My hustle was well if you want one more it will be 19.99. If I do a really good job you can tip me a penny. This would be presented very joking and flirtaciously and it worked. The no cut deal rule is a good idea actually cause it gets rid of those 2 for 20 girls. Another thing that I did upon occasion all though it once bit me in the butt was offer a money back guarantee. "I will do one more for you and I offer a money-back-guarantee." Most people are not going to let you dance for them for 3 to five minutes and not pay you. I gave 20 dollars back once but overall it was a pretty good catchline.
Re: selling multiple dances up front
PP: Saying something like "20 each or 3 for 60" whatever, would backfire on me- it insults my intelligence, and gets me thinking ROB thoughts. I'm seasoned enough to know that there are certain clubs that don't do volume discounts.
IME, very few clubs do true volume discounts as practice (eg- a famous club on Dale Mabry). Still, your business model (flat rate) unclipped songs is still preferable to those gimmicky chain clubs & copycats whereby 2fer specials are nothing but clipped songs on top of their already clipped songs. ;)
Re: selling multiple dances up front
I used to work in a club in which all the girls would offer a £20 or a £10. Its essentially just 2 dances or one dance but the if you just say would you like a £20 or a £10 the guys sometimes assume that the £20 dance must be better. If the guy questions "Whats the difference?" I always say, "Well a 20 is twice as long but its 3 times as good," with a little wink and a smile. It was pretty effective and I forgot about it until I saw this thread, I'm gonna try it tonight and see how it goes.
Re: selling multiple dances up front
When I finish the first song I always ask if they want me to keep going or I say I get to do another one right while nodding my head and if they say no I do the sad pouty face and say well I guess I will get dressed then or if they say yes I say great cause we are having so much fun and I didn't want to get dressed yet anyways. You have to just make the guy/girl feel like they are the most fun you have had all night
Re: selling multiple dances up front
Telling guys that the dances are 3 for $60 will work. I don't know why you'd have to pretend it was some kind of deal. Just tell them that's what the dances cost. If it's a group of 3 guys and they seem like they'd go for it, tell them that you'll split the songs up between them if you get the $60 up front. Stuff like that. Don't do this with the club's regs, though... they'll think it sounds fishy.
At one of the clubs I worked at, we had a $30 per song option in the VIP room. I used to sell those 3 for $100 all the time, which is obviously not a deal for anyone but me. But... I'd get away with this because we also had completely retarded champagne room options that started at 15 minutes for $175 (we only kept $100 anyway), so I'd quote those first and if they didn't bite, work them down to the 3 for $100. I kept $80 from the 3 for $100s, which was more than made up for by the ease with which I could sell one vs. the other. No one ever even called me out on the extra $10, which was amazing to me.
I guess where I'm going with this is that you should always start your pitch with the most deluxe options your club has... VIP, champagne room, etc. If they're not going for that, 3 for $60 sounds like a deal in comparison and you've just very effectively sold more and managed your time that much more efficiently.

that is gold, polekitten! ;D
Re: selling multiple dances up front
yha I like that line too, polekitten.
I would feel awkward with saying some sort of deal that wasn't a deal because if anything it insults my intelligence and theirs (if you try to save yourself and be like "laugh: i know, but you be surprised how much it usually works" or something.
EDIT: maybe if you said "damn! Your supposed to be too drunk to catch that! :D". I'm really cute so dramatically putting my hands on my hips and making a pouty face would totally work, but I don't know what your style is.
I've given the "I give the best dances here, guaranteed" line before and when they say "oh, yha and what do I get if it's not" I smile and shrug real cute or cheeky (depending on my mood) and say "then you don't have to buy another dance". It gets few laughs. I really only use this on the guys who are unsure if they wanna get one from me.
I've done the get 5 dances and I'll throw a free one in, but it does make me feel cheated.
for the op, if you absolutely can not cut deals then I think polekittens idea is the cutest. I'm trying to think of some more, but I'm stuck at the moment.
Re: selling multiple dances up front
Do you get your money before the dances start? Is that why you want to sell multi dances up front? In that case, I like Newmoon's idea of implying from the start that there are more dances to come...unless you just want to be upfront and say that 3 songs are $60. However, I also agree that it could be insulting to the customer IF he thinks you're trying to pull a quick one on him.
I just ask why you have to sell dances upfront if you don't get your money right away, b/c the customer could easily agree to 3 dances, but not like the first one and then say he'll "come back for the rest." Why don't you just focus on keeping the custie as long as you can, as opposed to only 3 or 5, etc songs?
Re: selling multiple dances up front
i'm at a place where the custy has to pay up front cuz they have to put it in a timer machines (no more having to listen for song changes or waiting till the next song starts) but i get tips up front. i go "well a dance is 20, but if you tip me twenty i can do alot more/make it really dirty" DO NOT be specific- well, dont if your a clean dancer like me and your version of dirty is moaning and breathing on thier neck. the guys feel thier getting a deal, you get more money, you cant get fired for overcharging cuz its a tip, and its not solitation cuz your not promising anything. To sell vip i fuck 'em with math "Vip is 100 for 15 min and since the dances are 2.5 min you get an extra one free"
Re: selling multiple dances up front
how does the timer machine work? Do you go into a room to do single dances? Or is it something you carry around?
Re: selling multiple dances up front
its a big black box in each booth with a red light, greenlight, countdown screen, "key reader" and money slot. we put our magnetic key to it, and when it says our name on the screen, we feed the money in, a green light comes on and the $ amout counts down on it (so you know exactly how much longer you have) its 20 a dance we get 13 for each when we "cash out" at the end of the night. we also have a reader by the dressing room where we can see how much we've made so far. tips we put in our purse, the machines are just for the dance fees.
Re: selling multiple dances up front
last night 200 in dance money, 300 in "tips"- 90% of guys go for the "better" dance this has doubled what i used to make when i just used to ask for a tip instead of asking for a certain amount of a tip. on a 200 in dances night i used to only average about 50 in tips.
Re: selling multiple dances up front
instead of "cutting a deal" where you charge less, can you charge them the same and then buy them a beer?
now-- I know there's some threads at the moment about buying custies beers, but if a guy spends a nice chunk of change, then I'll buy them a beer SOMETIMES. I think I've done it twice.
so can you phrase it like, "if you do three dances for $60, I'll throw in a beer." or something like, "AFTER you do three dances for $60, I'll get the waitress to bring you a beer."
so-- 1.) change if to AFTER so that he gets the idea that this IS going to happen, and 2.) getting the waitress to get him a beer is an ambiguous statement so even if the beer comes, he'll probably reach for his wallet anyways, and if he doesn't-- then you buying the beer has occurred well after the initial financial transaction.

lol. I know where you're at. How's business? I was lucky if I made $300 and I was driving 1.5 hrs to get there.
bummer. are there any bachelor party companies out that way?
I never looked in that area.
Re: selling multiple dances up front
Can you UPCHARGE? how about saying one dance is 25$ but if you buy 3 its only 60!

Re: selling multiple dances up front
I like the 3 for 60 idea, it guarantees 3 dances, i think i will try that tonight.
Re: selling multiple dances up front
Not to threadjack, but Kittytheflamingo GODDAAYUM that black box idea is ridiculous. It sounds so fun though! I want one lol I imagine you cashing out at the end of the night and getting all quarters like at the casino haha
