If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
I am just curious what you would do if you had the opportunity to start your own club. I'll start:
If I owned a strip club, I would:
1. Have the lowest house fees compared to any other club in my area
2. On Mondays and Saturdays cut that house fee in half
3. On birthdays, NO House Fees!
4. I would have parties at other hot night clubs to generate new business
5. I would eliminate ALL dirty girls from the club
6. Lower the drink prices here (it's now at $17 a pop! or $20 if you are in champagne area)

And I would so work in your club. lol

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
hmm...well I know what I WOULDN'T do...I wouldn't make the girls peddle the stupid merchandise that nobody really wants or needs. Hell, I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "I can't take that home to my wife." And the 2-4-1 deals would not be mandatory. Only if the girls WANT to do them.
Oh, and the housemom will have to have been a former dancer herself (bonus if she's a cosmetologist also), so she can actually empathize with what the girls go through. Our club has a house "dad," (who was a former floorman)and although he's great, I think that is the stupidest thing ever. He can't do much for us, other than put us in the computer, take our house fees, and distribute things we may need or have forgotten (ie: tampons, razors, hairspray, body spray, that kinda thing). Yet we are required to tip every night. And he sure as hell can't relate.
I also think that if you've worked, say three nights already that week, then on your fourth night you get free house fee for the remainder of the week. I used to work at a club that did that. It really did motivate the girls to come in.
Also, a buffet-style table in the DR. With sandwiches, fruits/veggies. We all get hungry at work, and don't always have time to order in or sit down and have a meal.
I've thought about this a million times over, and have tons of ideas. These are only a few.

I had to copy post from the "Dream Club" thread. I know nychaos99 will give me an eye-roll ::) but hey... it's my :twocents:

There would be ATM's and no funny money. There would be plenty of security and bouncers.
Dancers would be happy rather than snooty. It would just be a better atmosphere.
There would be a variety of girls, all shapes, sizes, races, with tattoos, with purple hair, girls that aren't anorexic, girls that are short, pin-up types with pale pale skin, voluptuous girls with curves.
The songs would be 4 minutes max. Floor work would be allowed. Nudity would be allowed. Stage tipping would be encouraged.
The number of girls working on a given night would be capped at a reasonable number...

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
1. Build my stages for comfort and ease of use -- no weird acrylic surfaces or wobbly poles.
2. Keep the music at a reasonable volume.
3. Kick customers out for being abusive.
4. Not charge dancers a funny money conversion fee.
5. Keep the ATM/credit card fees reasonable (10% or below).
6. Establish a relationship with every concierge and cab or limo driver that I possibly could to secure hotel and tourist business.
7. Have price options for all types of customers from the $100 customer to the $10K customer; at least two different tiers of floor dances and two different VIP options. Make it both affordable at the lower end and luxe at the high end.
8. Make VIP prices all-inclusive -- one amount gets the room, the drinks, and the dancer. No confusing "It's $500 an hour. Then there's a $100 drink tab minimum, and a service charge of $60" -- just set the price and include everything.
9. Allow dancers a certain amount of price flexibility, but establish a floor beneath which prices can't drop.
10. Hire really hot women with good attitudes.

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
I would make my club dancer/ female friendly.
1. One way I would do that is by have a non-slippery stage, and "skinny mirrors" LOL.
2. Female body friendly lighting.
3. A mini convience store inside with toiletries....super glue, tampons, hairspray..etc...that way everybody would quit using MY SHIT!
4. I would set up an area of the club equipped with webcams. That area would include a stage, table dance chairs...The web customers could request their favorite girls. The girls that choose to participate would get a cut of those profits. That would help dancers out on dead nights and bring in more customers.
5. I would have a appearence code for the dancers.
6. Ditto to the nasty girls and the housefees.
7. Set up some kind of plastic surgery program. Something like for every dollar the girl put in I would match that by .50 cents. Then have some kind of contract where she would have to work at the club for 6 months after surgeryor I would take her before Judge Judy.
8. Make sure all the furniture was steam cleaned WEEKLY.
9. Bigger lockers, BiG dressingroom.
10. Girls would have a right to claim 3 songs...nobody could dance to it. EVER! That would eliminate at least 2 fights a night. "that bitch is doing my [email protected]!!** (just kidding)
11. Hire a female to run the floor. ( that worked very well at my old club) They actually put up with less shit from the girls.

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
men would be required to buy funny money instead of paying an entrance fee.
the dressing room would be CLEAN and spacious.

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
Sophia_Starina, no eye rolls here- everyone has a right to their own opinion (for owning their own club!)
But HELL YEAH on the dressing room. Ours is the tiniest thing ever.
*I would definitely make a nice, large, and COMFORTABLE, dressing room.
*Plenty of lockers, separated into sections for the regular girls and the out-of-towners
*I JUST THOUGHT OF THE BEST THING! I would have, once a week, an in-house manicure/pedicure person to come in early, for girls who need last minute nails
*In the private rooms, I would have a 'call button' or 'butler button' so that if you needed something from the waitress/bar, you could just let them know- kind of like an airplane has that button. This way, you wouldn't have so many people in and out of the room.
*I would give the entertainers and all staff HALF off of the dinner menu when not dining with a customer
*To get the girls in early, I would deduct $20 off the housefee if you arrived within 30 minutes of the club opening.

Apologies for the testosterone based interruption. If you eliminate the dirty girls, I would come. As a customer, I hate dirty girls. The harass me to no end and I will have nothing to do with them.
Now sexy girls that tease and flirt, thats a different issue. ;)

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
Well I do, and all is alright except the drama! I do what I can but its always there in one shape or another. Sometimes, I just want to ignore it adhere to the survival of the strongest policy. Damn!

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
I like nychaos' post! I'd also do what I could to ensure I had personable staff/management. I can't stand when mgmt is more concerned with money and business than the welfare of the girls. If you take care of the dancers, you'll have higher morale and less problems with them IMO.

^^Quick threadjack....I love your name WillStrip4Shoes. Reminds me of the time RoseLeigh and I were in the DR and were discussing our love for cheap shoes at Payless. This girl came up to us and goes "Why would you want to pay LESS? These shoes I have on cost me a G!!!!!!" hahaha we just looked at each other real funny.
*Free meal if you work over 6 hours, as a way of saying thank you
*NO extras
*soft lighting, not that disco shit
*GET RID of freaking funny money, and just get an ATM with a fee
*If you work 3 days, your 4th day is free

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
If I owned a club, I'd get rid of dance fees. A flat house fee, yeah. But to take a cut of each dance is wrong, IMO. No one at the club has any right to money that you earn doing dances if they are not doing the dance or helping you get the dance.
Clubs should pay bouncers, and girls could still tip DJs if they felt inclined because DJs do (or SHOULD) help girls make money. I've never known a DJ to help me get a champagne room or anything, but I do think they can help make or break your stage performance. But that's another topic altogether...
I'd give incentives for girls showing loyalty and coming in often and during times when we need girls. (Monday nights and dinner time, particularly). My club keeps hounding girls to come in during these times but they have nothing to offer us! Why should we?
I'd also do away with those shitty disco lights, particularly the blue and green ones that make me look like a corpse cuz I'm pale. I'd keep it to pink, red, very soft and subtle. Maybe a few blacklights but not too many.
The poles must be made of brass and must be sturdy. No question. Stage material should not be marble or linoleum. Some kind of resin is the best, I think. Also it will be cleaned regularly. There's nothing nastier than the thought of rolling around in someone's sweat, shoe dirt and possible other bodily fluids.
Girls should be required to cover up on the floor. Either with a gown or wrap.
Extras girls will be fired and executed. With sporks.
Girls doing drugs will be fired and NOT re-hired until they pass a drug test.
I like the finger foods idea for the DR. I think it would cut down on a lot of bitching, slugglishness, low energy and time wasted ordering expensive meals.
I'd follow Casa Diablo's lead and make everything vegan too.
Customers who are belligerent, abusive and/or grabby will be asked to leave. Those who are excessively propositioning the girls will also be kicked out for good.
No dancing to the same song twice per shift. It's good to have variety, and some girls are pretty unoriginal with their music choices. I've had customers sometimes complain, "Didn't I just hear this song an hour ago?". Yeah...and I have heard it ALL day every hour or so.
I think that's it for now...I know I've got a lot of ideas but I think many of them have already been covered here and in other threads too.

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
I would follow the best advice I've ever heard, from one of the best club owners I've ever encountered:
"Happy dancers make for happy customers."
It's easy to make decisions as to how to run a club if you keep this in mind. Make it a place where the best WANT to work and it'll be a place customers want to spend money at.
-
Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
Dress code: No sweatpants or running shorts
:)

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
Fuck house fees. My club would be unionized and represented by the SEIU. No more independant contractors. Dancers would be paid a salary (that would raise with seniority) just like cocktail waitresses and bar staff. Workman's Comp also included. We would have the option of buying stock, a 401k and health care, for those who are particularly ambitious in investing in the never-ending money making potential of a strip club. Tip-out would not be manditory but everything would be sold on commision basis. Drinks and dances sold 60/40 (dancer/house) and everything would be a set price. Of course, dancer keeps everything she makes on-stage.
RE: Indira: "7. Set up some kind of plastic surgery program. Something like for every dollar the girl put in I would match that by .50 cents. Then have some kind of contract where she would have to work at the club for 6 months after surgery or I would take her before Judge Judy."
This is brilliant. I would have taken advantage of something like this years ago. Maybe I would make it part of my insurance coverage too or help dancers figure out a way to write the cosmetic surgery/asthetics/nails/costumes off in taxes.
RE: AlexxaHex: "No dancing to the same song twice per shift."
OMG, thank you! I swear, this is my biggest pet peeve at work. I would have some sort of system that's iPod or Zune compatible so girls could just plug in thier MP3 players and have all their songs to choose from. That's what we do at my club. Its awesome.

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
Controversial maybe, but I'd do whatever was necessary to discourage female patrons/couples. Sure they occasionally buy dances and tip, but they account for a tiny percentage of most dancers' income, and I much prefer it when they aren't there. I'd foster a boy's club type atmosphere, an escape from the ball n chain or whatever. I think it would be really good for $$$

I also think all SW members should have a special hat or amulet they can wear at all clubs, that way I know which girls have read my posts on here and I can change my identity in person ....Lmao... :D

All of the above, plus:
11. Cap the number of girls nightly, based on average business levels. Fewer girls on slow days, more on busy days.
12. Schedule girls for shifts and pay a wage - take $5 of dances up to X number, then dancers keep all $ for dances sold over that.
13. Have a decent dressing room that's kept clean, with lockers that work.
14. Get rid of dirty dancers and slimy staff.
15. Pay managers bonuses based on VIP and champagne sales, NOT door counts.
16. Pay the staff. Give some commission on sales.
17. Make the DJ cut all songs at 3 minutes. No backup time bullshit.
18. Separate bathroom for dancers.
19. No cattle calls, dance specials or merchandise hustles (k maybe offer stuff through the bar).
20. NO TVs!
21. Disallow female customers unless they are part of a couple OR a group of obvious lesbians. No single chics at all, EVER.
Above all, remember that the customers are there to see the girls, not the DJ or WTFever - and that the girls who work the floor night after night just might have a handle on what the customers want so I could listen to their suggestions sometimes.

Re: If I Owned A Strip Club, I Would...
I really like the way my club is run tbh:
$30 house fee. then we keep all tips, no tip-outs etc.
we only pay this house fee on friday and saturday nights, the other nights are free to work.
the staff and management are not sleazy, we are like a little family where pretty much everyone gets along really well.
there are no apparent extras, well of course some shit must go on but at my club an extra would be the customer touching the dancer in any way coz my club doesn't allow touching.
the only things i dont like about my club are the lighting and the music: they play just popular stuff and i hate it. i like rock, grunge, metal and also hip hop and rnb.
we dont get to choose our own music on podiums so it can be difficult to dance to the same crappy shit all the time.
the lighting is that awful red lighting that makes everyone look like they have cellulite. i wish they would put lots of uv lighting in.
other things i would do:
- not allow people in for free except regulars who spend on dancers (not bar regulars)
- not allow groups of girls in
- limit the amount of couples allowed it (some are ok but too many females in the club ruins it for male customers)
- have more security staff and make them visible in the private dance areas
- beat up customers who touch the dancers not just kick them out, there has to be a deterant ;D
-
