The DIY Progress Thread - Inspirational
Hey girls! Let's forget this drama or take our anger out on some craft projects shall we?! We can use this thread to cheer eachother's project on and ask for updates and get photos!
H-okay so, I'll start as an example.
I am making a 3 1/2' tall cat tree. I have already done a 3d mockup!
I plan to have this done by the end of the week. I'm writing up the carpet measurements now :D
M is being very helpful in this and I appreciate it.

Thinking about getting back into jewelery making but I gotta see if I can find my tools in the storage nightmare known as my garage.

I'm not quite experienced enough at it, I was never great at it to begin with..... and now I've forgotten most of what I knew! :P
I'll have to think of a big project I want to do......
maybe I'll knit something. or sew something....
I like little projects. they provide quicker gratification.

Re: The DIY Progress Thread - Inspirational
Oh I wanna make a cat tree! The biggest tallest most room filling and covered in carpet and fake mice and scratching posts cat tree in the history of the world!!
But for now, I'm buying neat little tables and stuff for my new house at thrift stores and sanding them and painting them all black. I love black and want matching furniture, so painting cheap stuff to match is an awesome way to go about it. I don't have pictures though. I can't find my camera...

I keep looking for a childsized table set. B/c that would be so adorable, and the children I sit for would love it. They're hard to find- real wooden ones for a good price.
hopefully one day soon tho.

Re: The DIY Progress Thread - Inspirational
DIY is seriously my life. All my extra time is spent making and bettering projects. If you want to produce items for sale (which I do just to share my art) there is a great site, not too sure if it's been linked or not.
I support only local artists but have a few that are in other countries that make really amazing pieces that I cannot help myself to own. You can look up city wise etc. It's amazing :)

Re: The DIY Progress Thread - Inspirational
I have an etsy! I make cards on it. But I use it mainly to buy.

Re: The DIY Progress Thread - Inspirational
{yah!} how awesome it etsy?! I go to sell and end up buying or bartering. Mostly bartering my art with other artists! After being on that site for a year, I couldn't imagine buying store jewelry or well basically anything other than the basics.
Customizing isn't just for Lillian Vernon these days

Re: The DIY Progress Thread - Inspirational
Does replacing the entire front of my car's panelling count as DIY?
If that's the case, I wish I took photos before I replaced the headlight and bonnet.
-
Re: The DIY Progress Thread - Inspirational
OKAY! I fixed the bonnet and bumper on my car.. I didn't get photos of the bonnet, but check out my work on the bumper. Only the sideguards left!!!!

Re: The DIY Progress Thread - Inspirational
Lysondra, dude, not only did you do a kickass job on the car repair but you look super hot doing it. Girl's in wife-beaters are so smokin'.
So I am thinking leather bracelets out of a belt that just broke. I love the design on it. Skulls and roses are just SO feminine and demure. Hehe. I'm sure that I could do a search online or go to Michael's and get some ideas, but does anyone have any ideas on how to fasten them? Buttons, snaps, etc?
Here are some pics of the belt I wore to death before I make it into something useful again. LoL

When I worked with leather I did this awesome thing where it tied with a pink satin ribbon and had d-rings and stuff. It looked really cool with leather.

LOLA! go to Michaels crafts, I'm sure there's one around you. they usually have lots of kids furniture type stuff made out of unfinished wood. i've seen tables, chairs, rocking horses, small toy chests, a lot! and they are really inexpensive!

Hmmm... that sounds neat. I guess I gotta go to Michael's for D rings and some super thick thread.
