Re: You shouldn't be here!
I've never said it. It's stoopid.
I don't think it's a case of guys using it as a line to not buy dances from you because they're probably buying dances from other girls later. I think it's just the guy being dense and you probably do not fit into the mold of the type of stripper he planned on getting dances from. Think of it as a guy who has a craving for a burger and goes to a restaurant for one. Subsequently, the special of the day is prime rib. Even though he likes prime rib, he came to get a burger and thus he turns down the prime rib for the burger.
Re: You shouldn't be here!
Probably the same reason guys do a lot of what they do... there is a chance, however slim, that (through a certain line of reasoning explained below) you will have sex with them in gratitude.
As for the reasoning...
I'm sure you have heard the phrase captain save-a-ho.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/defin...tain+save+a+Ho
E-40 the rap artist coined the phrase captain save a ho.
Where a guy will take care of a goldigger. pay for everything. pay for goldie to get her nails done, hair done, get a cellular hooked up. the guy will be a sucker for the girl and take care of paying for her kids. He will come to the girls rescue like a superhero in attempt to get some play. Dine her and she will take advantage of him. he would actually say I will save a ho baby I am here for you.
Make captain save a ho take care of your kids. make your kids his. it is all part of that take care of me like a superhero with an S on the chest, When I call on the cellular you hooked up, come and save me.
This is the cheaper version of the same mentality. These guys are implying they can "save" you from your life as a stripper.
So are you feeling grateful??? ;)

So I was wondering from the guys/customers have you said this and why?
Never said this. With rare exception, I've always been quite grateful to have a dancer in my lap and I've never been afflicted with White Knight syndrome. The reason it should bother dancers is because it conveys a deep, if unintentional, lack of respect for what she's chosen to do professionally (acknowledging, of course, that there are a great many dancers who should not be dancing for a great many reasons).
Re: You shouldn't be here!
What X said, it's the lamest possible way of complimenting a girl in the hopes that she will think you see her as more than a stripper and sleep with you. It never works.
It is usually followed up with the ever-lame "If you were my girlfriend I would never let you do this" which is then followed up by a request to go to lunch with him...

I've never said that. I appreciate a pretty girl getting naked and lapdancing for me.
The other guys have pretty fully explained the motivations behind that comment I think. A witty, flirty reply may still get you a dance or two. If not, move on with no further thoughts about it. imo.
Re: You shouldn't be here!
I think a lot of guys who don't really know many dancers or haven't spent much time in a SC buy into the stereotype that girls who dance have a laundry list of problems, more so than the non-dancer. Therefore, they don't expect them to be as "normal" as most of them in fact are. I was probably guilty of this when I first set foot in a club many years ago. I probably made similar comments when I was a newbie, but now I know better.
Re: You shouldn't be here!
Never said it and never heard it said. Could speculate that the guy thought all strippers were ugly street hookers, in-bred kissing cousins, or some other negative stereotype and you appear to them not to be that. That and it shows they haven't been to stripclubs much and/or only frequent dives.
Re: You shouldn't be here!
Jenny, you're so pretty! You shouldn't be here in blue. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/images/smilies/joke.gif

Why yes it is, and yet despite that... guy after guy tries it over and over with girl after girl. Who knows. Maybe somewhere in history it worked once? Or not...
Re: You shouldn't be here!
The proper way to use this line is: "You shouldn't be here, you should be at my hotel room working for my money"

Never worked for me....but I'll keep trying...:)
Re: You shouldn't be here!
Never said it and never would have thought of it.
I'd be glad to have someone "too pretty" in my lap grinding away. }:D
Re: You shouldn't be here!
A long time ago when I was young and stupid, as opposed to being older and stupid now, I uttered that to a stripper. It was a lame compliment mainly meant to say "You are the hottest woman here, by far". She just told me she'd rather be the big fish in a small pond.
Re: You shouldn't be here!
I've never said that...I heard one of my friends say it a couple months back and he got a death stare from me and the others for using the stupidest fuking pickup line out...
Re: You shouldn't be here!
It means they are not buying dances from you. Next.

Re: You shouldn't be here!
When I was young and stupid, back in the foggy past before lapdances, I saw a dancer at Billy's Topless in Manhattan who could freakin' DANCE. When I tipped her I told her I would pay to watch her dance with her clothes on. She obviously thought it was CS, but I meant it.
So, the other day I was talking to a dancer, who has ballet and ballroom training and who teaches at Arthur Murray. I told her that story and she totally got it. Of course this dancer ("Aja" from my last TR) also laughs at all my jokes, maybe she's just agreeable.
Re: You shouldn't be here!
I've never said that or thought it even.
But I did ask if she enjoyed that working club because she was far and away the prettiest gal there (probably ever there) and I thought maybe she wasn't aware of the better clubs in the area. Another time or two I asked if she had considered professional modeling or had ever been asked to do a screen test because she was just simply stunning. One said she was a bit short and the other said she had done modeling but didn't want to move for work. None were insulted. Then I finally realized that I have to assume the dancers in general are where they fit in best and stopped asking.

Yup! And after said dancer politely declines the lunch or dinner request the custy closes the exchange with a slew of insults to the dancer about her looks and personal ethics.

In case any of you are planning such a show - tormenting strippers isn't funny. They may look gentle but they can turn on you at any moment.

But this is an exceptional comeback. This is what hanging out on blue has given you. Yes, it's true you have lost all innocence and naivete when it comes to men...and that is kinda sorta sad, but you now get to say these cool things at the drop of a hat.
Will hanging out on the pink side give me that same jadedness?

This is unlikely. But spending a lot of time on pink will leave you smelling like a mixture of fruity body sprays.

I can think of lots of worse things to smell like.
eta: Stat and Criz almost have me convinced I should get some lush bath bombs and really start smelling good.
