Anyone know an accurate source of where I can find out Phillipine wages?
Recent Info. Divided by Industry hopefully.
Anyone from there that can give me a perspective on how much things cost ? What average wages are ? What average wages for white collar jobs ( college grads ) ?
Pm me if you don't want to post.
If SW can help with this one, this site is really a miracle. I have searched online, but don't seem to find anything paralell to the U.S department of labor stats.

I never worked there but I think it depends on where you are.
$1USD = 42.21 PHP (Philippine Peso's) and a beer would cost you about 30 peso's. Living expenses are cheap by western standards but more expensive than Thailand and very very basic (Don't expect your toilet to have a flush).
The average wage is quite low (I think about 325P a week) and most people I met work 2 or even 3 jobs. The wages are similar in say retail and agriculture. (Search minimum wage Manila) Food and rent is cheaper out on the islands but manila is flooded with people looking for work. The education system is very good. And they are huge on filipino overseas workers, they are seen as hero's and have their own turnstile at the airport. I'm not sure what else you need to know that I can give you. Hope that helps.

I have been told that semi-skilled manufacturing jobs in a plant in Cebu which is a division of an American corporation average 600-700 pesos per week = US$150-$170. At the same plant, the IT guru earns the equivalent of about US$25k per year.
