I'm auditioning for a burlesque show!!!
This is a totally different bag than stripping, and I really need advice on how to nail the audition.
Also, I think my breast implants might be a disadvantage, because all the girls in this troupe are natural. But mine are pretty awesome and natural looking.
Any advice from girls who have done burlesque would be SO SUPER GREATLY appreciated.

Re: I'm auditioning for a burlesque show!!!
There are titty purists in bq but they pretty much hate strippers too, so you wouldn't want to hang out with them. If they are truly open-minded (and unless they have some sort of physical uniformity/Rockettes aesthetic) they shouldn't have issues with it.
Lots of personality, showmanship, good moves, let's see, make sure everything comes off like it's supposed to -- no wardrobe malfunctions, etc -- and ham it up. Just, you know, stage persona at work X 10.
Pop a pastie!

Re: I'm auditioning for a burlesque show!!!
Susan - yes, I'm scared they're purists and will hate my stripper tits. But the girls are definitely not uniform in appearance, so it could work.
I'm thinking they might just run me through a routine and see if I can pull it off and if they like me. If I have to do a routine, I'll see if I can get two assistants. I want to do a Gidget 60's surfer girl routine to the Beach Boy's "Catch A Wave" and undress behind a board.

That sounds great! I demand YouTube footage of it. With salacious sunscreen application.

I was thinking for auditioning at a bq club, but I want to go check it out first. Do you have to go to practices? If so, how many times per week? Sorry to sound naive I just have no idea how it works.
Good luck VS!

Re: I'm auditioning for a burlesque show!!!
I love your idea for a routine, its cute and I've never seen it done before. Burlesque is about the tease so the stripping behind the board is a great idea as the audience will be dying to know whats going on behind there.
I've done burlesque for a few years and now run my own burlesque company. I have implants and so does one of my business partners and we've never heard any complaints. I guess strictly speaking a burlesque dancer should be natural but with New Burlesque I think things are alot more relaxed. Look at Dita, she has implants and is doing pretty well.
Just take your time, smile, look at the audience, be cheeky if your brave enough, a wink and a cheeky smile can go a long way. Good Luck! Let us know how you get on.

Has the audition happened yet?

Re: I'm auditioning for a burlesque show!!!
I do burlesque for a living and run a burlesque school.
It depends on the show, in answer to almost any questions about working in burlesque. They all vary vastly from each other. It is absolutely true that some won't hire you if they can tell you have breast implants. But that's not the majority.

Re: I'm auditioning for a burlesque show!!!
What is the philosophy behind burlesque dancers being "natural"? Is there one, or is it just sort of how it is?

I think it's because it's trying to re-create the old school look, and OBVIOUS breast implants are out of place. I think it's a little bit of snobbery, too. Like "We're not strippers, we're dancers. Stripppers are fake and whores" Some have a holier than thou attitude. I wouldn't want to work with them if they are like that.

Re: I'm auditioning for a burlesque show!!!
I think it's because they have their heads up their asses. As if burlesque dancers wouldn't have gotten boobs jobs in a second if they'd been widely available.
I understand and appreciate a love for real boobs, having a pair myself, but to do things like calling fake boobs "self-mutilation" leads eventually down the road to the anti-porn, sex-negative attitudes these people have.

o haha i didnt see that lol

Re: I'm auditioning for a burlesque show!!!
So I had a talk with the choreographer yesterday... they are NOT interested in any "enhanced" girls. Don't even bother to audition. They're the snobby burlesque types who are offended at being called strippers. Meanwhile, a lot of the girls in the troupe have their lips done, nosejobs, etc.
Whatever. I'll go make $500 an hour in VIP being a dirty fake titty stripper.
