I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
Sorry, I just had to vent.... I know being vain is a terrible sin, but I've benn crying for 2 days because what they did to me is just horrible. I loved LatinaRose review about the GHD styler, but when she posted her pictures I knew I had to have that hair.... mine was waist length, but it didn;t really have shape..... so I decide to go to the fucking hair salon, WITH A PICTURE, and told them I wanted to keep my length..... well, next thing I know my hair was 12" SHORTER, and in a straight line..... I HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT!!!!!! I don't even want to go to work, I just don't feel like myself. Mirrors are banned in my house. To make things worse, my hair is really thick, and now that it's shorter, it fluffs like a cotton ball.
Do you guys know of a miracle product to promote hair growth? I'm desperate!!:'( :'( :'(

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
... Holy crap! My hair is just about waist length and I have NIGHTMARES about someone cutting it off like that!
If you condition it really well, will it lay back down? Curl the ends, maybe? My mom used to eat that packaged gelatin. She said it helped with nail and hair growth. I dunno if it's true, but her nails and hair have always been amazing. I've also heard good things about these: http://mp.hairboutique.com/brand.asp?MnfID=45 Make sure you take good care of it so you don't have to trim it as often and it will take less time to grow back

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
I was just there a couple of weeks ago. Still adjusting to my short little bob, when my long thick hair was my pride and joy and I was so close to my waist-length goal. So you're not alone, I feel your pain.
Take vitamins with plenty of biotin, and use protein treatments to keep it strong and healthy as it grows back. It might grow back healthier and prettier than it was before.

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
OMG that's why I've done my own haircuts for 10 years. Salon people just LOOOOVE to chop off all your long hair even when you specifically tell them you only want a trim. ARRGH I feel your pain!

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
What picture had the hair you were trying to get? Just out of curiosity.
I'm sorry this happened to you. I've never had it happen before because I always have my mom (or someone I could kill in their sleep in case something goes wrong :)) trim it first and then go in there and say "DO NOT cut anything off, only layers" and they will argue about split ends and you'll have to get real stern and say "I don't care about the split ends, if you cut the length I'm going to be seriously mad".
Kind of harsh but my mom had a similar expirence to you happen a few times before and she cried too. Hair is too precious to lose if you went ready for it.
Theres tons of extentions thread floating around here recently, maybe try those out?

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
This has happened to me, too. It's an awful, awful feeling. :( I cut my own hair now because I refuse to have this happen to me again - salon people LOVE to take off tons of length, especially when you tell them not to.
Sorry this happened to you!

I do the same now too! I don't know why every stylist I go to wants to cut a foot off my hair until its above my shoulders. I think they get off on it :P or just want to make us look totally different. I would flat out cry if someone snipped off my long hair. My mom has the same problem with people touching her bangs. She was going to a ritzy, expensive guy who insisted on giving her Bettie Page bangs that looked hilariously bad but he claimed she needed. Finally she switched to a young girl right out of school who does exactly what she wants and doesn't touch her bangs.
A tiny trim at home every few weeks to cut off split ends and my hair has never been better. I started taking Biotin supplements and I'm hoping they will help but it hasn't been long enough to really judge.

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
After reading more posts on this thread, I want to add that I also give my stylist a lecture everytime I go in about the length. I'm not mean about it, I just calmly explain that I will have a mental breakdown if she cuts off too much. It always makes them really careful. Like, they show me how much they are planning to cut by holding their fingers to the ends of my hair and ask me if it's okay. My stylists have all probably thought that I was crazy, but I tipped them well so meh.

Joplin, this is the thread I was talking about:

Go to the 2nd page, that's where she posted her pictures beautiful beautiful hair.....* runs off to cry some more *

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
Did you not realize he was taking off a foot of your hair?
-
Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
When someone hacked my butt length hair I was turned away from the mirror. A lot stylists do that for "element of surprise", to me it seems to end up in tears more often that not.

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
I know what a trim is and I always pick up the ends of a client's hair and show them how much legnth I'm taking off. Not all stylists suck.
However, I will admit I get annoyed with the clients who have shit hair- completely frazzeled, broken ends that they refuse to cut off. The kicker is they're always the ones who come in for a haircut every 3-6 months so it just looks worse with every visit, but their straggly ends are past thier bra stap so that's all that matters. I do what they want, I just don't give them my business cards... I really don't want stangers to associate me with frizzy, dull messes.

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
yep! that happened to me too. one time i went in for just a clean up and trim and next thing u know my waist length hair is CHOPPED, like 10 inches. ummmm i did NOT ask for that. i complained to the manager when i got home, and he said i could get a free hair cut, im like ?????? i don't want anymore hair cut, i want my hair back. i swear the bitch was jealous of my hair. i took me forever to get used it, and even worse took what seemed forever to grow back.::)
im sorry that happened to you hun. please call the salon so the manager has a heads up that one of their stylists is a lil scissor happy.
-
Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
Oh honey, I'm so sorry.
The same thing happened to me. My hair was my pride, the only thing I felt that was mainstream attractive and made me pretty. And in the blink of an eye (or i should say, the snip of scissors), my hair went from half way down my back, to my chin, with absurdly short layers.
It sucks.
But, at least now (the very small bright side) you are certain now all the hair is left is healthy, undamaged hair. Take some hair supplements like biotin, get a good diet, and really focus on caring for your hair to maximize growth.
I know after I was done crying, I speeded to Sally's to get clip in extensions (for nights out when short hair depressed me to much) and tons of pretty headbands/clips/barrettes to help me through the growth period. You may want to try that.
Good luck!

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
I would demand a refund. I would also take that picture back to the salon manager and ask how the hair cut you received resembles the photo in hand. I'd be pissed.

OMG I have seen this zillions of times and it is such a pet peeve of mine! Girls have hair down their back and the last four inches of it is straggly and five times thinner than the rest of their hair. It looks gross. I don't understand how they can overlook that and pride themselves on their length.
There was a time when my hair was so effin' damaged from what I had been doing to it for years and I wanted it long, but I still kept going to the salon and getting it cut shoulder-length everytime it grew out because I knew short healthy hair looked a hell of a lot better than long gross hair. Not a lot of people know that from what I've seen. :O

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
I used to be one of those people. It was brittle and frazzled for the last several inches, but I could sit on it. I eventually cut it off and learned my lesson when "Wow, your hair is LONG" changed to "Wow, your hair is GORGEOUS!"
I still want it long (*sigh*) but healthy is more important.

I agree to go for blood (and also with the clip in extensions, they will probably make you feel better).

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
please post a photo. I'm sure that you look beautiful, maybe you just need to get used to it?!
(please dont shoot me for being optimistic. Have you tired to style it yet? )
kisses and hugs

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
Well, I went and got the clip in extensions, I need to practice putting them on though.... I haven't tried to style it yet, because everytime I look in the mirror I want to cry. Today my friend is going to flat iron it and put the extesions on... I hope it looks ok.
This is really depressing: I went to work the day I got the haircut (don't ask me why!), and when I saw my regular (who happened to be sitting w/ his friend at the table behind me) he tells his friend: " I told you it was her", and the friend says :"Well... I thought it was her, but her hair used to be long....." needless to say I had to hold back my tears....
And THANK YOU, all of you for your support and for helping me find the bright side of it.
PS (I don't think I can post any pictures, it's just too depressing. Just imagine it used to be down to my waist, now it barely touches my bra strap.....)

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
Oh wow honey that really sucks. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago by this stupid stylist at Toni & Guy. I wound up with a free future haircut from their top stylist b/c I complained A LOT. I've found that I have to be really firm with my stylists now. As in, " I only want this much cut off. If you cut any further, I will be very upset and will not pay for this haircut." I am very specific as to how much they may cut off and ask them to show me after their first snip. I always tell a new one that I'm not trying to offend them, that I've just had some really bad experiences with stylists in the past and I don't want this to turn into one of them ;)
I went and bought clip ins right away. Mine were 18", but if you want waist length for for 20-22". Take excellent care of your hair so it grows out healthy. If you research the "turbo hair" thread (I think thats what its called), it has tons of info on the vitamins you need to take to accelerate your hair growth.

Once somebody takes a snip out its too late unless you want one chunk of hair shorter than the rest.

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
^^^ Yes, and also if you wear glasses you can be really fucked. When I got my hair butchered, I didn't have my glasses on so I had no damn idea what she was doing until it was too late.

Re: I HATE, HATE, HATE my haircut!!!!
things like this make me so nervous to get my hair cut... i get so paranoid every time i need a trim... its a terrifying experience.
