I should go to work but I don't want to.
Ugh, I hate having to force myself to go to work. I only worked two days last week, but I made really good money so I took off.
I'm a sustenance stripper! OMG! I'm one of THOSE girls.
I just want to stay at home with my boyfriend and dog.
I keep telling myself "I'll work Tues-Fri. For real." But I'll probably crap out and work Tues-Thurs. I'm fucking lazy. My club's shifts are 8 hours, so I guess trying to force myself to work Mon-Fri (40 hours of stripping a week) is unrealistic. I guess I should start working up to that again.
I keep finding reasons not to go in. Mondays suck anyways. It's the last week of the month, tons of girls will be working. 40 hours a week is too much. My limit is four days a week, so Tues-Fri is better than Mon-Thurs. I'm tired. My pedicure is chipped. I'm bloated. Et cetera.
I know I wouldn't be this lazy at a normal job or in school. Stripping is such easy money that it reinforces my lazy work ethic. Ugh, maybe this is my signal that I'm reaching the end of my tolerance for stripping and need to start seeking income and fulfillment elsewhere.
Tues-Fri it is!
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
I am exactly the same way.
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
Ugh, I totally hate to admit this, but I am completely the same way. I have been ever since I started dancing. I don't think I have EVER worked 5 days a week at a stripclub.
My only advice to you is: look back on the years you have spent stripping. Looking back on it, do you feel as if you should've worked more? Do you think you would've accomplished more in life if you would've worked more days? If yes, then maybe that can be enough motivation for you to start working 4-5 days a week. If no, then why worry about it? If you are happy with the way things have turned out in your life, then why work more, especially if it makes you unhappy? Not everyone can or should be a superstripper, although I do admire those that are, such as Britneyireland, bridgette, etc.
As for me, I DO feel like I could've accomplishes a LOT more if I would've chosen to dance 4-5 days a week instead of my usual 2. I have a lot of regrets. I'm not going to dwell on it though. I'm taking 6 months off from school now so that I can really focus on working more and saving more money. I sat down and wrote down exactly WHY I want to work more, my goals, and how much money I will need to accomplish each goal. It helps to do that.
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
I find setting a reasonable but firm schedule is really helpful. Right now, with everything I'm doing, I can only work Wed, Fri, and Sun. But if it's one of those nights, then I go. If I don't do this, then I get to a certain point in the day where I need to start thinking about going to work, and I ask myself if I feel like it, and the answer is always no. I'm never, ever going to feel psyched out of my mind to work. So I just make it a no-brainer routine, so I never have to wonder whether to go or not.
I've also found that I often do really well on the days when I don't want to work. Dunno why that is. Maybe because I don't want to be there in the first place, I'm really focussed on just getting the job done, and this oddly makes me a better hustler. I don't feel like fucking around and relaxing and taking breaks. I just feel like making a shit-ton of money and going home. :)
If I ever need extra motivation to get out of the house, I invent excuses, like errands that I need to run. Once I'm out of the comfort of my nest, going to the club is no problem. Or I'll stop on the way and let myself get a sugary coffee drink. No work=no Triple Chocolate Caramel Vanilla Mocha for me.
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
In my opinion, working regularly two days a week is not really sustenance stripping. I've done worse. :)
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
ehh dont beat yourself up. if you went in not wanting to it would be a waste anyway.
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
Does your club do scheduling at all? If you have the option to turn in a schedule, fill it out for the number of days you know you should be working. Then you're accountable to someone besides yourself and you have to go in...or pay fines and have management on your back for missing shifts.
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
I'm a sustenance stripper too. Sometimes I just tell myself to take the day off to recharge, which isn't always a bad thing to do.
BUT...
this thread is inspiring me to not be a sustenance stripper anymore...maybe if I just worked 1 extra day a week and socked whatever I make into a savings account, then I'd be in better shape.
You know how we have the SW workout challenge? Myabe we should have a SW SAVINGS challenge...
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
^^ Then again I wouldn't want to post my savings on a public internet forum LOL!

We have schedules, but no one gets in trouble for missing once you're no longer a "new girl".
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
I get like that whenever i need to switch clubs, sometimes the same atmosphere makes me hate everything. Maybe switch clubs? Take a working vacation?
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
I am the TOTAL opposite of a sustenance stripper. I am trying to think of tricks. All I can comeup with is that before dancing i always went to work at least 5 days a week or three with school. After dancing i will go to work 5 days a week. All my friends work 5 days a week at their jobs. Why would I strip just to get by when it causes me to lie to my family and strain some friendships and make it difficult for me to find a boyfriend?
Then again, I do not work 8 hours per shift! I work 4-5 hours 5x per week.
I want to add that last week i had to make an emergency return to maryland for a funeral. I missed three shifts that I would have normally worked. I work so much anyway that i will still make my goal for the month.

Good for you Shasta!!! That is really inspiring.
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
Ugh me too. Especially since bf will get home from work right about the same time that I'll be leaving :( I'm tempted to suck up the no show fee. I wanna cuddle and get laaaaid lol.
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
^ same here! I'm tempted to work DAYS so I can be home at night with the BF.
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
May I make a suggestion? How about psyching yourself out by making yourself think you have less money than you really do?
For example, I have one BIG savings goal in mind right now. It's not a LOT for some girls, but it is a really big step for me. I'm saving money to go to Dallas this summer. I know that my motel for the first week is going to be roughly $300-$400, and my gas to get down there and back is going to be about $200, so I need to save a minimum of $600 in order to be able to travel there safely. Therefore, I've set my goal for $1,000 that I have to set aside no later than June 1st, so that I can have a little extra breathing room and maybe even stay at a little bit nicer motel!
So, for example, here's a sample workweek for me, and how it's distributed:
Monday: $150; $50 to Dallas fund (in lockbox), $50 to bank (deposited in night deposit before I go home), $50 in cash (groceries, spending money, etc.)
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: $300 (Thursdays are good nights); $200 to Dallas fund, $50 to bank, $50 in cash
Friday: $200; $100 to Dallas fund, $100 to bank
Saturday: $250; $100 to Dallas fund, $100 to bank, $50 to cash
Sunday: Club is closed
So using this week, by the end of the week, I would've worked 4 days. I would've used $150 in cash; that's the money I actually see and pay attention to. I don't touch my bank account until it's time to pay bills, and I don't touch the Dallas lockbox until I leave for Dallas, so the only money I actually have to SPEND is the $150 I kept out in cash. It makes me feel like I don't have as much money, so I spend less and work more. Also, I'll add $450 to my Dallas fund, and $300 to the bank.
For me, that's the only way I can do it. If I keep my money in cash until I have to pay a bill, I'll blow through my money, and I won't go to work because, "I still have plenty left. I can wait another day." But in order for it to work (for me, at least), I have to leave the club and go STRAIGHT to my bank (which is located inside Wal-Mart) to make my deposit. Then I have to go ahead and do my grocery shopping (so I don't accidentally mis-spend my grocery money) and pick up the necessities, and then go STRAIGHT home and immediately put my Dallas fund money into the lockbox. If you really doubt your self-control, you can even do what I did: I gave my only lockbox keys to my fiance. It makes it less accessible to me (and I trust my fiance).
Re: I should go to work but I don't want to.
I really like Morgan's suggestions.
Last week I did something similiar to what she suggested. I sat down with my weekly planner in front of me and marked the days that I wanted to work that week. Next to each day I also wrote down the amount of money that I expected to make along with what I was planning on doing with that money. For example:
Thursday - $350
$200 for bills
$100 savings
$50 fun money
Doing that at the beginning of the week really seemed to help motivate me.

I'm going to start doing this after my day(s) off so I have time to adjust my sleep schedule. I'd be able to relax the rest of the evening instead of going straight to bed. I figure if it's dead I can always stay a couple hours late to try to make up for it. Besides, while days tend to be a bit less money overall it's better money PER customer. Meaning that's when the lonely old rich men come in instead of broke jackasses :-*
