man, taxes and real jobs!
(I figured this was just a rant so I threw it in the lounge instead of DD)
I just got my first full paycheck from my first Straight Job today. I got one 2 weeks ago but only for 3 days of work and they just deducted about 20 dollars. I am currently paid $12/hr (soon to have full medical/dental/vision, IRA matching and commission).
When I opened my paycheck, they had deducted so much that I actually RECEIVED $9/hr!!! :( They deducted over $200!!! Fucking A, I FUND my own IRA so I don't have to bitch about medicare! Medicare is like a dumb pyramid scheme. BOOO!
Seeing as this is my first real job since graduating college (I worked there but have stripped since my junior year), it was a NASTY shock. I mean, that's almost as big of a deduction as a self-employed person!
Luckily, they said that I'm performing so well that they are willing to put me on commission a full two months before I am even done with my evaluation period (i.e. first 90 days) because I am so good/focused at my job! :) I'm sure once that starts I'll have a new variety of nasty shocks, but at least I will have control of them. I love my job in any case (it's really the job I am cut out for perfectly in this point in life) and there's room for advancement and I am able to live below my means (I spent less than $200 in the last two weeks!!!), but.... :P :P :P
Re: man, taxes and real jobs!
Congrats on the swift promotion.

That's exactly what it is, according to Congress.
Re: man, taxes and real jobs!
^^So fucking dumb. I mean, I am structuring my 23 year old life to provide for myself in 40 years, why do I have to have $.25 taken out of every workhour for them too? Jeez!
