Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
So... about one million years too late my friend and I are talking about selling/making outfits, lingerie, and bathing suits- eventually leading up to ebay, a website, and potential store after we expand.
So- I really would like EVERYONES opinion on what kind of outfit they absolutely love.
what's an outfit that you could wear for years? could never get rid of?
-your money maker?
I only have my opinion to go on and I like designing things but want to know the general consensus on this before I invest any further
Gracias ladies :)

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
When I danced (not too long ago), I was such a fan of just cutsey lil bikini tops, tiny thong and matching fluttery short skirt (could be pleated).
Bright colors and wild, but not ugly patterns...things to catch someone's eye in the blacklight.

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
I would LOVE a company that had petite or short sizes. Outfits that are supposed to me sexy and short (especially dresses) are often as long as a regular old dress on me. Where the hips are supposed to go are near my thighs and they generally don't look right even with hemming. I'd like to be able to buy just off the rack stuff more often besides just thongs and tops. I like having my stuff fit perfectly. This might be too small of a niche to make a good profit on though.

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
after the thread about that dance company made me think- why CANT we buy in bulk like that? I'd like a company that allows that- custom made orders and outfits, quality and quantity. Its all in the preliminary stages right now but there's only about one store where I live/work and it's VERY expensive.
there are Many many clubs around here and dont think lingerie/novelty store would fail but i really need all the help I can get

Dresses and skirts are my favorites... and the more measurements you could post on there, the better!

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
If you make thongs and gstrings as well the more variety of cuts you have the better. I've heard countless people asking about thongs that come up a bit higher but aren't 80s style ridiculous to cover either c-section scars or to cover big kitties. I'm the opposite in that I like mine ridiculously low but wider than most in the front so I don't fall out the sides. I hate ones that pooch out a bit in the front too. I like them to lay very flat. I will drive 50 miles to this one store just to buy their perfectly cut thongs.

My two cents - I like less traditional more "fashiony" stripperwear. Like:
(3/20 in the dancewear section is my MONEYMAKER).

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
I can't say enough about long dresses, slit in the center to thigh length with a fluttery mermaid-shaped skirt and sparkley accents.
The real trick is to use fabric that is durable, won't snag on every fucking thing and has the ability to both streeeeetch and stay tight to the body.

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
I hoard halter tops that connect in the middle between the boobs like the BodyZone Shakira top
NO sliding triangle tops, has to be connected to each other in the middle. Also NO banded bottom, that smushes the boobs and makes them look smaller.
There is no better top for small tittays!
So if you made tops like that I would buy them in all colors.

Woah, I love that stuff! Do you know any websites or stores that sell that line, Cherry?

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
+1 on sparkly things that that won't snag. But glitter is bad news bears on clothes! If you could make gowns that are easy to get in/out of, are durable over long periods of time (stupid Scala...), and are cut for curves, I'd pay chedda!
I prefer lingerie: short dresses/nighties, lacy, soft but durable fabric, classic and classy. VS falls apart after a while, and FOH is kinda weird looking sometimes.
In your catalog/listing/whatevs, it would be awesome if you could group outfits or styles by what flatters what kind of body type or show models with different body types so it's not such a shocker when you see it on yourself.

YES! I'd love to see models with different body types, not just skinny/waistless and plus size. Maybe even more than one size?
+1 for shrimpy clothes, especially long dresses. Hemming it does NOT fix it.
Also-if you add rhinestones, please make sure they aren't the kind withthe backing that will snag out stockings/g string or cut our skin!

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
^^^ It might be a cool idea to have alternate views of tops with both girls that have large boobs and girls that have small boobs. I'm a B cup and always more inclined to buy tops online when the model is smaller and I can see that the top won't look ridiculous on me. Its just easier for me to imagine wearing it when I can see how it would drape on someone my size better.

Hear hear!
I wear lace tangas because I can't find anythng like this. The skinny sides on most underwear make it look like i have HUGE rolls, something wider and stretchy like lace makes it look like a seamless toned curve. But wider in front, very low, and VERY flat. I wish i could find that!
And again on the featuring different builds of models thing... I can't say how much that would help. If you need a curvy girl let me know, measurements 32A/B 25 35 here and the waist on things NEVER works right. If its too low, it makes me way TOO pear shaped, if its too hi, it doesnt sit right with the stretch, and won't go over the hips nicely when i take it off.
Also, I'd LOVE ot see more dancewear with decorative detailing. Everyone ALWAYS asks wear i got my favorite 2 piece outfit, because it has dangly sequined tassels. Retro and burlesque themes go over VERY well, though i know it adds a bit to the cost for the trimming. I don't like the stereotypical "rhinestone buckle" "rhinestone stripper silhouette" "rhinestone flower" that is the extent of dancewear detail. Textures, tassels, lace, etc.
Also I'd work at getting a few PERFECT patterns for booty shorts, preferably with something decorative or lacy, but MAKE IT OPAQUE. You can market those to pole competitions, or pole studios. When i do a lot of polework, I need to have exposed midriff, side, and cheek, to get the best traction for my tricks. If i wear a 2 piece skirt, the skirt slides up, and gets all wonky and doesnt look very good. And from what i've seen, the "poledancing is a SPORT" competitions have policies for costumes. COmmon ones are "No thongs. No removal of clothing items. No see through clothing, or nudity". Something like this might have a better niche than just "dancewear". Broader audience.
Kudos to you-I've been wanting to design dancewear for quite a while, so i hope it works out for you!

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
Just dont do one size fits all stuff, that stuff really sucks and never fits smaller petite people.
I usually wear a bikini top and either a long or short skirt. I also love pants!!!!

Re: Starting a dance wear "company" NEED YOUR OPINIONS
If you are looking for distribution, PM me. My friend runs PinUpPussyCat.com and would be able to sell online. She also goes into the clubs in her area to sell in person. Maybe with distribution you can push more product than you can sell yourselves... a good way to get off the ground with this venture.
Best of Luck!

OOOH, and purple! Purpley purpley purple. There are not enough dancer outfits in any shade of it. Especially lavender.
