I second this. If you do feel like either of those they will start out with a 3 day hold for evaluation purposes. After that they can keep you longer like a week or a month. I don't think you have that problem though. Just giving some facts I know.
Hope you are feeling better today.

I wanted to add to this and write that they will likely ask you if you've had suicidal thoughts during your initial evaluation. Answer honestly.
If you answer that you have, they won't lock you up for that. But if you say that you are in real danger of hurting yourself or someone else, you will be held.
That seems to be a non-issue in your case though, so be forthright while you're being evaluated in order to get the best help possible.
Good to see you're taking steps to getting help. That can be the hardest part a lot of the time.

 I just have to offer my support here, if you need someone to talk to. I know all about having severe anxiety and how awful it can be. I once thought I was schizophrenic too, but I know someone who actually is and the symptoms are not quite the same. If you do have a chemical imbalance or just an overload of stress, it can be very easily treated. Definitely see a therapist, who will refer you to a psychiatrist. You will most likely be given meds to help get you to a place that allows you to calmly function in life, and there will probably be some additional counseling needed. Hospitalization only really happens if you are like, hysterical and hurting yourself or other people. If it does come to that, it's not exactly the worst thing in the world. There are people who want to help you in any way that they can. Nobody hates you, and you are not being watched. And you are probably not schizophrenic. Like someone else said, they don't question their sanity and they definitely have a TOTALLY skewed perception of reality. Its like being on acid 24-7 (sort of - from what has been described to me) with a host of other symptoms.
Be strong! Keep telling yourself that those delusions are simply nonsense.
