I always say my nickname is Kitty.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
When guys just *have* to know my real name I tell them it's Virginia. (I had a friend named Virginia that went by Ginger.) If they won't shut up and have to talk about my name I give them a whole back story about why my mom named me after a state that we had never been to. ::)
Stupid guys almost always believe me.

This is what I usually do too. I'd say my real name as Anne Marie. I knew a girl with that name once and she was like most innocent little Catholic schoolgirl type ever so it humored me.
I've been so tempted to say my real name is Latrine and see if anyone gets the reference.
I need to go back to dancing soon. I've thought of so many things I want to try in the past month.

"I changed my name to Latrine."
"You changed your name TO Latrine?"
"Yeah! Used to be Shithouse!"
"It's a good change! It's a good change!"

Re: "so what's your real name?"
my stage name is real-sounding enough and i still get this question. i don't understand why it's so important for them to know my "real" name. why, why, why? who cares what it is, anyway?

haha, i do that all the time! In my head I go through a list of like 4-5 names before the right one for the situation, club, event, etc. pops out. I feel like people think Im retarded and don't know my own name.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
My stage name is jessica. when they ask me what my real name is i say "jess" and laugh. they usually dont persist with it after that coz they know im being coy.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
It depends a little on the vibe I get from the customer. Sometimes I tell them Grace is my middle name. (It's not.) If the question is "Is that your real name?" sometimes I just say no, or "It's my real stage name." I usually don't get follow up questions; they just leave it at that. I think it's because I'm not making any attempt to bullshit them, so they don't have to try to "prove" that I'm lying or whatever.
Customers who insist on knowing real names are usually idiots, anyway. They want to know the "real you" and think that forcing you to give them a name is going to create intimacy. They don't buy many dances, and generally make nuisances of themselves. Wiser customers understand that there's a level of pretense in the club, and don't care what you're called.
Giving a fake name is a quick way out of the conversation, but it does let the customer feel like he's gaining something, and I don't always like to do that. I once told a customer my real name was "Lily." After that he would call me that constantly, in front of people, and always with this smug air, like he knew something no one else knew. I was really glad I never told him my real name. Not only would he have outed me in a heartbeat, but I just don't want a fucker like that calling me what my mom and boyfriend call me. No, thanks.

Ugh...I hate guys who do this.."Hey..KELLY...OOPS I mean CAMERON.." As if they are SOOO special. Dude..if I gave you my "real" name just because you asked for it within minutes of meeting me..wouldnt you think I'd give it to EVERYONE who asks????

Kaiarose- why on earth do they make you use your real name? What is the bar's justification of that rule? I'd never feel comfortable using my real name dancing
Her (the owner) reasoning is because she runs a "classy" stripclub and classy girls do not use stage names. ::) It's ridiculous but this woman is so stubborn she doesn't give a shit about privacy. (Hmmm...why do I work there again????...)

How would the owner know? She just uses the name we give her off the application. There's no if, ands or buts. The ONLY exception is if there's already a girl with your name, then you have to use your middle name or a shortened version of the name, like you suggested. It's an ignorant rule, I know. This thread is really making me think about bringing this issue to light at work. We girls do deserve our privacy at that job.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
Last night someone asked me this and I just said "I use my stage name for privacy reasons" and he said he understood and left it alone. I wish all guys were this *smart*

I know. I don't get it. They're coming in for the fantasy and the illusion of it all, right? And yet I constantly get asked for my phone number. Look, if you want to pick up chicks go to a regular bar. We're not walking around in next to nothing because we're hoping you'll ask us out.

Sometimes I'll nudge them not knock if off or give them the stink eye so they think I really care about keeping it private and then they think they are sooo special. I usually only go this far if I'm trying to establish a more personal connection with them in the hopes that they spend some money.

I know that at my club girls have to show their DL before they're hired, and the important info (real name, DL #, phone number) is copied down onto the back of the consent form (consenting to the rules & to going topless).
Anyway, back on topic. I give my real name to regulars, but not until after I'm off work (sometimes we all go downstairs & drink after we close), and only if they're people I know well enough that I trust them not to use my real name in the club.
"is that your real name?"
"of course not! lol, its my stage name"
"that's not your real name, it's your stage name, right?"
"yup! I'm not allowed to tell customers my real name."
"what's your real name? I've never known anyone named <stage name>"
"I have! I actually went to school with a girl named <stage name>."
I've never had anyone bug me about my real name. I get asked alot & those above are usually what happens. If someone really started bugging the crap out of me, I would just give them a fake real name. Alot of people at the club already know my real name because I was a regular customer there for so long before working there, but if someone new asks, I would never give my real name. I'm at work, playing a role, and so I'm <stage name> until the end of the night. Most people seem to understand this to a certain extent & don't push the issue.
I was answering Andygirl's question about why I couldn't tell the owner a different name because yes they do have to see a driver's license etc...
-
Re: "so what's your real name?"
This question is just sooooooo stoopid.
I actually don't even use my stage name anymore until I'm checking in to VIP. Otherwise, I introduce myself using a very ordinary regular name. Eliminates the redundant lame, "C'mon what's yurrr real name... har har...?", convo and establishes trust cuz they think I'm using my REAL name ::)

I told her that I always went by my middle name, and she didn't seem to question because Alicea backed me up ;) That and the fact that my middle is on my driver's liscence....
This is such a lame rule, and I normally think the owner is a smart business woman and I like her. Her, "If a customer doesn't buy you a drink, he's orobably not a gentleman " rule has bailed me out time and time again.
That said, it is such an annoying question. I used to try to straight up explain I didn't tell people, but now I tell them the truth. My real name is Katie ;D

i love it when i can go by my old stage name of jessica, when they press for my real name id just say "jess is my real name, do you think id be that lame to make up a stripper name so boring really? " lol
awww i miss being jess in the club :(

Re: "so what's your real name?"

it's funny too coz very often i introduce myself as jessica and they say "hi jess" LOL. Aussies love to shorten names. But it's a great stage name coz many do think it's a real name coz it doesn't sound like a stage name.

Re: "so what's your real name?"
Like 90% of the customers at my club ask me that, and like half of those 90% won't believe any "real" name you give them anyways, I usually just walk away by that point. What's stupid is my stage name has been the only name I've used for like 10 years but nobody believes that and I don't want ANYBODY calling me by my "legal name" which I now call it, (I'm planning on having it changed maybe). So even my "close" friends now don't even know it and no customers believe that. It's so funny. I just start giving out random fake real names then they come to me and are like, "hey so and so," or whatever and I just look at them funny and they're all like you said that was your real name, then I'm all like, "oh, I told you I never use it." lmao
