Do clubs in your area 'compete'? Cloak & dagger BS
I know things are way different in different regions so I'm curious. There's a new club in Philly (new opening of an old club) and the other clubs are seriously hysterical. They send spies to the other clubs to make sure none of their girls are working there. If you work at another club, you're fired. Managers spy on certain online stripper sites *cough*. I don't know if this town is too small or what, but it's just stupid!
Is this the way it goes in lots of places?

In my town, EVERYBODY knows everybody else. The stripclub circuit is VERY small. And one club has a "non-compete" clause. If you work there and then quit working there to work at ANY other club in town, they will NEVER re-hire you. That's about the extent of it, though.

That is so unbelievably strange to me.... I mean, wouldn't you want to encourage girls to work several places, just for the "new face" factor? Perhaps they're worried that all the girls will drift to whatever place is greenest at the time? I really wonder what the reasoning behind this is.

From the manager of the evil place: "You go dance for them. You're helping out our competition. Don't bother coming back here. You help our competition; we aren't helping you."

^^ Wow... only in the stripclub industry... I guess I can almost understand a non-compete agreement while you're AT the club (i.e. can't be under contract at two places at once) but if you quit and THEN go work for another club?
You're not under contract with them, you have no ties to them, how on earth do they justify that? And really- if they're so hard up that they have to resort to scare tactics to keep dancers, why are they paying to send spies to other clubs? *shakes head*
Whew... I really shouldn't think about it too hard, and just concentrate on drinking my beer so I don't break my brain, huh?
Re: Do clubs in your area 'compete'? Cloak & dagger BS
^^^What sucks is that if you do so much as ONE NIGHT for the "competition", the dickhead club will fire you and never let you come back. It was a problem at times... Someone would open up a new club and a few of the dancers from Dickhead Club (D.C.) would go work a few nights at new club just to help out the owner who was one of their friends, then go back to work at D.C. thinking it was cool, only to find out they weren't allowed to dance at D.C. anymore.
And it sucks, because you can't "try out" new clubs... Do so much as ONE stage for another club, and D.C. won't let you back. Ever.

That's BS like whoadang.... How do they even keep girls? Sorry to keep asking incredulous questions, but that's boggling to me... It just strikes me as horrid business practice.

only thing I know of in LA is if youre at 7th veil, you cant work star strip because they're the same company. You are allowed to switch between but its an ordeal. I wouldnt want to work under a non compete clause. I usually have 2-3 clubs I rotate between at per week, depending what nights are best. Im settled at one for now, but Im usually club hopping a few times weekly.
Re: Do clubs in your area 'compete'? Cloak & dagger BS
Every club I've worked at in my town sends out spies, too! Seriously. If you get caught working for another club they'll fire you.
Re: Do clubs in your area 'compete'? Cloak & dagger BS
They do it in Chicago as well. I know their "spies" are just regulars, as one slipped up and told me. Funny thing is he's a cop too, so some of these places (they are in the outskirts) he stops by on patrol.
Re: Do clubs in your area 'compete'? Cloak & dagger BS
You can only work at one club in the city around here. But you can work at clubs at neighbouring cities. They don't send out spies or anything, but word usually gets around. I don't think anyones ever been fired for it - they usually just tell you to pick which club you work at and stay there. Apparently the reasoning behind it is they don't want you to take one clubs regulars to another. Which is understandable I guess.
If you left one club to work at another 99% of the time they would hire you back and act as if you never left though.

Not that its that far from Philly, but Hak's in Wilmington, DE used to do that same stupid non-compete clause shit, when Fantasia was open across the street.

Ye gods-it's like it's so personal to them, when you know they'd throw you under the bus at any moment. I mean, we PAY them to work there. I can't go back to my former club now, since I got 'caught' at a promo for new club. :-\ I hope this new one works out!
