Renting and Dancing
I am going to start dancing soon and we're looking to move in September into a nicer place... how does me dancing affect being able to find a place to rent?
Mind you my husband is a professional fighter and we're planning to have him quit his job to train full time... should we wait to do that until after we've secured a home or should we just do it now and hope someone will rent to us based on my dancing income?

Re: Renting and Dancing
It can be done! ;)
Will your manager or owner write a letter stating that you're an independent contractor and how much you make on average? Both my current and former managers did this for me when I was apartment-hunting.
You'll probably have better luck renting from a private landlord rather than dealing with apartment-complex management companies. You might be able to work out a deal with a private landlord, i.e. paying the first three months' rent up front (if you can). Individuals, IMHO, are more likely to work with you than big apartment-complex staff are.
If you're planning on moving soon anyway, though...might as well use your husband's income and have him quit his day job after you've got the place. The easier the better.
Good luck ;)

Re: Renting and Dancing
I had a hell of a time finding a place to rent that didn't care about proof of income, but I finally did. He is a private owner, and he doesn't give two shits where my money comes from.
You will probably not be able to rent from a company unless you pay at least 6 months up front.

ORRRR get a regular to lie and say you work for him.
My sugar daddy has a law firm, and I'm his "secretary" that makes 75k a year.

Re: Renting and Dancing
Say you are self employed and make something up . Landlords care about whether you can pay the deposit, pay rent, and take care of the place. Most would probably be fine with you dancing, but what if you find the perfect place and they aren't find with it ?
