Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
I'd like to travel somewhere, and I'd like it to be somewhere where the exchange rate is in my favor so I can make a good amount to take home. So I'm thinking either England (since the exchange rate is so great) or Australia (similar exchange, but from the posts I've seen here, girls seem to be making good money there).
I don't know much about dancing in either country, or if it's difficult to get licenses/visas (I'm American, BTW).
Also, what would be a good time to go dance in either of these places?
Any thoughts?

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
Obviously I'm not in either, and I have no experience in either. BUT I get the feel from the boards that stripping is more lucrative in Australia.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
^^^I get that Impression to although it may depend on which parts of the UK and which parts of Australia you visit.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
Pretty much all the girls I've known from Australia to dance in London couldn't even make enough to cover basic living expenses in the last 4 years.
Prior to that, I think it was quite lucrative, but the opening up of the EU has created so much competition.
I think you have a lot more avenues to make money in Australia, although in Queensland you will have to perform two way touching dances which to my knowledge arn't permitted in the UK. Of course you have the rest of the country if that bothers you.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
ellebelle,
Thanks! Anything you can tell me about dancing in other cities? Sydney, Melbourne, Perth? Which you would recommend? What's contact like in the other cities? income potential?
I've always wanted to see Australia.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
There are a few threads about dancing in Australia, I think GoldCoastGirl has links to some in her sig if you cant find them -:
Queensland is the only state which allows touching - hands only and not between the legs. Dancing in Qld varies from city to city and club to club, there are threads on Brisbane, Cairnes,, Gold Coast, Makay, Townsville and Gladstone I think.
Sydney is no contact at all and you dont do lap dances, instead you do private dances on little stages. Its not so busy down there anymore though.
Melbourne is generally good but you might want to keep check of this thread in the lounge about the new proposed lockout which may happen soon.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
I've pretty much only danced in QLD, HK and Japan, but from what I understand Melbourne has the most income potential week-in-week-out. It's a door fee set up where the dancer keeps all her earnings.
Sydney is mostly percentage based clubs where I think you hand over around 50% of your earnings.
Perth, Adelaide, Darwin etc are a bit hit or miss. There are contracts you can do to regional areas of the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia that will pay your airfare and accommidation. They're usually hard work, but good money and a chance to see the "bush".
If I were to come to Australia for money I would base myself in Melbourne or the Gold Coast. But if you want to travel and see a bit more of Australia there are many clubs around the country where you can make enough money to party, see and do what you want and have a good time, not having to live on a backpacker budget.

Yeah, dont do that!
Ask Tyke about the UK is probably the best idea.
London and the SE were not good when I was there 3 years ago and the "good" exchange rate meant shit considering the cost of living etc and the fact that there was little money to be made in my area anyway.
-
Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
^ Yeah I was just going by where she said 'the exchange rate in my favour' and it's not in Australia. PAY is in her favour. Exchange is not.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
Also, both visas are difficult to get unless you prove you're just supplementing a holiday (have 5k or so in the bank) and don't tell them you wanna dance.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
Hey,
I live and work in England.... when are you thinking of coming over, do you want to stay only in London or are you willing to base yourself elsewhere, what type of a hustler are you ?
London is, generally speaking, not great throughout the summer, although now one can never say anything for sure. There are LOADS of clubs in London and other major cities, so competition is tough.
Most of the clubs charge you a lot to work there, so unless you are confident that you can pull it off, you might find it very hard to safe money ... especially with the high living costs.
You CAN make money in Uk, however it takes some time to realise which clubs work for you and which ones don't, I know lots of girls who work in different venues on different days to maximise their income. Therefore, for somebody who doesn't know much about the places it can be pretty hard to work this out, nobody will share their knowledge with you as that would only add an extra competition.
Give me more details and I'll try to help you. Also, 21stcentury is now working in Sydney so she should be able to compare the differences between Uk and Australia.

www.bunac.com can help you as an American in obtaining a 3 month working visa for Australia so long as you are 30 years of age or under. You do not have to be a student to qualify for the Australia working holiday visa but you do if you wanted to go to the UK through them.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
Thanks for all the info everyone. Ok, I'm heavily leaning towards Australia now. I've always wanted to see it, and it sounds like London is just a bit too high pressure for me.
I guess it would be awhile, since it's a lot to invest in traveling and visas, etc.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
I've always had an SW open door policy so if you need a spare room to crash, I'm good.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
As Sydney said there are loads of clubs in London these days { I'd say 40+ strip pubs and clubs} and as a result each one is less busy than they were 2 or 3 years ago. You can though still make money and in terms of a place with history, culture etc to visit London takes some beating. Outside London a lot of other places have lots of clubs now, some like Birmingham have a well established scene, some like Leeds I think has just got too many.
If you are good at stage shows and are coming over for a while I'd still recommend Browns in London as a well organised place with consistent money.
I have been to most places in Australia {except Perth} and I liked Melbourne best as a place to live in though the weather there can be a bit dodgy. If you fancy a Dodge city style frontier town go to Darwin where everybody does look a bit like Crocodile Dundee !

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
I wouldn't think that either of those could compare in profitability to a solid U.S. working trip to a lucrative city or club. The cost of travel and lodging would be so much higher than it would be to any North American working trip. I would be interested to hear if anyone on SW has actually taken a working trip to one of those countries from the U.S. or Canada and come home with a significant (a healthy amount more than what you would have made working at home, after deducting travel expenses) profit.
I think it would be a fun experience, no doubt, and well worth doing as part of a vacation, but if money's your motivation I have a hard time seeing it as a good idea.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
^^^Ive never worked in Canada or the US so dont know, but that sounds like a good point Susan. Australian cities can be very hit & miss. Melbourne tends to be stable, but it seems to me that thats the only city in Australia that 100% will agree is good and even thats been debated lately.
Its possible to make good or great money everywhere of course, but week in week out not everyone can nessesarilly rely on good $ being there. Some of that comes down to looks and husstling skills but some of it comes down to a sheer lack of customers or a shitty dancer: customer ratio or maybe not being able to get hired in the busy clubs or sudden influxes of dancers all migrating to the same areas / clubs to work and sometimes shitty club rules and so on...
Thats my 2 cent opinion anyway. For a working holiday it might bo ok, but if going home with a decent profit is the main reason to come here, its worth some careful planning (-:

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
Come to Australia to supplement a working holiday or do not come here at all at present.
Melbourne used to be very good however right now it is going to go thru it's slow time (when it's coldest) and when its busy time comes back.. it will have that stupid 2am curfew in effect which WILL hurt business...
As for the rest of Australia - the link is http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sho...=32622&page=15
There are plenty of contracts you can do via different agencies or even the clubs themselves for 3-4 weeks at a time: Gladstone, Darwin, Mackay have contracts.
Then there is the Skimpy work around WA (Western Australia) which is worth doing. I recommend Babes Promotions for Skimpy work.
Once again, I re-iterate, come to Australia if your intention is to supplement your holiday money not for it to BE your holiday money. The busy time of year generally (except Darwin) is from August onwards. Darwin (NT) it is now during the Dry Season.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
I rreeeeaaaaallly think if I were going to another country to strip I wouldn't be going for the 12 hour a day 7 day a week skimpy work, hahaha.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
You do bar service, behind a bar to a buch of drunk miners for 12-15 hours a day... and then you go around every two hours with a jug to collect money for going topless for 30 minutes. The guys are wankers, the job is long and hard and for the work, you only average around $60 an hour... but you're working 100+ hours a week.
-
Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
YOU did it for 12 hours a day Lysondra not me. It is more like 5-6 hours a day.
Sometimes split shift with a total of 5-8 or so hours a day.
Sheesh.
Lysondra only did it once. I have done it a few times both within Kal and outside of Kalgoorlie. I recommend Babes Promotions for the Skimpy work as they send you to places all over WA (not Kalgoorlie) that are decent hours, decent tips and don't work you to the bone :) or so was my experience.

Re: Travelling- better to strip in England, Or Australia?
that "skimpy" thing interests me, do you have to pay for room/travel or is everything taken care of? for an american traveling would this be lucrative? how long do they expect you to contract with them?
