"so what's your real name?"
GAHHHH. I don't know what it is lately but I have had to deal with this question at least twice every night I work. It is driving me up the wall. When custies ask me my name I obviously give them my stage name but that's never good enough for them. "Well I know that's not your real name...so what is it?" If I wanted to tell you that, I would have given my real name in the first place, wouldn't I? Sometimes I get so exasperated with the question that I just tell them so they'll shut up. Then when I get home I get all pissed at myself because by giving out my real name, I also gave up my stripper persona at work. I don't want to be ME when I'm at work and giving out my real name is such an invasion of privacy to me.
I just fucking wish customers would realize that a strip club is NOT a place to pick up women. Stop asking us for our names and our personal lives and just enjoy what we're willing to give you.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
so give them a fake real name.
or tell them you charge for personal questions, but if they buy a dance, they can get one for free. and then give them a fake real name.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
I always act like my real name is some huge secret and say I don't know them well enough...unless we spend more time together. Several dances later I give them my fake real name like I am bestowing a huge honor on them and make them swear not to tell. They feel honored and often buy more dances from me.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
My stage name is Kaylin, and if they ask what my real name is I say that Kaylin is my real name, roll my eyes, and say yeah, my mom totally gave me a stripper name.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
What's funny is we HAVE to use our real names at work. Yes, I work for an ass backwards woman boss. So when guys ask me what my real name is and I tell them and they still don't believe me, now that's frustrating!

Re: "so what's your real name?"
^^ Grrr! I know. It's a stupid rule.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
This really pisses me off too. My favorite response is to cop a hurt look and pull back a little bit, and ask with my biggest puppy eyes, "Here we just met and you're already callin' me a liar?"
I like Britt's too though. That's awesome. I'm going to try it.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
I have been dealing with this too alot lately, seemingly more than usual. I dunno whats up?! Weird....
Funny cause when I tell some of them my real name, they still don't believe me. I kinda just throw my hands up at that point and am like hey, I tried. If they keep pressing, I just tell them that is my real name and I don't know what else they want from me. Whether they choose to beleive me or not is their problem.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
I tell them my real name is Princess Consuela Bananahammock...they dont ask again after that!
Or if I'm not in joking mood,my fake real name is Kelly.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
I have a fake real name too, it works really well when you wait to tell them just like strawberry_switchblade mentioned, because they feel privileged knowing your "real" name.
Kaiarose- why on earth do they make you use your real name? What is the bar's justification of that rule? I'd never feel comfortable using my real name dancing

Re: "so what's your real name?"
OMG I fucking HATE that question. Fucking HATE it!!!!!
Dude, knowing my real name is not going to allow you to know me any better. You're best bet is to just go home and dream about me you loser. Ugh! And I especially HATE when you tell them your 'name' and they give you this 'I'm one step ahead of you sweetie' look and say: "That's not your real name." Now I just say: "No shit sherlock!" Sometimes they laugh, sometimes they don't lol. :D

Re: "so what's your real name?"
My real name is Paymee...... I stopped using it because it sounded too much like Amy.... anyway, Wanna dance now?
-
Re: "so what's your real name?"
I'm just wondering but have ya'll ever been called by your fake name outside of work and not responded when bumping into someone?? Or had any mix ups like that?
-
Re: "so what's your real name?"
^ who cares? if its a regular customer i'm going to tell them my real name or at least remember enough to know that i need to respond to the name i give them. if i cant do that, thats my stupid fault. and anyone else, i'm going to ignore anyway no matter WHAT name they call me because why would i talk to them out of the club?

Re: "so what's your real name?"
To TX:
I get confused, pause and stutter over my names when I meet people outside of work lol. When I was brand new I accidently told a few customers my real name.

 Love it.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
I just tell them my stage name is my real name. It's not a very common stage name at all... so they just eat it up.

I almost did this the other day. I was getting ready to give out my fake real name and I almost said my REAL real name. Whoops! Thank goodness for beer slowing down his cognitive function!

Re: "so what's your real name?"
I say that my friends call me by my stage name, which is true. If they still dont believe me, I say my real name is Kate. It's not, of course, but they buy it. I like the idea of charging for personal questions or linking them to purchased dances.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
I. Fucking. HATE. That. Question.
I say "Scarlett is my chosen name, so it's the one we're going to use". They usually get all like 'huh?' and don't question it, lol.

How would they know if you gave a nickname or a middle name? Say, for instance, your name is Christina, couldn't you go by Chris, Chrissy, Christy, Tina, or any other variation of a full name? That seems like an easy rule to get around.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
I always say "(insert stage name here) is the only name I go by in this club"
-
Re: "so what's your real name?"
It helps sometimes if you don't make it seem like you're trying to play off your stage name as your real name. After I started saying "You can call me Lexy" Instead of "My name is Lexy," the hounding about whether it was my real name diminished pretty dramatically. If they do hound, sometimes I tell them my real name is Alexis.
