Newbie Lesbian Dancer Looking for Club in NYC - Not too Fancy
Hello,
I am an artist and modern dancer that just recently moved to Brooklyn and have decided to try stripping as I just can't handle slopping eggs to one more West Village bitch.
I am very pretty, but not stick thin and I have a tattoo on my neck which I cannot conceal. I have been thinking about working in a club that is not too fancy. I don't need to make a million dollars. I would just like something flexible which I could do a couple times a week and make a living without giving guys handjobs or blowjobs in the back room. It would be best if it was a place without regular scheduling.
I am gay and pretty alternative and I would love to find a club that had queer dancers.
I would love to work in Brooklyn or Queens, or something somewhat layed-back in Manhattan (if such a place exists).
Anyone know of any places that I should check out?
Re: Newbie Lesbian Dancer Looking for Club in NYC - Not too Fancy
Most clubs have queer dancers I presume.;D
I can't tell you about scheduling, maybe another on here can. Maybe you can try Lace, Flashdancers in the city. There is also Private Eyes but I can't speak for the $$ you will make in there. If you do a search you can find more info.
Queens: Gallager 2000, Riviera, Wiggles, Rouge, Goldfingers (although I don't know how it is doing these days).
You may want to cross Brooklyn off the list- but you can try Pumps, it seems to be the most popular and you won't get any static about your tattoos. Playpen I know nothing about other than it is near an industrial area.
You can also try go-go dancing at the les clubs, but that may give you more personal satisfaction than financial!:P :D
Pick up Xtreme magazine to see ads for most clubs. Sometimes they 'claim' no house fee...although that may change by the time you go to inquire about it!
Re: Newbie Lesbian Dancer Looking for Club in NYC - Not too Fancy
Wellllll... the key word being "alternative".... I would happily suggest the Pussycat Lounge in lower Manhattan.
The girls have tats, the music is rock, and they put on fetishy (and lesbianesque) stage shows sometimes.
There are lap dances (on stools along the wall in the main room and on couches in the upstairs area) but no VIP as far as I know.
It's a great laid back club.

Re: Newbie Lesbian Dancer Looking for Club in NYC - Not too Fancy
Good Luck
I have never been 2 NYC, but I have always wanted to go to their pride parade and have a few friends there to visit so if you find this club w/ lesbian strippers let me know becuz down here in mia I'm 1 of 3 girls I know who are lesbian strippers (among many many bisexuals). Now lauderdale I know a few more, but I still think I'm the only butch dyke I know field and I do have to say I get great perks, but yeah gogo dancing and drag was way more fun for me and giving up my weekendnites (when I make good money and also when most lesbian events are here) bites cuz I'm always entertaining str8men (instead of myself and other women like I rather)and while I do have my bigirl/flings always up in the club, but it's like another world where I rarely get to meet other lesbians or those who even get it in there while I do get alot of flack from those in the community for dancing--but whatever great shedule great pay and I can't complain about the beautiful bi women and strippers around me.
Dealing w/ all the pervy guys--well not so much fun, but in many I can relate and I always set my limits. it's just a show/job in the way I think of it then I go home and get to be bummy what the fck r u looking at me again.
Re: Newbie Lesbian Dancer Looking for Club in NYC - Not too Fancy
go go dancing in the les is craaaaap.
Pussycat lounge looks fun - I wanna try it...it's myspace makes it look not like a strip club though?

Unless it changed things up... it was def. a strip club last spring when I stopped by for a visit. The girls with really pretty with an edge. Gave great dances too. Shy from Bella Vendetta was dancing there when I went... (she has tattoos like a cheetah) http://bellavendetta.com/v2/model_pr...d=12&picture=4
I really hope things are still the same, but I haven't been in the financial district in aaaaaaaages so I don't have up to the minute info.
Check it out and report back, if you can. I liked that club a lot.

Do you mean money wise? I haven't done it but I was guessing that it was. Just last week I was at the gay club and one longtime performer was on stage and the money was falling like drizzle! And she made the most out of any that I had ever seen. Unless she just so happened to make alot more through the course of the night, if I was her I'd be pissed. She was on the club flyer and everything so people knew she would be there.
I guess working that circuit is more a labor of love or a way to get beaucoup phone numbers. I know that is why I would do it.}:D
Re: Newbie Lesbian Dancer Looking for Club in NYC - Not too Fancy
I too am very curious about the climate in pussycat. I've never been there, not even to see a rock show yet. Sophia, you said they do dances--I wonder, are they pretty standard? Can a girl really make money there or is it more kind of a novelty that the place is a strip club? I can't seem to find very much info about it at all.
I ask because I am returning to dancing tonight after an *8 year* hiatus. I'm looking for something laid-back and I don't know if the place I am working is laid-back yet. Plus I'm rather tatted. It's gonna be weeeeird. Don't know if I can hack it or not...Oh, long shift and forgot how to walk in my damn heels. Let hope I don't break my ankle!

lmao! :D My boy works in wv too and completely concurred when i read this to him...rock on, girl! How do you like those little baby strollers everywhere too??
Re: Newbie Lesbian Dancer Looking for Club in NYC - Not too Fancy
OH MY GOD the strollers. Though they are not exactly "little". People seem to think, for some reason, that status is incurred by the size of their strollers. I can't stomach that garbage any more.
How did it go, Chatte? Where are you dancing?
Thanks for all the responses. I am going to look in to the Pussycat Lounge. Sounds like it could be fun.
And I know all about lezzie generosity. It's ok though. Ladies tend not to make as much money and tend not to need to buy sex. I am not expecting to make money dancing for lesbians (unfortunately, as that would be AMAZING), but was hoping for a somewhat queer climate amongst the dancers.

Oh dear. Ody and I went there once with his cuz on a Friday. They may have a great lunch hour or something, but weekend/nights are NOT GOOD. There were very few people in there and they weren't really tipping. Plus the girls were none too awesome looking and they just sort of swayed in front of the mirror. Maybe it was an off night, but since it is in the heart of the business district and has a full bar I would think that the Pussy Cat Lounge has GREAT lunch business. Just a suggestion.

What are you talking about ?? Do you have any clue??
Aleast here if they work for aqua girl/pandra they don't get paid soley on tips they make a nice per event wage for less then 4 hours work of being there and about 4 sets of 15mins in that time make from 150-500+ sometimes even % off the door if there is a specail show granteed plus they are dressed, get on the fylers, free hotel/ trip/perks/bartab/geust list if it's part of the event, and get tipped much more then the adverage dancer does on stage. That's not a grand a nite, but it's only 2-4hrs of thier time. Only thing is they have to have a body(I'm talking cut like Wonder Woman or just banging like Betty Paige general 2 make the higher wage) FYI those are our nicknames for those girls becuz they have simular builds and they have to actaully know how to dance ...It's like the gogo dancers for gaymen who make even more, but you know they have to be top of the line.
The only reason I don't do it here is becuz I don't want to have to work events I want to go have fun at (my oldfling works there and there is bad blood + drama) & I'm not sure they actaully hired any lesbians for these events(becuz they don't want them mingling vs working). That and I was considered trouble and had an issue w/them when I was a dragking.
Still those girls are hella hott and the top 1's get paid much simular dollar per hr to many of us without any contact, nuditly, and the get perks soo how is that craaaap??

Yeah skip the night shifts, probably weekends too, Pussycat Lounge in the financial district and the financial district is deserted at these times. A few of my buddies' bands have played there (upstairs is a venue). The downstairs was not cool. Lunch might be bank though with all the businessmen around.
This place is so old, I remember walking by it when I was like ten years old with my daddy when I visited him at work which was down the street. I was always so curious! Kind of a let down when I was there last year.

I don't know what its like in Miami. I've never been there. Maybe the gay perfomance show/sex show culture is better out there. In PDX it can range from unbearable/no pay gigs to moderately decent/fun from my experience in gay clubs and what I've heard from gay women talking about strippers. I've listened to groups of lesbians talk openly about how they have no problem out-right refusing to tip dancers and expecting attention regardless. I've heard dancers, gay and straight, gush about thier favorite lez custiest who drop at least $100 every time and are adorable. My experience has been mostly negative but I literally treat women the same as men. When she refuses to pay me, I walk away and she gets burned.
Anyway, gay women exclusively are NOT my target audience. Performers who can make a killing off of them (at least in my hometown) are sort of like feature dancers to me. They cultivate a following in the local scene (as it seems you have with your drag experience) and know the connections to get publicity for thier shows. Its just not the same as being the house girl at a club and dancing 3-5 nights a week as a sustainable job.
It sounds like the OP is fully aware of this dynamc though. She shouldn't have a problem.

I agree about female customers at a strip club 4 the most part and I have yet heard of stripping for lesbians as I assume there isn't the money in it for that reason, but I was talking gogo dancing for lesbian niteclubs/events in big cities like NYC as here in Miami a few girl are house girl that travel and plan thier lives around dancing for lesbian events while doing gogo or personal training ect during thier free time as they do make good money per hour dancing for those events---however some fetish and feature dancers ofcourse make more, but many gogo dancers in or out of lesbian clubs can and do make what the adverage stripper makes just it's more of a weekend type gig however I think it's a great option for those who can and enjoy it not total craap and that's all I was saying.
I tend to treat all paying good customers the same male/female unless I think she's hott then ofcourse she'll get the xtra specail treatment from me, but that's ussaully not the case and if it is that no1 would blame me.

Haha. I meant to put "little" in quotes. More like triple-wide hummers. Oh honey, I live in Park Slope, the neighborhood that has single-handedly given the slur "breeder" a whole new meaning. Yik. >:(
I just re-retired after two shifts, so I probably can't help at this point but PM me if you are interested in chatting more..
Did you wind up visiting pussycat?
