I'm loving the fact that before you took a photo of it you put a penny beside it.

LOL..
I'm actually impressed that you put it on your skin to take the picture. Weren't you afraid of getting bit?
-
Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
I had to! I have never seen one so big and if I said "it's the size of a penny" people would be like "ok yeah right" I would be like "oh come on tick that big?" but it was! it's in my vacuum now, won't get out right?

now what do I do about this? I check him? but he's got the medication, must of just grabbed on to his fur or something, oh man!

Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
Yeah, it's all engorged with blood. I worked at a summer camp in Florida for a few years and we would sometimes find them on tortoises in the space between their neck and forelegs. The things would be like the size of a big grape and if you tried too hard to pull them off they'd pop. Yick. Check your dog for more!
-
Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
Oh I was afraid someone would say I had to, and eww they get bigger? where the hell do they store all that blood? Oh God ewww.
-
Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
Now I have the heeby jeebies!!
Make sure you check your fur baby out. You wouldn't want these biting your kids. And don't you have other animals too or are you done fostering?
-
Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
I just started and he had one in his ear!! ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
\
someone come over and do this!!!!
-
Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
Oh honey, I feel for ya! If I wasn't sick, I'd take the ride down!
BTW, you might need to address the situation in your yard too. You know how bad it gets in this freaking state.

Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
Shiiiit I have the heeby jeebies

Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
I'll come over..LOL
I had to do it ALL the time at the vets. You can use tweezers.
I don't rec'd using the vacuum, they can get out. Flush em down the toilet.
Also, check everywhere. It doesn't look like a deer tick so you should be OK with the lymes threat.
Also..check all over, just because you use medication doesn't mean they don't attach. They don't attach for long and that's not even 100percent proven. Also, if they leave your dog and your cats aren't protected they may be hiding out on them too.
Check everyone..including yourself, kids and hubby.
Those things are NASTY!

Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
Oh :barf: ok found 2, and I searched all over, way all over, I think my dog liked it a wee bit much, eww lol
Well my yard is fenced in, in the back and we have ground hogs, and I have seen 2 cats that are gorgeous btw that seem to be meeting in my yard, plus birds and skunks but no deer, they can't get back there but I sent an email to my husband, I feel itchy now and I have nothing on me.
-
Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
Ah I have to open the vacuum?
I checked the kids, they are ok, but I foster the cats and they don't have anything on them, great I am so telling the shelter we need to speak about meds for them. I don't put any on my cat cause she's indoor and the dog well I do put the med on, so does my mom to her dog, so I believe it was on another creature and my dog dragged it in. The other 2 were dead.
-
Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
If your dog goes outside you may want to put the meds on your indoor kitty - just as a precaution - because if the dog had 2 she could have brought them in and then they get on kitty and ewwwww GROSS. Im really feel for you....

Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
Crap, and I thought the ones on my dog were big, but they don't compare to that one.
-
Re: Ew, ewww EW!!!! Tick!
If you have one of those wind tunnel types vacs, I'd open it up and dump it in an outdoor garbage. If you have a bag I'd throw it out and get a new one. Run the vacuum first to make sure the tick isn't crawling back out.
