Dealing with the negativity
I'm not a naturally well adjusted, happy person. I've had really severe depression ever since I can remember, and I have such a thin skin that hearing someone swear makes me jump.
I absorb the energy around me completely, and unfortunately I'm finding there is a lot of bad energy in the industry (at least from my very limited experience- I've only been dancing a few weeks).
How do you guys stay positive? I really need advice. I don't want to quit dancing, it's just hard for me to see how destructive some of the people I work with are.
Re: Dealing with the negativity
i learned to block out everyone else around me when i'm working. i have to in order to keep making money, because i'm very sensitive to negative energy as well. the only way i have found is to completely block out all the other dancers as well as customers and managers who have bad attitudes. i pretend i'm the only dancer there and focus solely on my mission--make cash and go home. i don't look over at what other girls are doing during lap dances. i don't pay attention. i focus only on me and the customers i'm trying to sell at that time.
Re: Dealing with the negativity
Do you think trying a different club, or even a different shift, could help? Maybe it isn't you, but your surroundings are quite bad.
Are you having a worse time with dancers or customers?
