What are your faults?
Such a bullshit question. Next time, reply with something along the lines of, "Well, I'm not really that introspective." If they press, "I really couldn't say; besides, most people are poor judges of their own faults, don't you think?"
Congrats anyway.

Aw, interviews can be so intense. You got through it all right though, congratulations on getting the job!!
Re: Bella's Job Interview
^That's a good one. I said something about looking for more experiance to further my career goals. What do you think about his, "You seem bright enough" line? What was that supposed to mean, anyways? Like, "You don't seem like a complete idiot so you'll do okay." :( Or, maybe, "You don't have much work experiance but you seem like you'll learn okay"? Hm, maybe the last one.... Thanks for the encouraging words! :) I think I need a glass of wine or something, I'm still nervous-feeling.
Re: Bella's Job Interview
That is a good one.
Congrats! :flower: After one interview too! You are smart though so don't forget that. :lamp: When I feel good enough to walk and be normal a couple weeks from now we shall celebrate!

I agree.
At best, it's showing poor tact (and not very good personnel management skills, either). At worst, he's basically saying you're just above the threshold of expectations for the position.
Remember that most managers are terrible, terrible interviewers with no real idea how to hire people--it really is a skill in and of itself that doesn't get taught at management schools because you basically have to know how to read people and how to elicit information from them in addition to knowing what they actually need to fill a position.
Watch your step with him.
Re: Bella's Job Interview

Interviews do get easier
The hardest one is the first

Um, that's not normal at all. It's actually illegal for him to ask you questions like that.
Congrats!
Re: Bella's Job Interview
^Yea, that's what I thought. I think CO is right and that guy had no idea what he was doing. They should work on their HR department... *wink wink* Luckily, I had a story lined up but... yea, I thought that topped right up there with, "Are you pregnant?"
<-- desprately wants to get into HR.

Re: Bella's Job Interview
'nother good answer I've heard for "what are your faults":
"I'm too self-critical."

When you take someone on for a job, they'll average three years or so before they move on. So multiply your monthly salary by 36 to see what this guy is probably going to invest in you.
Of course he asked questions - and hard ones at that.

He was probably staring at you because he had the gut feeling that you weren't being 100% honest with him, and he was trying to find out why.
"Because you're bright enough" was him putting his foot in his mouth for a moment. Even interviewers make mistakes.

He wanted to make sure you'll be stable in the job. No point in spending 6 months training you and then finding out you want to quit. He's back to square one in that case and with 6 months wasted into the bargain.
Phil.
Re: Bella's Job Interview
That seems like a cool little part time job that meshes well with your dancing too. Congratulations. I admire your effort.

I always figure this is a trick question to see if you know how to play the interview game. If you say something like "Well, I tend to take long lunches at the bar, and some days I have trouble getting out of bed and coming to work," you don't know how to play the game. If you answer something like "Well, sometimes I get so involved in my work that I forget to go home at quitting time," you do.
I don't know why that ask it, but I've been asked it on every interview I ever went on.
Congrats on getting the job!

Re: Bella's Job Interview
^Haha, I was halfway ready to say, "I work too hard" just because I thought it would be funny and mock the question (since you can't expect people to answer honestly with that one), but I thought my personal humor wasn't worth it. :)
P.S. Monkey's back!
