Still think they are the devil incarnate.
If they did the right thing they would have never put the lawsuit forward in the first place.
This is merely to save face.
I began to boycot this corporation a few months ago, since their business is based largely on imports.
This is actually very smart from a business perspective- to import products and export work, but unscrupulous when a company falsely represents themselves as a pro-American company while solely operating with wanton disregard as pro-capitalist one, IMHO.
This story was the last straw in my eyes.
I guess it can be considered somewhat "commendable;" then again, perhaps that may be giving too much credit. Many people were upset about this case and were also "planning" to boycott. This must have put them up against a wall, since unable to afford write-offs, businesses must turn a profit in this economy meaning they find they must appease the public opinion, so that loyal consumers do not stray.
Not to mention cracking the facade of their "apparently" pro-active FLSA and EEO hiring practices, including minorities, women, the developmentally disabled, mentally challenged, elderly and disabled, many whom are paid minimum wage in a stag-flated economy...
Not to mention that surely, they are ducking insurance on many employees, by keeping them at part-time status rendering them ineligible for benefits in some cases, for a very long period of time and in most cases, indefinitely. This affects this group of individuals the most, since a great portion of these individuals are employed part-time (about 50% for the disabled group) and also happen to be the group that would need health insurance coverage the most.
Could you imagine what a judgment in favor of their company would do to their workforce and employee morale? Although they are not provided with a union, this group has very strong public advocacy behind them.
So happy for her, that she is now able to afford the care she needs, and her husband especially, since he has been, and continues to be, so committed to her- even being her caretaker throughout his own illness. He divorced her, only so that she would be eligible for Medicaid. And of their son- Ugh!
:'( .

horrible corporation.
Luckily for me, damn near everything I'd want to buy there is at MSRP anyway, so I don't even have to bother going there most of the time.
