2nd week of eating only fruit & veggies. God I'm a bitch right now!
Monday thru Friday, I'm eating only fruits and veggies. No dairy, fat or sugar. Well I've had a little splash of soy milk in my coffee every morning. If I gave that up I might very well kill something. }:D
I've been getting up at 6am to hit the gym. That way I don't find excuses not to go during the day. Doing 45 min cardio and 15-20 min with weights. I'm already back and showered by the time my kids wake up which makes my day much easier.
Last week I lost 4 lbs, and I was cheating during dinner then. This week I haven't got on the scale, but my pants are fitting better. Yay!!!
Gosh, I'm freakin starving though. I'll eat a huge salad and a piece of fruit and feel stuffed, but hungry at the same time. Weird. I used to eat like this all the time and never felt that way.
My after-baby weight loss stalled completely when I was still about 14 lbs away from my goal, so I'm really hoping this does the trick. I want to take all of the extra weight off this time. Not all but 5 or 6 lbs like with my first son.
Any idea on how to get rid of the crankies? Or even better why they are so bad. It's not like I'm not eating, just eating differently. I ate like this all the time back in college, and never got cranky. Back then it wasn't even an attempt to lose weight, it was just what I liked to eat.
Edit: And to make my mood even better, I started my period 2 weeks early today. >:( I'm always super regular, never early. ARRRRGGGG!!!!!!!

Honey, given your history, don't you think it might be wiser just to eat a little more, and let the weight come off slower over time?
Carbs in the morning, do it! And either coffee or green tea for energy and mild appetite supression.
What is your goal anyway? Is it realistic? And what type training are you doing at the gym? If I recall, you were a competitive athlete, right?

No, not me your thinking of. I was bulimic/anorexic and used to run 6 mls every morning and do another hr of cardio and 45 min of weights in the evening. That sounds WAY worse when I write it down than it did in my head.
That's one reason I'm doing this. I kinda had a major slip a couple of weeks ago. When I fired the maid and didn't think I was gonna get a new one. The bulimia's always been the worst, so if I have a setback it's easiest to fix by going really strict for a month or so until the urge to binge fades.
I know being more reasonable with my diet would be best, but with the severity of my last setback I needed a major change. I was seriously scared to death there was gonna be no way out this time.
Anyway, I figured the fruit and veggies were good for me, way better than when I was 20ish and went on the 2 cans of coke and 1 Hershey bar a day diet. ;D

Wow! That takes mad will power. I've tried to do it before, but I couldn't do it. I was a serious bitch so I don't really have any advice on that, but keep up the good work :)

Go ahead and get mad at me for saying this but you need to adjust your diet and NOT do what you are doing.....You could drop dead from cardiac arrest if you are not eating properly and exerting yourself.
You seem like a nice person and the world is a prettier place with you in it. Please don't endanger yourself.

If you're not eating any fat, that's why you're not getting "full" signals... add a little olive oil at least, or you may slow down your metabolism in the long term, and gain all the weight back plus more!

Too much sugar (fruit) without fat or protien to tango with it in your belly will mess up your blood sugar, too. You need something more than just salad and fruit. It's not substantial. PB sammich (with whole wheat bread), egg on toast or something. Be careful, hon.

I'm doing my own crash detox thing this week and I just posted a neat breakfast idea in the forum, bananas + cocoa powder + pb.
Chocolate without sugar, by the way, is highly nourishing, highly filling, fat-containing but not fattening, and altogether really really good for you. It contains more mineral nutrients (iron, magnesium, ... everything) than spinach or anything else you'll commonly find nearby.

Same here you're body needs carbs. Something more than fruits and veggies. Just those isn't a balanced healthy diet. Add some proteins with a small amount of fat and a bit of whole grains and its a much better diet.

Try adding beans to the salad for protein. Also make sure you're getting some fat, like olive oil or put avocado on your salad.

This kind of crash dieting can't be good for your health. To really lose weight and keep it off, you need to make lifestyle changes, not starve yourself for a period of time. This is what causes yo yo dieting. By incorporating more lean protein, whole grains, legumes, and healthy fats, you can eat without being hungry all the time and still lose weight.

Damn girl you gotta add some protein. Add some avocadoes or beans like someone already suggested, or maybe some tofu or "vegetarian" meat.
I understand your wanting to get all the baby weight off (I'm in the same boat...have 7 more lbs to lose) but...Your diet sounds more harmful than helpful.

Madmaxine - I'm not gonna get mad at you. I'm not that cranky. Thank you for your concern. I really didn't think I could induce possible cardiac arrest this way. I'm eating a decent amount, just trying to stick to fruits and veggies.
The Olive Oil is probably a good idea Chaosfairy. Might help with the hunger.
I should be getting at least some protein in my veggies. My dinner last night was a 1/4 cup roasted potatos, big serving of lightly steamed sugar snap peas, edamame, black beans and carrots, and a large salad with fat-free dressing. Everyone kinda scared me so I added a handful of almonds and sunflower seeds today.
Anyway this is only till Friday, just a kind of semi-detox to jump start my weight loss. I usually eat very healthy, but have just had a really hard time losing weight lately.

Your brain needs fat. Also magnesium and B12. That's at least part of why you're cranky. Some good oils will help, and like chaos said cacao beans/powder will give you all kinds of magnesium and good brain nutrients without the dairy and sugar, and an egg in the morning would help with the B12.
Also, I don't understand why you're eating beans and potatoes. Did you know the Mayans fed potatoes to their prisoners to make them fat and stupid so they couldn't escape?
To summarise: eat an egg in the morning cooked in a bunch of oil. Drizzle oil on your salads. Cook your veggies in lots of oil. Eat some yummy cacao beans. They're veggies, kinda.

Eat MORE! Why not include some nuts, and some fatty fruits like avocado in. Maybe you're not getting enough fats and protien. I notice you are not trying to go raw, but I recommend it since you like fruits and vegis. Its super healthy and you will lose weight regardless (even if you eat the fatty fruits and nuts too and even if you eat a lot of fruits and vegis)

They actually are good for you- they contain fibre and B vitamins.

^ It's mostly because they're so sugary and high carb. They spike your blood sugar and then you're hungry again, and they also give you that happy spaced out kind of feeling and then you crash and get all depressed. I mean, they don't make you stupid literally, but they might slow you down and make you less motivated to escape prison.
They are really, really sugary tho. Like eating a snickers bar, in my mind anyways.

get rid of the coffee! try replacing it with an herbal tea
add raw nuts/seeds/ and beans to your diet
consider eating some whole grain toast with an olive oil (non hydrogenated) based margarine
its really satisfying when you've been doing only fruits/veggies

I did this for 10 days once (didn't last longer lol) but adding beans to the salad, peanut butter to the apple, olive oil to the cooked veggies will make you diet less "anorexic" and more of something you can stick to.
I always lose a ton when I cut out obvious carbs (bread, pasta, rice, etc) and dairy so if you start shifting your diet that direction you'll keep loosing and not feel like such a bitch lol and it will be healthier and more do-able when you go out to restaurants and stuff.
